Beautiful view right from our bedroom balcony

Stayed at the Blacksmith in for two nights for mine and my husbands wedding anniversary. Staff was very nice and accommodating. We really enjoyed the rustic and quaint feel of the hotel and our room. We will definitely be coming back sometime and recommend this beautiful Inn to friends and family!

We stayed two nights for our wedding anniversary in late November and were completely delighted by the blacksmith inn! We enjoyed the in-room whirlpool tub, fireplace, and gorgeous view of the shore, but it was the attention to small details that really wowed us: from the European-style continental breakfast to the cute nightlight in the bathroom, from the lovely selection of snacks and drinks in the communal area, to the welcoming check-in and easy check-out, from the snuggly blankets to the fluffy robes... this place caters to comfort, relaxation, and quiet. We can't wait to come back when it's warmer so we can enjoy the balcony. Don't hesitate to stay here (even if you're a boutique hotel snob); you will not be disappointed!

We had such an excellent stay at Blacksmith Inn. Greeted & welcomed so well and even got to check-in an hour earlier. The room was tastefully decorated and super clean. The fireplace & whirlpool were such a romantic way to end the evening. Thank you Blacksmith, you made our Door County fall getaway very memorable.

This is the perfect getaway. The rooms are beautiful! Quiet! I recommend the Harbor House rooms 13 or 14 which are 2nd floor views or the historic Zahn house 3rd floors for beautiful views yet older rooms. You can't go wrong with any room though! It's amazing!

This place was adorable and the perfect getaway for a birthday weekend. I read and read the reviews of all other inns and B&Bs in the area looking for a good place to stay during November. I am so glad I picked this place. I was a little worried that Door County might kind of be dead during the off season, but it was perfect! Everything was a little lower priced and an amazing getaway. The Blacksmith Inn was amazing, we were greeted by someone as soon as we walked in. They showed us to our room and all the amenities. The view was beautiful! I loved all the lights and the coast that you could see from the window. We stayed in a room in the main inn. The breakfast in the morning, was so tasty. They had oatmeal, granola, boiled eggs, yogurt, cheese, organic coffee. It was delicious. They also provided nice trays that you could load your breakfast on and take with you upstairs. I loved the touches of homeade cookies, cocoa, tea, coffee, and popcorn that was always available for guests. The Inn is very close to the main street of Bailey's Harbor so you can walk to some very tasty restaurants. The room was very cutely decorated, with adorable little touches all around. The fireplace was so nice to sit in front of while we listened to the waves roll in off Lake Michigan. The lights in the room are dimmable so you can sit in the two person bathtub. The inn provides bath salts and an amazing apple cider soap! The only thing I would complain about is that the bed was really creaky. A small shift while you were sleeping and a loud creak would ensue, but I'm used to a memory phone mattress...haha. I would recommend staying here to all my friends and I would stay here again next time I venture out to Door County.

The off season pricing was within my work budget, and I was thrilled. My husband and I have stayed here a few times, and there isn't a nicer place in door county! White Gull is nice, but super overpriced and the noise from breakfast crowds make mornings unpleasant. This inn is homey, serene and delightful. I was warmly welcomed, and the small lobby is always filled with popcorn, cider, tea coffee and snacks. Rooms have whirlpool tubs and are keenly appointed with antiques, but still feel fresh and modern. Can't wait for my next stay!!!

Very clean spacious area Our room was large, super clean & came w/a fully functional kitchen. We had an electric stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine stocked w/coffee, tea, filters, creamer & sugar. The cabinets had pots & pans & utensils. Normally I don't need a kitchen when on vacation however there wasn't very much open in Baileys Harbor this time of year I really loved the faculty, the location right in the water facing west where we were treated to 2 gorgeous sunsets literally right through the window or just outside the door. The staff was all super friendly & helpful. There was an indoor swimming pool & jacuzzi as well as an outdoor pool (not opened yet)

I cannot say enough positive things about the resort or the staff. The resort was the cleanest I have ever stayed in (and for my career, I stayed in many resorts, hotels, conference centers etc.) We stayed in a one bedroom unit and the kitchen was well equipped and the bed very comfortable. The indoor and outdoor pools were beautiful and they even had bikes that you could check out and ride. The staff were knowledgeable, professional and extremely helpful both before and after we arrived. Before we arrived we needed various room changes as family schedules changed. The resort was always helpful and precise with our changes. Unfortunately, I left one item that I wanted for the reunion at home. It was family documents and pictures that were irreplaceable. I had a friend send it UPS. It arrived the day after I checked out. So after I left, the resort staff took it upon themselves to send it back to me. Now when have you had service like that??? They were wonderful and I cannot be more grateful. I will be back! Bev S.

However, I can understand that we were at the end of the season and it was nothing that opening a few windows didn't fix. The cabin was spacious with a living room area and separate bedroom. It was large and comfortable and was an end until which provided a very nice view on two corners. The room decor could have used a little updating, but, it was clean, there were ample towels and I found it quite charming. the views were gorgeous with the leaves turning. The water did have a rusty smell to it, however, I expected this as I've stayed in an older home in Wisconsin before, I got used to the smell, and, after showering the water smell didn't linger on me so that was a plus :) The main lodge itself was beautiful. big stone fireplace and comfortable seating. Had I had more time I would have enjoyed sitting there, in front of the fire reading a book. The gentleman who checked us in, Michael, was lovely. Very friendly and accommodating. However, when we first arrived he was not at the desk as he was attending to another guest's needs and we had to wait about 20-30 minutes for him to arrive for him to check us into our room. I have a sense that he's working with a limited staff, and again, that could have been because it was the end of the season. He was very apologetic though and went out of his way to show me where everything was, extra towels, coffee, etc. Now for the downsides :) 1. In the cabins there is no WiFi and my cell service was spotty at best. It would have been nice to be able to connect to the internet from my room. I'm sure they are aware of this and it is something they'll address in the future. 2. Aside from their on-site Italian restaurant, there is no food there! No soda machine, no ice machine (although he did have a cooler with ice in the lobby), no where to buy just a snack or small sandwich. That would be a definite plus. Perhaps not a vending machine as it would go out of character for the lodge, but, maybe a few things behind the counter that would be able to be purchased. Overall I very much enjoyed the lodging and I would return to stay here if I was in this area again.

Even then, it seemed the place had few guests, and we were able to book just a couple weeks before - almost unheard of in Door County in late July. Service is non-existent. There was a teenager at the front desk to check us in -- the ONLY time we saw ANY other staff was Thursday evening when the bartender was locking up (at 7:00). No one made up rooms or exchanged linens - linen closet was left open for us to help ourselves. Sign on front desk said it was staffed ONLY from 9AM to 2 PM, but even with those short hours we never saw anyone in our four-nite stay. Restaurant is closed (again, PRIME SEASON) - bar is open only a couple nites per week, and then only 2-7 PM. No one available in case of emergency. Everything is REALLY outdated. Smells musty, with dehumidifier/air-conditioning units running full blast in both rooms of our suite when we arrived. Bathroom has been updated, but rest of the room is dark and gloomy. Window curtains are very sheer, so you better like waking up with the sunrise. Wi-fi is pretty weak, only one small TV. It was good to find a room on fairly short notice, and we had a very active four days with little time in the room, so it was "adequate" - but NOT someplace we'll stay again.
