    Butter chicken and garlic naan
    Wai H.

Great Indian food in Oakland park. Super quick service during dinner time and friendly servers. The butter chicken was so flavorful and is a good portion as well. There is plenty of seating inside and spots to sit at the bar too. They were setting up the buffet area and would be interested to check that out next time.

Good stuff @ Tandoori Chicken w/ Garlic Naan. Comes with Chutney sauces on the side. Garlic Naan could be a bit more garlicky. Chicken was fresh and uber flavorful. I def. recommend.

Looking for DELICIOUS Indian food? Look no further! Bombay Cafe is a staple in Oakland Park, I remember seeing this restaurant as a kid and then enjoying it in my late teens to an adult. The food and service are incredible. Recently did take out and the Chicken Tandoori is perfectly cooked in a clay pot, the Lamb Vindaloo is tender, flavorful and spicy! We got it medium and it gave me the forehead and nose sweats -- but not complaints! It was everything we wanted!

    Meal with rice and naan

My husband and I were big fans of this restaurant when it was on Andrews Avenue (and I worked nearby). We lost track of it and just discovered its new location in Oakland Park. We went for lunch on a Monday and were the only diners for the hour or so we were there. The place is large, seating at least 80. And servers are very attentive. We had the 1/2 chicken tandoori and the lamb kadhai, both medium spicy. And of course, an order of naan. The dishes were brought to our table by the chef with the tandoori sizzling and the kadhai hot. They were accompanied by rice and a tray of four different sauces. (My favorite is always the tamarind chutney. I especially like it on my naan, after the meal, as a sweet treat.) The tandoori was tasty and moist. The kadhai was a wee bit dry and a tad salty. Nevertheless, the flavors still were good with thin strips of ginger used as a garnish on top. There is no buffet and no lunch menu. The meal with 2 entrees and an order of naan with tax and tip was $47. Be warned: There is a more than 3% surcharge to use a credit card. Since they were charging more than we would make from the credit card for the purchase, and we had just enough cash, we opted to pay with cash.

Went on a friday afternoon around 1:30. The place was empty but the guy tended to us right away and helped us choose a plate. The food didnt take long and was absolutely delicious!!! Would recommend.

Went to Bombay Cafe for the first time yesterday and I think I found my new fav Indian restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious and arrived hot. The food looked so good, I totally forgot to take pictures of the entrees I got (paneer bhurji and palak kofta). I have a hard time finding a good Indian restaurant because many times I feel as if the various gravies taste the same or have a lot of sweetness added however, this was not the case for Bombay cafe. Each entree had a distinct taste and was packed with flavor. Will be going back to try some more options. The restaurant itself was reasonably priced as well. The staff were friendly.

For those who used to go to their old location on Andrews Avenue (I never did and their sign is still up there), this will be a bit of a change. It's now on the south side of Oakland Park Bvd where the former Peruvian restaurant was located. Parking is easy out front. There's no real ambiance inside here, but you won't miss it. There's no lunch buffet (which they used to have) and no separate lunch menu. They have the same menu for lunch and dinner. That being said, what we ordered was wonderfully delicious. My husband got their lamb Rogan Josh. I ordered their chicken tikka masala. Both come with white rice. And he added an order of garlic naan. Both entrees came out piping hot with the tenderest chunks of meat in their savory sauces. The server hadn't asked for a spice level. The rogan josh was a tad more peppery than the tikka masala. Both had a depth of spices, however. We both really liked our meals. My husband had about a third left and took it home. I had eaten all the chicken in mine, but also took the sauce home along with some leftover rice. (We added some more meat to the sauces and had it again for dinner that night). So glad we got to try this restaurant. And sorry we didn't come sooner to their former location.

This location is a big change from their former place on N. Andrews. It has a much more open and modern feel, and the place looks spotless. Based on their new website, we came on Wednesday for their daily luncheon buffet. We were disappointed there was no buffet, and the waiter even claimed it doesn't say so (we had to show it to him). Lunch and dinner apparently uses the same menu and prices. There is a pretty large selection of Indian vegan, vegetarian and meat dishes, and even Indo-Chinese. I selected Lamb Vindaloo and my two friends both ordered Tandoori Chicken. The vindaloo was creamy, tasty and just the right amount of spice and heat. The lamb chunks were cooked nice and tender. The chicken came in sizzling platters. The white pieces were bit dry, but the dark pieces were perfect. The naan was great, and the condiment assortment added to the enjoyment of the meal. While we didn't get a buffet, we did get fresh made-to-order dishes and not over-cooked food in steamers.

Pre Covid are used to go when they were at the other location on Andrews Avenue. This is the first time I ate at the new location on Oakland Park Boulevard. The food was absolutely superb. I had the lamb vindaloo to perfection. And ordered whole wheat roti bread. Whatever order here I always love the meal. it's kind of sad that they no longer have the Buffet. That used to be the staple for lunch and on weekends. Nevertheless, this place has superb, genuine Indian food which I highly recommend you try.

It's grounded in the traditional flavors that make Indian food feel authentic, but it's presented with intention, from the bar to the plate. (You can tell the kitchen cares.) We started with cocktails plus a Taj Mahal beer and a lychee martini. The martini had a subtle Indian touch, lightly floral and not overly sweet. A strong start. Naturally, we ordered the samosas. Perfectly crisp, with a well-balanced spice blend inside. Do not skip the mint and tamarind dipping sauces. They bring the whole bite to life. For mains, my wife went with the Goan shrimp. Not too spicy, with a gentle hint of coconut that keeps it smooth and satisfying. I had the Valentine's lamb shank special, bone-in and slow-cooked in a tomato-forward sauce that smelled like pure Indian spice the second it hit the table. Rich, warm, and worth ordering if you see it. Get the basmati rice and garlic naan. Both are more than enough to share. If you're in town and the usual spots aren't doing it for you, put Moksha on the list. Great meal, great price, and the kind of dinner that feels like a real night out.

The Lamb was tender and deeply savory. Also got to try the Vegetable Korma, which was full of fresh and tasty vegetables. The Korma sauce was delightfully creamy and delicious. Service was wonderful. My first comment is the menu is WAY too big for any restaurant. I don't see how this is manageable for a restaurant to remain profitable. (I watch food Network a lot and you see this all the time) It took us at least 20 minutes to thoroughly look through this book of dishes and try to read to see what all of it is. Just like my first visit, I was ready to try something new that I had never had before. I choose Gongura Biryani listed, has some ingredients I've never had, sounded good. Immediately the (owner maybe?) is there, he tries to talk me out of this dish. Says you know it has A and B. Yes, I read the menu, that's why I picked it. I don't feel he was being friendly at this point. He was annoyed that I wanted that dish and I felt just didn't want to make it. Just like the last visit when I was there! I know this dish has unusual ingredients and it has to be baked and so it would take longer, I expect that. The bottom line is the menu is too big, there aren't enough customers in the place to support it. They don't want to make some dishes because they take too long or they really aren't prepared with the ingredients it takes. I don't know which but I was annoyed that he tried to change my mind for the second time. It took me 20 minutes to come up with that decision because the menu is just way too big only to be told maybe I want something else. The Gongura Biriyani was excellent. The other diners had Paneer Saaq and Chicken Korm. Not much cheese in the Saaq, kind of a small portion compared to the Biryani I was served. The meals were not coordinated either. They came out piece meal. They were done eating by the time the Biriyani arrived. You weren't busy so this could have been timed better and served together. I mostly liked the food but something is going on there in the kitchen. Probably fighting to survive in that location. No one is ever there. Good luck!

You may try one time but nobody should be a returning customer. I don't know about other people but Indians for sure won't be going here again. Why? Let me explain. This is not a sit down restaurant and you are charging $20 just for noodles. There is hardly any vegetables or eggs in the noodles. One has to pay additional $6 for chicken, with tax that is a huge number. You can also pay additional for vegetables and eggs. You are going to charge for vegetables? Seriously !!! Well, I still paid this additional amount ($6 for chicken) but you guys were so stingy. You did not even give me chicken equivalent to one breast piece. Bell pepper was in guest appearance. Where were spring onions or onions ? If you want to succeed in this market especially with Indians you will have to give them good quality. This is not going to fly. $30 just to eat carbs is a lot. In $30 I can get nice chicken curry from Bombay darbar or other fancy Indian restaurant. I grew up in India eating this food so I know how it should be. You are on right track but don't be so stingy or else decrease your prices. Biryani may be one can try. They gave one leg and thigh piece and half boiled egg. So that is reasonable. Gave 3 star because of biryani. Sorry for leaving bad review but take this as a helpful feedback and fix quantity and high charges. $20 for noodles is enough.
