This is one of the only places I come too for Indian/Pakastani treats in south FL. If you happen to pass by early in the day, the desserts are fresh and warm. This restaurant also offers a full meal menu, you have the option for take out, or dine in, and buffet style. I've had food here a couple of times and it sure is delicious. My favorite is the veggie samosas, and the biryani are a definite must! The staff is always welcoming and friendly. The restaurant inside is a bit outdated, they have a few table and chairs set up, it's not fancy or pristine, but, get in, get your food and go, or sit down for a quick bite and move on. Sadly very disappointed by the sweets on display .I purchased few variety boxes as Christmas gifts but they were all same flavor & very dry. Seems like they were sitting around for a while. Oh no. The guy that was running the empty dining room has no clue about proper/logical/acceptable customer recognition and the atmosphere was -0 thought out. Just a hollow, 4 walled, white light, silent room.... I went in and there was a family of Indian descent there. I love that when I go into any ethnic (to me) restaurant. But it was brightly lit and no "authentic" music or anything to create a vibe. Luckily just the unrecognizable chatter of the family to me was enough to make it feel authentic. I ordered and the food took 14 minutes to come out. Fine. I didn't get any rice with it so i asked for that. The rice was clearly forgotten even though there was only me and one other table in there. The family got up and left and he started bussing their table while sitting in one of the chairs on speaker phone with someone. I ate my food that I wanted rice with and left him alone. After 7 minutes (yes I time this stuff) of the phone call and being seated I was done. I ate all my food and finally yelled out "CAN YOU STOP IGNORING ME?" he hung up....went into the kitchen and came out with rice ...i was already done. I asked for a to go container. If you are going to put the money and effort into opening a RESTAURANT know wtf you are doing when it comes to making sure the people that come in got what they came for and don't get ignored especially when THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES IN THERE....if you don't have these basic bits of knowledge don't expect people to feel compelled to come back. this is the second time this has happened (with different "servers") and the last time I will ever go in there. So I'm going to preface this by stating I look forward to supporting small businesses, especially as a brown, woman of color. So when I stumbled upon Nirala's sweets I was game. Unfortunately, the service I experienced was disappointing. The person at the register gave me big time scammy vibes. I specifically asked for items and he continued to add extra ones, several times, even after I said no. Just pushy, to make a sale I guess i don't know. He also approximated my total and didn't tell me the exact cost until i checked my bank account. It wasn't a big difference 1-2 bucks but it's curtesy to your paying customer to tell them what they're paying ? I'm disappointed in the service here more than anything else. The sweets I purchased here were good and while delicious, nothing I can't get from elsewhere with a more welcoming, customer-first service approach. and while they've been in business accordingly for 23 something years, I don't anticipate one review will make them rethink their entire business approach but I can only hope their intent isn't to make their customers feel manipulated into paying a few extra bucks. My boyfriend was in the mood for Pakistani food and this was the only dine-in place open. We walked in and it was very dimly light and un-inviting. I tried my best not to judge it off the lighting. We sat down and were immediately greeted and asked what to drink. The cups were clean but the jug the water was filled in did not seem that clean. We ordered 2 Chicken Tikkas, one Bihari kabob, and 2 garlic naans. That was more than enough food for the both of us and we even ended up taking some home. The food was flavored well and delivered promptly. I would give the actual food 5/5. But sadly the food isn't all the experience is of eating out. The restaurant was not clean. The tables were sticky, there were cobwebs on the light fixtures above the table floating down, and even the utensils and plates seemed to not be washed properly. We decided to give this dive another chance so we pre medicated our selves with some antacids and came prepared lol. The place has cleaned up some since our last visit here and was much better. We started with the Dhai Barrahs and they were very tasty. We ordered the Chicken Lahori churgah and it was very tasty but spicy. The Beef Bihari Kebab was very good! I like desserts from all over and so I was very excited to try this place. This restaurant is located in the middle of a shopping center. The dessert counter is one of the first things you see. They all look colorful diferent shaped and good. I asked the person working the counter to tell me the difference between them. He told that they where all the same. They are all milk based desserts. I then asked the difference in color and size. He responded they all taste the same. Not very inviting but I was feeling adventurous today and I bought a few of them to try. To my surprise he was kinda right they did taste similar. There where some differences in textures. One was like a fried dough with a sugar like syrup. One was like a not so sweet sugar cookie. Another one was like a dulce de leche but not sweet at all. Another was a bake pastry with a really good crust, my favorite. The last one was a dark brown one that had nuts and tasted like not so sweet burnt sugar like dessert. I do wish he had taken the time to explain them a little bit better like I asked. This is definitely a hole in the wall place but very authentic. Every time I'm in here I always see Pakistani/Indian people dining here. They always have a showcase of desserts to choose from at the counter. They also make a very delicious tea with milk. Today was the first time I tried their food. They had a great deal Monday through Friday; $10 all you can eat lunch buffet. The buffet was smaller than what I'm used to but I still left there feeling full and content. Food: Chicken biryani: a mixture of rice and chicken, very flavorful and had lots of bone-in meat in it. Saag: this was chunkier than what I'm used to and didn't have the cottage cheese, it was good but not the best I've had. (Vegetarian friendly). Lentil: this was a thick curry with lentils. It was pretty delicious and vegetarian friendly. Curry chicken: very flavorful and in a green curry with lots of bone-in chicken meat. Tandoori chicken: they also bring out a sizzling plate of red tandoori chicken per your request. This was so flavorful and the best I've ever had! They offered a wide array of sauces, desserts, salad, and white rice. They also brought us tea and a jug of water. The employees were friendly and treated us like family. Overall, even though their buffet selection was limited, the food and service was great and I'd definitely return! We have been to Nirala several times. It is one of the few indian/pakistani restaurants that has been in Fort Lauderdale for more than 15 years. Most pakistani/indian restaurants shut down after a few months due to lack of good quality, but nirala has been quite consistent in its food quality. We have tried several different things here. Just recently for brunch we tried the breakfast platter which includes chana, puri, and halwa. I am not a fan of the halwa, too sweet for my liking, but the chana and puri tasted pretty good. The puri is very flaky, but quite oily. Although not sure how puri can be prepared without being too oily. The chana has a good flavor with potatoes and a wonderful spicy and tangy taste to it. We also tried the keema paratha. Not a fan of the keema. The flavor was alright, but the keema itself was too chunky. The paratha is good and a generous size, exactly how paratha should be. In the past we have also tried the Nihari and haleem. Both are okay, sometimes the taste is absolutely on point but sometimes they fail to deliver. It's a good place if you are really craving pakistani/indian food. The restaurant is known for its mithai (pakistani sweets). My family usually likes them but I am not a fan of it. read more

I went there for chaat. I got the Lahori chaat and the dahi puri. Both were really bad! They put gol guppai inside raita and called it dahi puri. The lahori chaat was a disgrace to Lahore. I was embarrassed in front of my non Pakistani friends. I asked for green chutney and they didn't have any. They piled greasy papadi on top of a ton of tamarind chutney and raita and called it lahori chaat. No color, no appearance, no taste. I wouldn't have written a bad review but 30 mins later... my stomach starting hurting real bad... so god knows what else was wrong with the food! The aroma when you first walk into Nirala sweets is amazing! I enjoy coming here for lunch. My go to is the chicken tikka masala. It is so creamy and has large chunks of white meat chicken. There are dumps, and then there are DUMPS. And then there is Nirala. Been here many, many times. Too many to count. There was a time I would come here because they were one of the few Pakistani/ Indian restaurants around. However, in the last 10 years, countless such restaurants have opened up. Too many to count. And a lot of them are within a couple of miles of Nirala. Nirala just can't compare to those restaurants anymore. This place is dirty. The floor is so oily, I could hardly walk. The path to the bathroom is stacked with supplies and you have to squeeze your way to get there. Right outside the bathrooms is kept the bucket with dirty water and the dirty mop, for all to see and smell as you approach the bathrooms. However. if the food was good, some of the above could be forgiven. But woe is me. We were there for Iftar dinner buffet so I'm actually being very lenient, considering that buffets aren't typically the best criteria by which to judge a restaurant. But even with the leniency, the food quality, quantity and choice are hard to excuse. We got there just as the buffet started and the chicken ran out and wasn't replaced till 1/2 hr later. The meat that was in the Biryani was mostly bone. That packet you get at Bravo that says "cut up chicken" for $0.69/lb. the Haleem didn't seem to have any meat in it. Just Dal. The Gulab Jamun and Jalebi were rock hard. I can go on and on. But why waste time. Too many Indo/Pak restaurants in the area that are far far better to think about and frequent. read more

The most amazing Beef Nihari in Fort Lauderdale. Also the beef paiyas are to die for. Gajjar ka Halwa is good. Almost too good. Meat Naans were also very good Goat Karahi was delicious. I have read the other reviews mostly from Hindu Indians. Hindus generally dont eat cow or any beef related items. So I am not sure how these Indian guys are reviewing the only restaurant i know that serves the above mentioned Pakistani Beef Dishes. They might be better off reviewing Saag Paneer and CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA. Which are your typical Indian restaurant inventions . The place though still could focus on cleanliness. read more

Horrible horrible place to eat. The food is always gone bad and the owner refuses to acknowledge this and makes a pissed off face when you advise him about the spoiling food. Check the HEALTH INSPECTION REPORT. They were ordered shut for 1000 insects in the rice and live roaches. Wow disgusting. Beware of these guys. They even came on channel 10 dirty dining.
