It's a very safe area. This is a historical building! 1939- The walls are a foot and a half thick! If you get a good unit, you see only green. I'm on the second floor without a dishwasher, but that doesn't bother me. It's just me and I find it very mindful doing dishes. If you have allergies, the wood flooring will help tremendously like it did me. The ACs are powerful enough, the grounds are beautiful. Laundry onsite. Parking tight after 8pm. Cats ok no dogs. Remember that a lot of people know of this place and know of people who have lived here so the negative reviews are the exception. Not perfect but best management you'll find. You also never pay extra for electricity - flat rate. A couple of times I've used the oven for extra heat, shhh ;)

In hindsight they could do so much better. Upon move out I was charged $10 to clean the kitchen drawers, $30 to clean to the fridge (which my boyfriend cleaned spotless before I moved out), $80 to sweep and mop the floor (which my friend swept after I moved out), $40 to clean the oven (mind you these appliances aren't even from this century), $30 to clean the bathroom, and $75 to clean the bathroom...just let that sink in. This apartment was built in the 1950s and I would hope a complex would clean an apartment in-between tenants. Mind you I already paid a $450 nonrefundable redecorating fee at move in ontop of two $600 nonrefundable payments (yes $1200) for my two cats to cover damages. GREEDY!! The bugs are insane - I got eaten alive by ants and I am still recovering from bites even though I moved out about three weeks ago. My boyfriend's car got hit and you can't do anything about it because the apartment complex has no cameras. My boyfriend, who is black, got the cops called on him multiple times for running around the complex and people assume he was DoorDash drive so if you're a person of color DO NOT live in this area. Plus, my packages have been stolen and I know for a fact its happen to others on top of cars getting broken in to. On the other hand Summer in the front office is very kind, helpful, and wonderful to talk to none of this is directed towards her or the very nice maintenance men. I am such a good tenant I feel guilty posting this but they already took my money.

My son…read moreand I vacated the apartment on March 17, 2025, after fulfilling all contractual obligations, including the payment of the required deposit. We took every precaution to ensure that we met the expectations outlined in the lease agreement and left the apartment in a clean and orderly condition. It is worth noting that, despite these circumstances, my son and I were denied our full deposit. I find this decision to be deeply troubling, particularly given the context that the damage in question was caused by contractors employed by your company. As part of the repair process, the contractors created holes in the walls to assess water damage using moisture detection tools. Unfortunately, these holes were left unaddressed and not repaired before our departure. We believe this charge to be unfair and unjust, and I kindly request a reconsideration of the decision to withhold our deposit. Additionally, I would like to highlight a series of difficulties my son and I faced during our residency at Retreat at Greystone. These include: Water Damage Incident: Last year, the sprinkler in the master bedroom bathroom malfunctioned, flooding our unit with water mixed with red dirt. This caused significant damage to my son's personal belongings, including clothing, shoes, office equipment, and furniture. My son and I had to clean up the aftermath ourselves. We didn't have RENTERS INSURANCE FOR OUR THINGS. Health Concerns: My son was diagnosed with a sinus infection caused by the constant exposure to airborne particles from large industrial blowers that were placed in the apartment to dry out the flood-damaged areas. Despite his discomfort, he did not inform me immediately out of concern for my own well-being. I ask if possible that Retreat at Greystone pay for one room Hotel for us to share to avoid the exposure of the particles that caused my son to not feel well but you said no. But later offered us your MODEL APARTMENT THAT YOU STATED DID NOT HAVE INTERNET SERVICES THAT MY SON NEEDED TO CONTINUE HIS REMOTE JOB FROM HOME. SO WE HAD TO LIVE IN OUR APARTMENT AND ENDURE FROM THE TRAGIC EVENT THAT WAS VERY STRESSFUL. Disrespectful Treatment by Contractors: Throughout the repair process, we experienced significant disruptions and disrespectful behavior from the contractors. Despite multiple requests for a contactless communication arrangement, due to my son working remotely from home and other contact with contractors that ended bitterly. THE contractor ERIC disrupted my son's work, and in some instances, caused unnecessary delays. THE contractor ERIC even attempted to have my son assist in moving carpet, which was an unreasonable request given my son's remote work obligations. I HAVE FOOTAGE FROM OUR HOME CAMERA. Unprofessional Behavior and Security Concerns: On several occasions, contractors arrived early AS 7 AM in the morning without proper notice. I was forced to contact law enforcement due to rude demeanor. On one particularly distressing occasion, contractors refused to leave the apartment after hours, forcing me to call the sheriff for assistance. BUT the contractors did not leave as the Sheriff asked them at my request but I had to call the Sheriff back to go again letting them know I ask for contactless communications and this is my second attempt to remove them from the property so me and my son can enter. That our home security camera showed that they were still in the apartment after the first attempt to get them to leave. DISREPECTFULLY, the contractor unplugged the camera that was unnoticeable on the fireplace. Moreover, contractors repeatedly unplugged our security camera without explanation, which further heightened our concerns. And as reported to the Office left our door unlocked upon their departure. Given these numerous issues, I am disappointed by the lack of respect and professionalism shown throughout this process. It is especially disheartening that, after all the challenges we endured, we are now being charged for damage that was caused by contractors hired by Retreat at Greystone. I respectfully request that you review this matter and return the portion of the deposit that was unjustly withheld to cover the cost of repairs for the holes in the walls. These holes were caused by Greystone's contractors during the water damage assessment process, and I believe it is only fair that we are not held financially responsible for their actions. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will take the appropriate steps to resolve this issue and ensure that our concerns are addressed. Every single time I visit my friend here, there is dog feces and urine in the hallways and outside the elevators. It's nasty and completely unacceptable for a building that calls itself "luxury." My friend has contacted management over and over again, but nothing changes. Clearly management either doesn't care or isn't enforcing the rules. Until they get serious about cleaning and holding residents accountable, this place is not worth the rent they're charging.

We were skeptical about apartment living at first, but have been pleasantly surprised since becoming a Wisterian :). The management staff are attentive and friendly. They are always planning events for the residents (well, pre-pandemic anyways). The maintenance staff respond quickly to maintenance requests and they are also kind and courteous. The units are older but well maintained and some have been remodeled. Our unit is a 3 bedroom 2 bath and is a good size for us. In regards to the actual "neighborhood"...it's nice here. It's not loud, you can hear children outside playing, but that's a good thing! No loud music, I don't think I've ever seen the police called out or any really situation requiring intervention. It's a nice play...I'm really glad we landed here for a while.

I have lived at The Abbey for three years and never had any problems. I love the community feel. It is a very safe area. The business manage Melissa is the best. Melissa and the staff has that Southern Hospitality Finesse, and very accommodating. The apartments are beautiful. In the summertime, the pool is the hang out. I have never meet a stranger there. I have the best neighbors in the world. I work at Honda and every time someone would ask me "Where did you chose to live?" I would reply "The Abbey at Inverness" they would say nice choice. I recommend this community to anyone in the area. Thank you The Abbey for making me feel at home while I was away from home. To the possible Honda Associate that may be moving from other States, I highly recommend The Abbey at Inverness. I will be a little drive, but well worth it.

If you have a pet, DO NOT live here. There are no pet friendly amenities, like a dog park or little trash cans (have to take it to the dumpster every time, which are not conveniently located). Biggest issue I had was that other pet owners do not care about pet safety. They actively do not leash their dogs no matter how many emails the complex sent. Complex threatened to register dogs for DNA testing since people were not cleaning up after their pets. Had these issues the entire time I was here and was scared to walk my dog.

In this case it's this tall, skinny maintenance guy with long hair and wears rounded glasses (same maintenance guy from original review). He feels like he can just barge into people's home without giving them adequate time to get up/get to the door. On NUMEROUS occasions, I have been nude (ya know....cause it's MY home) and didn't have time to answer the door before he began entering! Knocking ONCE and saying "maintenance" doesn't give you the RIGHT to enter!! ON TOP OF THAT I said "I'm coming, give me one second" TWICE! I mean I didn't scream it but I said it AT the door so I KNOW he heard me. He also talks to us very rudely as if we are stupid and don't understand what he is explaining. When he's the one NOT listening to what we are saying. Like he has some predetermined opinion on what's going on. He made a snarky comment today implying that we shouldn't have called the emergency (after-hours) line when our A/C went out. He clearly was upset that we had our top lock secured and he had to be a decent human being and WAIT two more seconds for us to answer OUR door.... I open the door, he enters my home with no greeting, tells me he's not taking his shoes off (because he's diabetic) and refuses to put on shoe covers. He then says, "So you called an emergency number last night because your A/C was at 75 degrees?? " ... I wanted to say...First of all, you know we didn't call because it was 75 degrees. You JUST told me your partner informed you that it was 78 degrees when he talked to us. So, No fool! We called because it had been 81 degrees all day and WAS TOLD to call if it hadn't gotten cooler. The ONLY reason it was 78 degrees, WHEN WE CALLED, was because it was now 8 o clock at night!! The ONLY reason it's 75 degrees NOW, is because we were brought a portable A/C so we could sleep comfortably. Which ran at 60 degrees THE ENTIRE NIGHT. If our A/C wasnt the problem, it would be much cooler beyond 75 in the entire place! He made another snarky comment after instructing me to turn the unit on, "Well it's pulling in 75 air now so..." DUH! Because the portable A/C unit is blowing 60 degree air RIGHT HERE next to the vent! It's mixing with the hot air, sir!!! Are you HVAC or am I?? He left without word of how long it would take, if he was coming back up, what to do next, NOTHING. I heard him, speaking loudly, on the phone with someone. I couldn't make out what he was saying about us or the situation. However, at this point, I had already assumed the negative. All I know, is there has been a random box sitting on my doorstep for a few hours. It appears to be A/C stuff in it. So, I assume he is coming back. He has always had SOMETHING snarky to say to us. To either "scold" us for having the top lock secured, to TRY and make us feel like WE are the problem or like WE are doing something wrong! Instead of analyzing the actual problem, talking with your coworkers to figure out what they did and FIXING THE PROBLEM! Instead, it seems, he tries to patch up the issue and gets mad when he has to actually work. "Dont put your air below 70 degrees", he says. We haven't! And its still 81 degrees so what's up? Also, I should be able to have my house cooled to 65 if I want! Especially at night when you can't blame the sun! "Close your blinds, you're on the third floor", he says. Well, this hasn't been a problem before and why else are they there if we cant open them? "75 should be cool enough." For who!?! And that still doesn't fix the fact that the A/C is broken!! "The attic above you is hot, so it's gonna be hot in here." ALL THE MORE REASON WHY WE WANT OUR A/C TO COOL OUR HOUSE PAST 75 DEGREES! I cant help but feel like it's a black and white thing. I can't IMAGINE him talking to, or treating, the white residents like this! I'd much rather have Richard fix our issues from now on! He treats us like PEOPLE and is VERY kind. We even talk about Game of Thrones, sometimes! Never has he been rude or demeaning. Even when he thought I was embellishing on something, he still came to check it without judgement. I lived at the Crowne at Grandview for almost 5 years and I don't think the other reviews are doing…read morethis place justice. The maintenance guys are some of the nicest and most responsive people I have ever had at an apartment (plus they love dogs... extra points!) and the apartments themselves were very nice and well maintained. We really loved living here and would recommend it to anyone looking for an apartment in Birmingham (just know what you're getting into being right off 280). The only "negative" about living here is the sheer amount of Highlands college kids that drive really fast and are quite loud (as well as the massive construction next-door); however, we lived on the quieter side and didn't have an issue except while walking around during the evenings. Thank you Kristy, Richard, Will and Harrison for everything... we appreciate you guys!!!
