Quiet open arrival, but as it quickly gained patrons, it was difficult with hearing aids to carry on a conversation. Old building, high ceilings - - LOTS of conversations. It's busy with 30 to 50 year olds. It was an absolute JOY to witness their gatherings, hugs and smiles. Eric - - our server, was very kind, patient and helped explain several of the questions we had regarding the menu. We APPRECIATED his attention to our large water carafe, filling it frequently. THANKS ERIC (with a C!!) Our food was nicely plated, temperature perfect and portions were VERY generous. The Classic Breakfast was my choice. Eggs cooked as directed, breakfast potatoes, one smallish, breakfast sausage in natural casing. A steak knife would have been helpful. I don't know the brand of bacon they serve, but it was FABULOUS! Thick sliced, prepared beautifully and mmmm, mmmm GOOD! The plate includes a Cheddar Biscuit. It is BIG and delicious LOOKING! I had to bring it, half of my potatoes and the sausage "to go". My husband ordered the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Biscuit. He was not a fan of the less than tasty sausage. #DIL ordered a Chicken Biscuit - - she shared a bite of the chicken. Let's just say, I KNOW what I will be ordering NEXT time we go. Our grandson ordered his favorite Biscuits & Gravy. HUGE portions, suitable for a growing young man. We will be back! P.S. The Gilded Pear cocktail was delicious. The Key Lime Pie was exquisite. Lovely plating and scrumptious. I shared it with my husband PLUS we brought half of it home.

The ambience is stylish and lively -- a little on the loud side when it gets busy, but still totally tolerable and honestly part of the energetic vibe that makes the place feel like a real KC social spot. Now let's talk food. We ordered the shrimp and grits, Korean beef tacos, and fries with aïoli -- and every single thing was delicious. The shrimp and grits were fantastic, rich and flavorful, and the creole garlic shrimp paired perfectly with the warm baguette they serve alongside it. That baguette was perfect for soaking up every last bite. The Korean beef tacos were packed with flavor -- a great balance of savory, a little sweet, and just the right amount of kick. And the fries with the aïoli? Crispy, addictive, and the perfect shareable starter for the table. Everything tasted fresh, well seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. Add in great service and a buzzing atmosphere, and you've got a spot that's definitely worth putting into your Kansas City dining rotation. Four stars from this KC foodie -- I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu especially that oatmeal cream pie for dessert!!!

We were hoping to take advantage of happy hour but were told it was only in the bar area (didn't say that anywhere on the website). Oh well! We didn't get any alcohol because of this though. Our server/service was very slow. We had to ask for drink refills multiple times, only after we caught the attention of our server. She was very nice but slow and not a great server. There were a lot of large groups celebrating together so it was loud, especially the table next to us who had a guest that honestly was so loud it really tainted our experience. That's not really the restaurants fault though, other than the table being so close to theirs. We were talked in to ordering the cheddar biscuits. They were...fine. They didn't really taste cheesy, more just like normal biscuits. Good but nothing super special and we wish we would have either not go them or got a different appetizer. My husband got the pastrami and it was good. I got the Korean steak and noodle salad and it was pretty good but lacked a little something to make it truly memorable. I would say there's enough noodles to make it more of a cold noodle bowl than a salad, too. We would try it again. The menu is large with variety so there is something for everyone.

This elevated,…read morebut not pretentious, schnitzel house gave me an amazing surprise dinner during my road trip recently to Kansas City. Like I mentioned, ambiance was gorgeous. Felt like I was in a nice hotel restaurant. High ceilings, excellent lighting, Austrian decor strewn about, white tablecloth, all good. Service was pretty casual, though, which is just what I like. Real people having real conversations with you. The food was excellent. I had a special that I can't remember exactly what it was. It was a pork shank served osso bucco, on top of an excellent mashed potato. A wonderful tomato-based sauce was served on top, and this fall-off-the-bone shank was delicious and indulgent and just what I needed on this cold winter night. I also got to try a schnitzel with sides of spaetzle and warm red cabbage. Textbook. Crispy, juicy, delicious schnitzel. Creamy, herby spaetzel. And a pop of acid from the cabbage. This is one of the best meals on planet Earth, and this place did it right. No notes. For dessert, we chose a scrumptious little tartlet from their glass cabinet at the front of the restaurant. It was some sort of berry, and it came with a perfect little quenelle of cream on the side and a mint leaf. Great crust, great filling, just a great little way to end this meal. Overall, if you are interested in the menu at all, you will love it here. And if you're not interested in the menu, you gotta get out of the house more and come here anyway. What a perfect way to end my trip to Kansas City. I hope I get to come back one day.

Very nice servers who knew the menu well and helped us pick the right things to eat. The food itself was exceptional. And get a freshly baked dessert from their cabinet up front.

Just wow. Close this…read moreplace or get a manager. In short. A Sunday evening. Stopped in for a bit of food. And let's give the food the 3 stars it deserves. It was OK. Exactly what you would expect from any fast food place that turns over cooks as fast as it turns over burgers. But this is a restaurant. Yeah, it is a country-themed, big, and wooden hunting-style restaurant. With absolutely nothing Big, Hunted, or Country on the menu. There is no heart here. Just whatever you could pick up for quick reheating from Sysco or Costco. And service... well, the most service we received was when one person stopped by long enough to ask us if our server had been by to get our payment. When we told her no... she didn't take our payment... she just said, "it figures" and presumably told the kid waiting on us. After she finished what she was doing with her tables, of course. Moral of the story... just go somewhere else. It will be a long drive to get to the next place. But you will enjoy it more.

Menu was mostly classic midwest/southern fare (not my personal fav). We split the pretzels and queso appetizer - so good! My husband had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatos and broccoli. He enjoyed all of it, but found the roll very bland. It also came with a cup of the soup of the day or salad - soup was a white chicken chili which was surprisingly delicious! My dad had a hot beef sandwich, which he enjoyed. Mom had sliders and onion rings and brought some leftovers home. The onion rings were very tasty! Service was amazing, staff was very attentive. We were there during a lull between lunch and dinner and there were maybe 3-4 other tables. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves!

We sat at the bar, and the bartender was amazing, full of helpful info about the menu. He told us how the seafood comes in fresh. He recommended oysters to us, and since it was our first time, he threw in a couple of his favorites at no charge. It was also happy hour, and we took advantage of the specials, ordering the cheddar biscuits drizzled with honey and the colossal cocktail shrimp. They really were huge and delicious. We also enjoyed half-price oysters. My husband loved the crushed cocktails We split the mahi-mahi, and we loved how he told us about the fresh fish that had never been frozen and whether it was wild or farm-raised. The mahi was incredible. You could tell it was fresh. We enjoyed the potatoes and the BéreBlanc sauce. This is going to be a place that we will end up becoming regulars at. So happy to have tried it!

That being awkwardly included and all, sis and I dined on some of the best food I've had in a while. We shared smoked oysters topped with bread crumps and parmesan, a super spicy and flavorful salsa-type appetizer with habanero that came with surprisingly flavorful chips lol, we shared some crab cakes, a beautiful aquatic-toned alcoholic drink, and shared one of the best trout dishes I have ever had in my entire human life! 0__0 The rainbow trout was our favorite part of that entire experience, which was tough to decide on honestly.. My 2nd best thing were those oysters! Our waiter was so kind and entertaining, and I really hope we get him the next time I visit! If I remember correctly, his name was Tristin. Thankfully due to how early we were there that day, the restaurant wasn't super packed, so we had plenty of breathing air for most of our visit. During the last 15 minutes it began filling up! This review is a mess you guys, but it's still an absolute satisfied one!
