We typically stay in Fish Creek, but since we booked our trip only a week in advance, there were no available accommodations there. We decided on Bailey's Harbor instead, which is just a 20-minute drive from Fish Creek, offering stunning views of the lake, surrounding nature, and charming villages along the way. I paid $200 for one night in a Trailside One Bedroom Suite, which featured an apartment-style layout with a queen bed, a pull-out sofa in the living room, a full kitchen, parking, and a lovely view of the wooded trail area. The room was spacious and clean, providing a cozy, cabin-like atmosphere that was more than enough for two people. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, with walking trails, stunning views of Lake Michigan, and a peaceful, secluded ambiance. It also offers a dock, beach area, hot tub, and pool, all surrounded by majestic pines. We were able to easily walk to the water, the breakfast hall, and other areas of the property. During our stay, we also noticed a small wedding taking place, adding to the charming atmosphere. The only thing preventing me from giving a 5-star review is the quality of the breakfast. It was typical of a basic hotel breakfast--scrambled eggs made from powdered eggs, cereal, coffee, juice, and so on. As someone who loves breakfast, it would have been a nice touch to have freshly made scrambled eggs and hashbrowns, which would have really elevated the experience for me. Overall, I'm excited to return in the summer to take advantage of the outdoor pool, hot tub, beach area, dock, and outdoor seating. I'm also looking forward to trying the restaurant on the property next time.

The property was beautiful and it was huge. There were options to stay in cabins, houses, and a lodge. There were also hiking trails and it sat on Lake Michigan so you could Kayak or swim in the pool over looking the lake. There were also basketball courts and tennis courts. You could basically spend your whole time on the property and have your vacation there. We stayed in Cabins. This one is the Spruce and it's where Leslie and I roomed. The cabin had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living room, and fireplace. And we had a gorgeous view of Lake Michigan right out front. Everything was so quiet on the campus. It was super relaxing and I got two nights of fantastic sleep! I also have to add they have hot water and there was great water pressure. Not everyone talks about bathrooms and showers, but for me a hot shower is like a cup of coffee. I don't like coffee and I need the shower to wake me up. They had super soft towels too. This is another small thing that is huge. I can't stand small scratchy towels. These were big and fluffy They also had a buffet breakfast and a restaurant. The breakfasts were amazing! They had different buffets each morning too. I had such a great stay!

Alas, I just got to visit this place and take a little tour. Apparently, Lawrence University students can retreat here when they want, which is fortunate for them. This is a sanctuary where people can find quiet and contemplation. The general public can also sign up to take classes and seminars, and spend the weekend at Bjorklunden in what they call a "thought-provoking vacation." Located on the grounds of Bjorklunden is Boyton Chapel, a small wooden structure built in a late 12th-century Norwegian style. If you get a chance to peek inside, you should -- it's beautiful, with biblical paintings on every wall and hand-carved wooden pews. When I visited, it was snowing and everything looked white and beautiful. I imagine the area is equally as beautiful when everything is green, but there's something about being here when things are cold and sparkling that make it extra special.

I went to this house during a Halloween ghost tour while staying in Door County for a 4 day…read moregetaway. The building is no longer occupied but rather converted to a museum. I didn't experience any paranormal activity but with the history and stories we were told I wouldn't doubt there is hauntings. If you are into history especially Wisconsin ghost stories then I recommend checking it out.

The ole Trading Post is my first stop each summer in Egg Harbour as I know I will be meeting up with ole' friends once again. I just got off the phone today as to inquire of some more CD's/DVD's of native american traditional music set to modern electric guitar and contemporary vocals that I purchased recently from the Shop. I wanted more CD's :) !!! My recommendation to all is to stop by to learn Native life and beautiful jewelry and art..... and to just chat for awhile. I would have never be exposed to the Menominee/Oneida Nation Pow-Wows, area Native Art exhibits, and even some great lakes to just do some lazy day fishing on in my retirement. Peace.

We purchased a feed bucket with grain and carrots and fed the donkeys/horse and goats which our toddlers loved. We then headed over to the play area where they have oodles of imaginative play spaces setup with a little village that included a restaurant/vet/town store and then there's a barn and little house with tons of stuff inside of them for the kids to enjoy. There's also little tractors and tricycles for the kids to ride, push mowers, rocking horses. Tons of spots for adults to sit while the kids play (in shade too). They also have a very cute out house with a nice potty AND changing table with a real sink which is such a nice touch for families. Staff was fantastic and the price is so reasonable for all you get. We will absolutely be back!

When you buy the animal feed they tell you to go straight to the animals otherwise you'll get stuck in the play town forever. That was great advice as after we were done feeding the animals our kiddo was in heaven checking out the mini diner, grocery store, vet and more, riding on the child sized tractors and generally just having a ball. It was a great time, the perfect place to Brinn a picnic lunch & enjoy as the kids play. We will be back for sure!

First of all: Heritage Village is only open seasonally, so plan ahead! It's open mid-May through…read moremid-October, and also around the holidays for a short time. This is a living history museum, where you can take a self-guided tour through nine historically significant buildings that depict rural life from 1880 to 1910. You'll see a schoolhouse, a store, a chapel, a blacksmith, a tool museum and recreations of regular-people houses. Be sure to say hello to the innocuously seeming but ultimately demented dolls sitting on a chair in the corner of one of the houses. Before or after walking around the grounds and peeping into the buildings, grab some saltwater taffy (4 for $1!) at the main building, which is also kind of a general store itself. You'll also find things like hot chocolate, as well as vintage gadgets and goods to purchase or just look at, like I did.
