Inside we found numerous paintings that we enjoyed and once again, they offer items in different price ranges. They had beautiful wood pieces that would look wonderful in a home. Besides being beautiful, they seemed to have been made with a quality that will last forever. I also found several artists (jewelry) that I will continue to look for and support. If I remember correctly, all of their artists were local or if not from the region around Wisconsin, they were all from the states. The 2 ladies also gave us excellent references for places to eat while we were in the area!

After visiting nearby Door Bluff Headlands County Park, we dropped in here on a whim as the signage…read morefor this studio was located right on the same Garrett Bay Road that leads out of the park.  And we are very glad we did, as it was a unique business and cultural Door County experience indeed.  The gravel and dirt road leading to their secluded studio is like being right back in the park, and after a little bit of roadway, their studio appears out of the woods.  Ha, perty different and interesting to say the least!   Off to the side of the studio was Diane McNeil who greeted and welcomed us.  Hidden back in his workshop was John Dietrich, the master potter at work.  We browsed around the gallery and there was a lot of colorful and artistic pottery to look at, but nothing really clicked for us buying-wise on this trip anyway.  But the best part was that after browsing, we got to chatting with this delightful and engaging and long time husband and wife team.  Their gallery is actually a converted historic 1934 vintage apple barn.   On the premises behind their gallery is their home too.  You can tell this business is their love and livelihood.  We learned yet again it's a small world.  Diane actually hails originally from Glen Ellyn, IL and still remembers now bustling Naperville as open pasture land!  John was raised in Appleton WI and trained from his college days to be a master potter, but both of his parents were actually renowned painters from Oak Park, IL!  There are other potteries in town we noticed later, and I'm sure each has their own story, but their particular story here was one that gave us a sense of connection.  Drop by to meet this welcoming couple, go off the beaten path, and see if any of their work might be what you're looking for!

It is full of "FUN STUFF" and a great place to find a unique gift for a hard to shop for friend/relative/etc. Personally, my favorite is the wall of novelty socks. I'm fairly certain I have purchased at least one pair every time I visit this shop; there are different socks each visit. I also started this "tradition" of picking out a silly dog (or cat) tag for my dog's collar each visit. My Angel Beagle, Sasha, had a great collection (for example "I look much better online" - even though she was adorable!), and my Roxy is starting on her collection ;) Looking around, it appears other customers have fun while in Fun Stuff. And they have awesome pink bags for your purchase. This store is seriously a highlight of each and every Door County adventure. Never stop being fun! :)

Sadly, the markers/paint was not out for people to leave their graffiti due to COVID but we had a great time finding the markings we left 2 years prior (and we found one!!!). The outside of the gallery is much more interesting than the inside; you could spend a good chunk of time just looking at the messages and artwork on all 4 sides of this shed-like building. They must clean it up so people can paint over the bottom 6 feet, where most people can reach). We only were able to find our initials as my husband creatively wrote them up very, very high (I think at one point I may have been trying to hold him up, hahahaha). Outside and around the gallery is a fantastic location for photos and to sit and enjoy the sunshine and/or water. I have been there when the Lake was wave and the waves washed over the dock - so be careful when you visit if you do not want to get wet or cold! I would say the Hardy Gallery is a must-see, even if you only stop for a moment and especially if you are on the western side of Door County.

They are both buyers and they have wide interests and wonderful taste. There have some very old silver pieces in a beautiful case and sterling collector spoons in a holder on the wall. Their glassware includes brilliant cut glass, depression glass and EAPG, adorning the windows on shelves in multiple colors. They often have light fixtures and they sometimes have Quezel or Steuben light shades. They also have old tools, post cards, stereocards, fruit shipping labels and tree ornaments, plus other things - most in practically perfect shape. The owners let you browse as you wish, but they will give you full attention if you have a question. I learn something every year. Our small family enjoys visiting these friendly owners on our annaul visit. If you are looking for real antiques this small store is a real step up from the antique malls south of town, or in my mind, from anyplace else on the peninsula.
