Overall great apartment complex. Management is nice, friendly, and do everything they can to make sure you have a pleasant stay. I lived with 3 other guys so we paid about $300 a month, it varied. We had to pay power separately, about 40 bucks extra. Lived there for 2 years and I had no issues, neighbors are nice and were usually students. Great, centrally located complex with ample parking. Dominoes is literally right next to the apartment, which was not good for my health but if I wanted something quick it was convenient to just go walk and get pizza. About 10 minutes from Samford, 15-20 from UAB (depends on traffic). I had classes at Samford around 11am and 1pm, and I could literally be in class from my apartment in 10-15 minutes. The gate with a code usually works but boneheads ram it and they usually have it up for maintenance. But the neighborhood is perfectly safe, with decent lighting from street lights. I went running during the night and never at all felt in danger. There were times when we had no water because of a sewage problem, and that was annoying but they fixed all that. The only bug problem you have is the occasional roach, but my unit was near the huge trash bin so that may have been a factor. They recently renovated apartments with carpet and put it wood tile flooring, which is nice and easy to maintain. They also put in new windows, the old ones were rotted and dirty, but these are new and open-able. Fireplace, internet and cable, water (gets hot quick, which I liked), washer/dyer hooks, microwave/stove, fridge, A/C and ceiling fans are all included amenities. The place is quiet, and if there are noise complaints the managers will act. Pet friendly, though I'm not sure how much additional rent is for one. One thing that really bugged me was the kitchen. Its just smaller. The bar area is great to provide additional seating but the sink and the cupboards are all small. We 4 guys would not be able to fit all of our food into the pantrys and fridge, but it worked out. We used an unused bookshelf to provide some extra storage space. I had a mini fridge, and kept some food in my room. There were times when the fridge was packed, and the kitchen was seemingly overflowing with dishes, even though its not that much. I advise you communicate dishwashing duties with your roommates if you have any. Overall, great place to live for the price you pay. read more
