Stopped in for the qabli as I haven't had it since I was in Afghanistan years ago. It was quite good. If you haven't had it before, be prepared for different flavors g than Americans normally put in savory dishes. It was eye catching with plenty for at least 3 meals (for me). The gentleman at the counter was quite nice and attentive. The place itself was nice and clean. There were a few tables needing bussing, but the gentleman taking orders was also delivering them and attempting to eat his own meal, so those tables didn't bother me. Saw some other good brought out and it all looked good. Mine was fresh with super tender pieces of beef and came with a side of seasoned kidney beans. Good little joint and I'll be back again for more of their traditional foods.
Conveniently located just off of Waverly road near Saginaw Hwy. Noosh never disappoints! I've ordered about five different things from them and never remember to take a picture before I dive in. They make the food to order so it is always flavorful, fresh, and hot! As you can see, the portion sizes are always perfect. In my opinion, they're just right. You leave full but never feeling so full that you're sick.. unless you order too much like I tend to do. :) Service is always friendly and courteous. Order at the counter and they'll bring you your food and drinks once you pick your seat. The restaurant itself is very clean without being overdone on the decor. Definitely worth a try if you're in the mood and nearby.
Noosh is a fast casual place where you order up front and they'll bring your food out to you. We went around 6pm on a Saturday and there were only a few tables occupied, so I hope that's not indicative of how much business they do! The guy at the counter was super nice. All this food, plus naan, for 36$. A steal! I noticed the size of other peoples meals and figured they had gotten a platter or something... no, it's just THAT much food! So much food. My boyfriend at it all, but definitely 2 meals for me. The meat was flavorful, both the chicken and beef. The qabli rice was interesting, definitely get it instead of white rice. But the white rice was really good too... love the little "salad" the food came with too. Made for a very light-feeling meal. The garlic kabob sauce is fantastic. We will definitely be back!!!
I take pride in having an open mind when it comes to exploring different flavors and genres of food -- Caribbean, Icelandic, Welsh, Māori and Taiwanese are all examples of international cuisines I've been fortunate to sample either in-country or in the home kitchens of natives of those countries. Later this month, I'll be traveling to Norway for my day job, and I look forward to tasting some authentic Scandinavian dishes. Closer to home, our community is privileged to have far-reaching ethnic tastes to choose from, and those options continue to expand as new restaurants open. Early last month, I was invited to attend a fundraising breakfast for a charitable organization. As usual, the organization offered guests highlights of the good work it's doing in and around Lansing. One of those highlights included a testimonial from a refugee who came to the United States from Afghanistan with members of his family. He spoke of the challenges he faced in his home country, the lengthy process for seeking entrée to our country and the support the charity offered him and his family as they settled into Lansing and established themselves as contributing members of the community. After a few years of support -- language acquisition, housing, food security and employability skills lessons -- the gentleman was able to open a restaurant that showcases his proud heritage through food. That restaurant is Noosh Afghan Cuisine, which offers both dine-in and carryout options. The staff is very friendly, and the owner is keen to make his guests comfortable, offering to answer any questions you may have about the dishes. Noosh opened in 2023 and has developed a loyal fan base with a menu that includes Middle Eastern staples like shawarma and kabobs paired with Western fare like burgers and fries, but with Afghan flavors. The true stars are the traditional Afghan delicacies, and I urge you to give the area's only Afghan restaurant a try. What's really good My first trip to Noosh was for takeout on a busy weekday evening while my better half was out of town for a conference. I figured the flavor profiles would be too intense for my younger littles, ages 8 (happy birthday, Simone) and 4, so I grabbed them some sub sandwiches before heading in to pick up my food. I ordered the lamb chops ($24.99), which were served with brown rice, salad and a zesty garlic sauce. The chops were meaty, well seasoned and cooked to a perfect medium. I followed that with the beef burger ($10.99), and let me say, it wasn't what I was expecting in terms of flavor. It was better. Packed with traditional Afghan spices like coriander and black cumin, this burger will have you considering new flavor possibilities at your next cookout. Paired with carnival-cut french fries and topped with chopped cilantro, red onion and a slightly spicy mayo, this handheld was teeming with yumminess. What's amazing On my second visit to Noosh, I was joined by three of my favorite dining companions (and former Lansing Board of Education colleagues), including the incomparable Mrs. She Ate. Our calendars miraculously aligned for a Monday lunch and incredibly, the food matched the great company. We shared the traditional family plate ($49.99), and there was more than enough food for the four of us. Mounds of white rice and qabli (brown rice, shaved carrots and raisins) were flanked by mantu (beef dumplings with cilantro, tomato paste and a delightful yogurt sauce) and bolani (think of a quesadilla but instead of cheese, there's spiced pumpkin). These combinations alone were outstanding, but there was so much more. Bowls of kofta challow (spiced meatballs) and chicken karahi accompanied the main plate, bathing in delicious variations of tomato sauce. Then there was the warm and spongy naan bread, which served as the perfect instrument to sop up all the bright flavors. What an all-around wonderful meal. Best bite Those who know me best understand lamb chops and dumplings are among my favorite foods, and Noosh's versions are terrific. So, for my best bite nod to go to a pumpkin dish should tell you all you need to know. The burani pumpkin ($10.99) consisted of thick slices of poached pumpkin drizzled with a light garlic sauce, dusted with paprika and sprinkled with sliced red chilis. So good. Open your mind, expand your horizons and give this dish -- or one of Noosh's many other fabulous options -- a shot.
Forever grateful for the experience we had a Noosh! True we were in good company, as we went with friends, however the sights and smells offered here were incomparable. Each interaction with the staff was seamless and warm! THE FOOD....FRESH, BEAUTIFUL, DELICIOUS! Every item had a distinct taste yet the flavors were in harmony! After seeing this place pop up on TikTok while visiting Lansing for the holidays I knew I had to try it! I've never had afghan food before so went into this totally bland and holy cow am I happy I came here. Ordered the Mantu ( dumplings), Bollani, Chicken Shawarma, Beef Kabab and the rice and milk puddings. Everything was super good! So much flavor and the right amount of spice (heat). The gentleman at the counter was super helpful. Food was amazing will definitely come back if I'm in the area.
Great small business that is clean friendly and the food is delicious at a fair price. The staff was friendly and everything came out as ordered. If you're looking for good Afghan food recommend a quick stop here.

I stopped in for lunch while it town. I was the only customer when I walked in. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a veg and beef samosa, and Lamb kabob. All of the food was brought out and the same time. The samosas were good, similar to Indian samosas but with a twist. The salad was simple but fresh. The afghan rice was delicious. The lamb was flavorful, but was cooked more well done than my liking and slightly dry. When I think of a kabob I imagine grilled meat, but the lamb didn't have any char, so I'm not sure how it was cooked. Over all the food and service were good. It's nice to try different foods and am glad I tried it. Definitely worth checking out. If I lived closer I would go back, but would try a different dish. Since I don't live in the area, if I found myself back here I would probably try a different restaurant. read more

We stopped in at Noosh Afghan Cuisine on a recent trip to Lansing and we're glad for the chance to try it out. A family member of mine spent time in Afghanistan, so I couldn't wait to try some of the cuisine myself. The staff greeted us warmly on arrival, and we took some time to peruse the menu before ordering at the counter. We chose an assortment of Beef and Lamb Shami and Beef Chaplee. I recognized the buzkashi picture on the wall and mentioned to the employee working the cash register that I knew a bit about it. He pulled up a video of a match on YouTube, pointing out that one of the horses in the match is famous. Our food took some time to arrive, but we were not disappointed - fresh and flavorful, plus very generous portions that allowed us to take a box home to enjoy later. If you want to try something a little new and different in the Lansing area, Noosh will fit the bill. Check it out the next time you're in the area! read more

We drove up from Jackson just to try Noosh. It did not disappoint. We immediately felt welcomed. We opted to order the traditional platter. Because our group of four had a couple of big eaters, we ordered an additional order of dumplings (which were delicious). Leftovers were taken home. I've never reviewed a meatball before, but these were fantastic; so many different flavors going on. The chicken had a similar taste profile but was a bit spicier. This will be our new go to restaurant when we're in this part of Lansing. I can't wait to go back. (The only negative: The bathrooms need a good cleaning/painti read more
