This is my updated review after 9 years. Since COVID, I've mostly ordered takeout because whenever I dined in, the place never felt very inviting. Lately, though, I've noticed more people eating in, so we've gone back a few times over the past couple of years. Dosa is my favorite, and since it's something you really need to eat right away, dining in makes sense. We've tried gobi Manchurian and a variety of other dishes, but dosa is still my favorite. Unfortunately, the service is basically nonexistent. No one checks in to see how things are. The last time I ordered a masala soda, it was terrible. I tried getting the server's attention but no one came over. I ended up paying $5 for something I didn't even drink. When it was time to pay, I waved for the check and was told to come up and pay instead. Why I tipped, I honestly don't know--I wasn't happy about that at all. That said, the food is generally good. The sambar wasn't great on our most recent visit a few days ago, but overall the restaurant is always clean and the prices are reasonable. I'll be back, but I really hope the owner or manager reads these reviews and understands that customer service truly makes a difference.

Since we're traveling to Florida, this was a struggle to find an Indian restaurant who caters south Indian food. We looked around and found this place to be Catering a perfect blend of south Indian Indo Chinese vegetarian food as soon as we entered the restaurant you get a feel of being in India somewhere they have very beautiful ambience. The place was very neat and clean as well. I spoke for a few minutes with the manager to understand what were the best dishes that I can order based on my liking recommended a bunch of things which we didn't have time to wait and eat so we ended up taking it to go their service for super good they made sure that the food doesn't get cold and they packed independently and individually in different boxes. They were very courteous to add some extra chutney and some other other items with it. It was super full a heavy bag of food. Everything was at our liking and we would love to visit this place if you're around here.

Finally had a chance to try Woodlands because someone I know has recommended coming here for years. I am not vegetarian by any means and I did not miss having any meat in my dish. The staff is very friendly and happy to explain any item on the menu if you're unsure what to get. The food is flavorful and comes out fast. Despite some of the negative reviews, I really enjoyed everything we had and would definitely return.

Came for lunch on a weekend and were seated immediately. Overall pleased with the quality + value! Recommend the Chana Bhatura and Masala Dosa.

Indian in Lauderhill! Parking here is easy as it is in a strip mall that doesn't have a ton of shops. It does not look like a fancy restaurant but don't let that fool you. The food is authentic and delicious! We had the sampler as it was our first time. All of the dishes were delicious! They have a great pepper sauce you can ask for on the side. The staff is friendly - appears to be mostly family as you see little kids and babies running toward the back area. It was fairly empty when we went on a weeknight and we appreciated the quiet and quick service.

We came here for lunch because I wanted to try their dosas. We ordered their Masala dosa, Mysore spicy dosa and North Indian thali. Service was fast but most of the servers do not speak English, which is not good. They also forgot to give me Rassam with the dosa while another table got it. The inside is nothing special in terms of the ambiance, and they do need to work on hiring better staff. The dosas were good, and the North Indian thali is a good choice if you want to try different things. It comes with rice, naan, paneer curry, daal, Chana masala, gulab jamun, and more! See photos below.

South Indian Dosas from Woodlands! if you've never tried a dosa, they are vegetarian thin "pancakes" or "crepes" filled with a delicious potato filling and come with cold coconut chutney and warm sambar for dipping - they are fantastic! you can get different types of dosas, I always like getting the Onion Rava Masala Dosa, where the crepe is filled with onions & herbs a as an app, we always start off with Sambar Vadas, which are like savory donuts that come with Sambar, a delicious savory broth sauce I pro tip: get extra Sambar, it's the best part (=

Update- Rava dosa is still 5 stars solid. The hakka noodles on the other hand was not up to the mark- it tasted more like a pasta dish than Indochinese.

I just want to start off by saying I'm not even close to being vegetarian lol. The flavor and taste was off the charts! This meal was better than a lot meals I had that weren't vegetarian. I was nervous to try it because I'm not vegetarian nor am I familiar with Indian cuisine. Everything was really really good and we tried an assortment of things. The thali was really good but the Manchurian was my favorite. The curry options in the thali were really good. The restaurant wasn't packed but our waiter was nice and attentive even though the staff didn't speak much English. It was clean and spacious. We sat at a booth. Woodlands Definitely exceeded my expectations and I would recommend to any one looking for a different esthetic and meal.

This place hits the spot every time I come here. Can't confirm if it's the most authentic/best South Indian food ever but it's 10/10 for me at least. Got the Mysore Masala dosa & I'd def recommend it. It tastes incredible and has a good amount of spice in it! I wish there was more Aloo in it but a girl can always dream. Sambar is also just as good! I'd recommend getting the chai to end the meal with. You can taste the ginger and it's a perfect way to end the meal. I don't know about the main restaurant because I believe this was the Express one but it's a small casual standard Indian restaurant. Nothing glitzy so come for the food not the vibes. Bring yourself or your friends. Parking is never an issue and prices are more than fair!

The main reason was one particular soup they serve that you don't see very often locally: Tom Cua, a crab and seafood soup with egg whites, surimi, shrimp, and I believe squid. It's a nice change from the usual pho options. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal reminded us why we haven't been back in a while. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. The rocket shrimp appetizer had been overfried, the egg rolls in Rachel's bun dac biet were noticeably overcooked, and the grilled shrimp on top were dry from being cooked too long. My lemongrass beef arrived with far more onions than beef, and the beef itself was on the tough side. None of it was inedible, but compared with the consistently excellent meals we've had at Pho Gia Vi, it just wasn't close. The Tom Cua was the one dish that justified the trip, but everything else ranged from average to disappointing. I'm glad we went back because it answered the question of whether our memories were accurate. They were. We'll stick with Pho Gia Vi from here on out. It's closer to home, more consistent, and every visit leaves us happy.

They don't care at all about decor. All they care about is the pho! Also, the true litmus test for an Asian restaurant: absolutely full of Vietnamese people. Service was exactly what I want in any authentic Asian spot. Curt, quick, and no nonsense. None of the fawning "how is your food" table visits. This is because they know how amazing their food is. The star of the show is the broth. I swear you could serve it in an old boot and I would ask for seconds! SO AMAZING!! Pure heaven from the first sip to the last. The meat was tender and perfect. The noodles were cooked to perfection, not too firm and not too soft. The cut their jalapeños thick too which I love. I wish I lived closer so I could eat here every week! No music, no people, and just 1 person at the front counter, but the restaurant had good reviews, and I was already there, so... I asked to be seated and went on to order. I had the raw beef, brisket, and fatty flank. It is a medium-sized bowl, and the fixings on the side as usual. I would say that they don't bring you much of the basil leaves or jalapeño slices. But I didn't ask for more either. The broth was very hot and had lots of noodles, which I like, after adding all the fixings, chili oil, hoisin sauce ... etc, I gave it a good try and the flavor was amazingly good. I kept going back for more eventhough it was so hot.... delicious. By the end of it, I was literally sweating from the spicy chili oil and from the temperature of the broth. Ambiance needs a little help but otherwise, it was a great place to enjoy Pho in sunrise. The price was decent, I think it was like $14 bucks. PS: if at the end of it you are not sweating, you are not doing it right. Go back and try again.
