Such a cozy, romantic setting! Dinner was phenomenal. We had French onion soup, prime rib, filet mignon and the warm spinach salad with their famous bacon dressing. That dressing! We loved it so much we bought a large jar to bring home and managed to get four more salads out of it. They even ship it if you need another fix! My Grey Goose Cosmopolitan was excellent, too. Our server was friendly, helpful, and added to an already wonderful evening. Between the food, atmosphere, gardens, and service, this was easily one of our favorite dining experiences in Door County. They have a great craft beer selection including IPA's (which is big plus for me). We started with the Salmon Tartare ($18) which was a light and flavorful selection in which we both enjoyed. My bride went with the Salmon ($36) and I went with the Halibut ($42) and we both loved our selections including the sides! They were so well prepared and perfect dishes for out tastes. Spent 3 nights in a king size room (unit 21) at the Settlement Courtyard Inn in June 2025. Great…read morelocation right outside of Fish Creek. Checking in was quick and easy which was lovely. They gave me a key with a huge wooden keychain so it would be hard to lose the key. Made it hard to walk around with. Later on after I was getting settled I went back down to the desk to ask 2 simple questions and the person at the desk didn't know the answers to my questions which was a little weird. Maybe a new staff member for the summer. The room had that quaint, countryside feel. It does have a musky scent when you first walk into the room. Once you're in there for a couple of mins you don't notice it anymore. Everything was very clean with the exception of the tub in the bathroom that had some hairs left behind by the former guest and some microscopic bugs by the sink. It was great having a full fridge and microwave which I used both. No stove or oven so keep that in mind. The temp in the room was great and can be changed whenever you want. The bathroom has small vials of shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bath/body gel - keep that in mind cause I'm always used to hotels having a huge refillable container of all those products. The TV is a regular tv with local and national channels. No logging into different streaming platforms if that's your thing. The Pool - spent a little amount of time there. The temp of the heated pool was great. Towels are available at the pool. The recliners aren't the most comfortable for a position to read but I made do. Breakfast - I went to the little nook in the morning for breakfast but only got a coffee and hard boiled eggs once. They had cereal, and some other items. I'm not much of a breakfast person. Parking - lots of parking. You'll register your car with the front desk. The only comment on this is that they need desperately to redo the lines in the parking lot cause it was hard to tell if they were specific spaces at all. Location - I think the location is perfect to hop down to Fish Creek or another neighboring bay city. It was central to everything I felt and Fish Creek ended up being one of my fav places to hang out and walk around. So many shops and restaurants.

My hair was a giant knot, no matter how much conditioner I used. Unfortunate. There is no microwave in the room. However , there is one by the coffee bar in the lobby. They also had a mini fridge with juices and flavored water. They did not offer water or ice anywhere. This was a huge inconvenience. We drink a lot of water and ice would have been nice. Oh Door County, you wondrous vacation spot from my childhood! Not visiting in years, I recently had…read morea chance to go back to Door County with my husband, sister, and parents- AND it was like I remembered it with the added bonuses of now being an adult who can do more shopping (allowance becomes salary) and drinking (cider becomes cider). These are good things. Yes, it is a nice spot for young families, but you can also have a quality time with a group of adults. If you have never been or never heard of Door County (or DCW for us in the know), it is about five hours from Chicago (four if you speed, but you won't want to). Five hours is a completely manageable drive, when the weather is nice; when it isn't, you basically pray on a loop that you won't hit a deer. The anxiety just makes the drive more fun! In pleasant weather, you pass distracting places with huge signs that simply say "C-H-E-E-S-E" and "F-I-R-E-W-O-R-K-S" on them. Driving from Chicago, you basically follow the coast line of Lake Michigan until you can't drive anymore; DCW is the thumb on the hand of Wisconsin. For my Michigan natives, use your other hand to understand Wisconsin's hand geography. Where we have stayed at friend's cabins and some other hotels, we stayed at Blacksmith Inn on the Shore this time. Blacksmith Inn is beautiful and has many room options (including ones in the Harbor House next door). For this stay, we rented out the Orchard House across the street. The four-bedroom fully-functional house felt more like an airbnb rental than connected to the Inn, which was absolutely perfect. So much well-preserved vintage, comfortable beds, and an excess of bathrooms made this a great place for our group. There are many other stay options in Door County; with all of the inns, B+Bs, lodges, and actual airbnb rentals, you basically need to breakdown what are going to be the most important amenities for your stay and book accordingly, but this place was perfect for us.

It came with a Vegetable Blend of julienne carrots, green beans, along with red & yellow peppers, sautéed with sesame oil. Also - Au Gratin Potatoes with Smoked Swiss & provolone. I actually loved the green beans side and the potatoes in my shrimp/crab sauce was fabulous! My husband's dish was Lobster, fresh scallops and shrimp sautéed with garlic, artichoke hearts, fresh basil and chef's tomatoes, tossed with egg fettuccine in a spicy tomato white wine sauce and topped with Italian cheeses. There's plenty of parking in the lot in front, complete with a fountain and foliage. The inn is the perfect blend between inn and B&B. The owner checked me in with a warm welcome but was blessedly brief. He told me what I needed to know but unlike most B&Bs he didn't tell me his life story. I appreciated the ability to get to my room faster. I initially found this place because I came with my sister a decade ago and needed a place with two beds which this inn had. My room this time was on the second floor. There are no elevators so if you don't do stairs be sure to book a first floor room. Both levels have two cozy sitting places with comfy chairs. The first floor has a side porch with a comfy couch. First floor also has an honor bar with wine, soda, beer (spotted cow of course!) and a few little snacks. And a 24 hour coffee machine. The rooms are all nice. This time I had a ridiculously large suite because I booked last minute and it's all that was available. But wow! It was impressive. The sitting area has two sumptuous chairs thick enough to cozy my full body into with legs curled up, and arms wide enough to rest books on. There's a wet bar and the fridge works great. My ice packs even stayed solid in the little freezer element. The balcony has two chairs and is quite lovely. The shower is remarkably refreshing with nicely scented bath products. The sink is separate from the toilet and shower. Strangely the jacuzzi is out of the bathroom altogether and next to the bed which for me is a bizarre juxtaposition. The bed and pillows were comfortable enough that I slept quite soundly. The breakfast on the weekdays I was there was from 8-10a. The coffee was good although a little weaker than I make it at home. There's a menu and you can order as much as you want, all included in the room charge. Every morning included options of: orange or grapefruit, house made granola, variety of breads, vanilla yogurt, and a bakery item such as a muffin or slice of coffee cake. Then there were always three hot items such as scrambled eggs, ham, waffles with cherry. I loved the variety of choices and everything was delicious. I missed more fruit and would have like a banana or some in season fruit since it was summer. Everything was wonderful and this will continue to be where I stay whenever I visit door county.
