I had a layover at Denver Airport this morning. The presentation is nice, display of goodies. I chose the apricot scone which presents as a a frosted and sprinkled with almonds croissant, which is what I thought I was buying. Be fair. I had not had my coffee and it was 4 am, my time. It was a delicious scone, but not what I thought I was getting. I double checked the receipt (after drinking some of my perfectly okay coffee) to see if it was called a croissants and learned it was a Scones, which changed what I was going to write a little, it is a bakery after all. I asked for a vanilla latte, and was told thry have reg and decaf black coffee. Okay, I can do that, its fine. I am older than the internet. But I ask you: Why do bakeries insist on doing so poorly with coffee accouterments? No raw sugar: Boo! Tiny packages of creamer stuff: BOO! Is it too much to ask for condiments that complete the positive experience started by their delicious baked goods? It really was a delicious scone, as I continue to pick at it. I will save this other half for breakfast tomorrow when my daughter makes me a cafe latte in her home. Gotta love those Gen X girlies. I never would have ordered a scone on top of the bacon sandwich on Brioche. The Brioche was PERFECT. The sandwich, not so much. The eggs were literally tasteless. Bacon, a bit undercooked. read more
