Mixed Indian sweets
Annie S.

I must say the service was very nice and staff friendly . Mediocre for main dishes we tried such as tandoori chicken, goat curry. The naan was dry. Sadly very disappointed by the sweets on display .I purchased few variety boxes as Christmas gifts but they were all same flavor & very dry. Seems like they were sitting around for a while. Didn't take any pictures but I still have some left over sweets as pictured.

Slow service and the food was decent overall. Good halwa puri and nihari. The buffet items were ok. The chai was average. Prices were very reasonable. A satisfactory but forgettable meal.

My boyfriend was in the mood for Pakistani food and this was the only dine-in place open. We walked in and it was very dimly light and un-inviting. I tried my best not to judge it off the lighting. We sat down and were immediately greeted and asked what to drink. The cups were clean but the jug the water was filled in did not seem that clean. We ordered 2 Chicken Tikkas, one Bihari kabob, and 2 garlic naans. That was more than enough food for the both of us and we even ended up taking some home. The food was flavored well and delivered promptly. I would give the actual food 5/5. But sadly the food isn't all the experience is of eating out. The restaurant was not clean. The tables were sticky, there were cobwebs on the light fixtures above the table floating down, and even the utensils and plates seemed to not be washed properly. If I ever did come here again, it would be to order take out. The food was very well made but the service and the cleanliness was close to a 2/5.

We decided to give this dive another chance so we pre medicated our selves with some antacids and came prepared lol. The place has cleaned up some since our last visit here and was much better. We started with the Dhai Barrahs and they were very tasty. We ordered the Chicken Lahori churgah and it was very tasty but spicy. The Beef Bihari Kebab was very good! My favs are the fresh naans which were spot on. Overall if you don't expect too much you will be satisfied. We will be back when in the area!

I like desserts from all over and so I was very excited to try this place. This restaurant is located in the middle of a shopping center. The dessert counter is one of the first things you see. They all look colorful diferent shaped and good. I asked the person working the counter to tell me the difference between them. He told that they where all the same. They are all milk based desserts. I then asked the difference in color and size. He responded they all taste the same. Not very inviting but I was feeling adventurous today and I bought a few of them to try. To my surprise he was kinda right they did taste similar. There where some differences in textures. One was like a fried dough with a sugar like syrup. One was like a not so sweet sugar cookie. Another one was like a dulce de leche but not sweet at all. Another was a bake pastry with a really good crust, my favorite. The last one was a dark brown one that had nuts and tasted like not so sweet burnt sugar like dessert. I do wish he had taken the time to explain them a little bit better like I asked. My choices might have been more pleasant and so would my first time experience to the place. I was not made feel welcome and so I will not come back

This is definitely a hole in the wall place but very authentic. Every time I'm in here I always see Pakistani/Indian people dining here. They always have a showcase of desserts to choose from at the counter. They also make a very delicious tea with milk. Today was the first time I tried their food. They had a great deal Monday through Friday; $10 all you can eat lunch buffet. The buffet was smaller than what I'm used to but I still left there feeling full and content. Food: Chicken biryani: a mixture of rice and chicken, very flavorful and had lots of bone-in meat in it. Saag: this was chunkier than what I'm used to and didn't have the cottage cheese, it was good but not the best I've had. (Vegetarian friendly). Lentil: this was a thick curry with lentils. It was pretty delicious and vegetarian friendly. Curry chicken: very flavorful and in a green curry with lots of bone-in chicken meat. Tandoori chicken: they also bring out a sizzling plate of red tandoori chicken per your request. This was so flavorful and the best I've ever had! They offered a wide array of sauces, desserts, salad, and white rice. They also brought us tea and a jug of water. The employees were friendly and treated us like family. Overall, even though their buffet selection was limited, the food and service was great and I'd definitely return! This is a no frills kind of place; if you're looking for fancy, you will be disappointed. However, it's a good local spot for some decent Indian food.

I normally love the buffet but this time they took slightly forever to bring the biryani. But besides that the food was extremely tasty.

Since Maharaja seemed to be the only Indian place nearby, we figured they got their snacks there. The eatery offers indoor and outdoor dining. And the decor is eclectic and cool. We were the only ones in the restaurant for a while on a Sunday at lunchtime, but soon we were joined by other diners. And like the passengers in the car, they, too, were South Asian. To me, this was a great sign. Our server was extremely polite. And she asked several times if the food was good and if we needed anything. We also got complimentary Indian crackers before our meals. And were given free warm cheese balls for dessert. We ordered the goat korma and the lamb maharaja, both medium spicy, for our meals. The goat was tender but the korma sauce was creamier than expected and a bit sweet with actual bits of raisins. The lamb maharaja was spicier than a medium level. But oh so good with a great tomato sauce that offered a scintillating tingle to our tongues. It was definitely the standout entree. And everything came to the table piping hot, including the dessert cheese ball. We were disappointed with our order of naan. It was flat and tasteless. We've had better naan from a grocery store package. While the food definitely was very good, we thought the prices were a bit high. Our entrees were close to $30 each. And the portions were decent but not ample. Lunch for 2 with 2 entrees, an order of naan, tax, and tip, was $80.

Either way, feeling alittle adventurous then try brain masala. Yucky ? No actually it tastes very good, as a kid I was totally grossed out by the whole concept of this Pakistani delicacy. As a adult I have gotten to the point that I want to try different unique foods and see if I like them. Bundo khan is a "minimalist" restaurant, actually it is a shabby looking restaurant with no sense of decor or beauty. The food takes forever to cook (45 mins at least) so go on a day where you have time or place the order on the phone. However, brain masala is one item on the menu that keeps me going back every few weeks when my palate craves some brain food. You can get a order of daal (lentils) they are made in thick gravy sauce and are good. I do not recommend the kabobs or chicken tikkah etc because the portions are so small and dry it's not even funny. If you want to step it up a notch and your palate is on a wild streak, get takka tak ! You must be thinking takka, whatt ? Let me explain takka tak is also another delicacy and it is a mixture of maghaz(brain), gurda(kidneys), champein(ribs) etc. All these organs are chopped and mixed together to make a unique dish with masala (spices). Takka tak word originates from the way the chef chops the pieces and you hear a cool sound in his knife mastery. So, I suggest to order brain masala and takka tak and see which one your palate likes best.

But that was almost two decades ago, and since then, a couple of others (Bombay Grill, Indian Chilies, to name a few) have come and gone. Hopefully, this eatery will be here for a awhile. Because the food and service are extremely good. The place is clean and decorated like a banquet hall ready to host a special occasion. My friend and I had a Saturday buffet lunch here. We were never offered a menu, so I don't know if one could order a separate dish. But we gladly sifted through the offerings, tasting all that appealed to us. There was soup, samosas, tandoori, biryani, lentil dishes, plain basmati rice, two kinds of potatoes, butter chicken, a chicken curry, and others, as well as sweet cheese balls for dessert. They even offered a milky masala tea. And your meal comes with dosas and naan. I loved the slightly spicy tamarind chutney, one of a few sauces, available. I especially liked the soup, samosa, tender tandoori chicken, the biryani, and the dalwa. I gobbled up my dosa and naan dousing them in tamarind chutney. The weekend lunch buffet (Saturday and Sunday only) is $22.95 and with tax and tip it costs close to $30. The restaurant does have a weekday lunch plate that is $13.99 that comes with a choice of an entree (selected from a list) and some sides. I am hoping to try that next.

When we first arrived, we were the only people inside. The restaurant was larger than it appeared from the street/outside. All the tables were covered in white table linens. There was a regular menu plus some lunch specials as well as a combo lunch special plate advertised on a table placard. The lunch specials were very well priced and appealing, but we decided to go with the special combo as it included both naan and rice and a drink/soda. The combo plate had 2 pieces of plain naan and fluffy basmati rice in the center, then sections with spicy lentil dahl, roasted tandoori chicken on the bone topped with raw onions, a fried samosa (stuffed with potatoes?) appetizer that was a bit spicy, creamy butter chicken (white meat chunks) in a savory sauce, and for dessert: sweet gulab jamun. Everything was quite good. We even took a bit of our lunch home for a later meal. My husband enjoyed a hot milk chai (tea) and I just had a soda for my included drink. While we were dining, we got to watch/hear some Bollywood style videos on the large screen TV. It was a good background to our meal. We had good service. We liked everything on the combo. And we'd love to come back to try their weekend buffet.

Lately, though, I've noticed more people eating in, so we've gone back a few times over the past couple of years. Dosa is my favorite, and since it's something you really need to eat right away, dining in makes sense. We've tried gobi Manchurian and a variety of other dishes, but dosa is still my favorite. Unfortunately, the service is basically nonexistent. No one checks in to see how things are. The last time I ordered a masala soda, it was terrible. I tried getting the server's attention but no one came over. I ended up paying $5 for something I didn't even drink. When it was time to pay, I waved for the check and was told to come up and pay instead. Why I tipped, I honestly don't know--I wasn't happy about that at all. That said, the food is generally good. The sambar wasn't great on our most recent visit a few days ago, but overall the restaurant is always clean and the prices are reasonable. I'll be back, but I really hope the owner or manager reads these reviews and understands that customer service truly makes a difference.
