When getting restaurant recommendations, I like to hear from people who grew up eating that type of food. So when an Indian man recommended Deccan Spice to me, I figured it would most likely be good. Deccan Spice is better than good. The food is so flavorful. I'm a sucker for some Samosas. And their Samosas are great. They have a Tamarind Sauce that I would pour on everything if I could, it's so good. You MUST try the Mango Lassi. It's so refreshing. My description wouldn't do it justice. I think the Shrimp Biryani is my favorite dish. But everything I've had there has been delicious. If you're not used to South Asian spicy food, be careful. I wouldn't recommend anything higher than medium spicy to the uninitiated. Indian spicy is no joke. Don't let the location and store front fool you. Deccan Spice is excellent, and I have to say it's the best Indian cuisine I've ever had! The food is amazing, the decor is trendy, and the service was in point. They had a very large party dining near us, but our service did not suffer because of it. Wow! Talk about flavor! Deccan Spice definitely covers the gamut for filling tastebuds with lots and lots of flavor. Not a connoisseur of ordering Indian cuisine, I was grateful that Wally, the maître d' at Deccan Spice was willing and patient to explain multiple dinner choices. Even though I chose mild, I still found myself drinking lots of water, but the meal was excellent. While deciding on my order, I noticed multiple orders being picked up for delivery. Apparently, Deccan Spice is quite popular. If anyone knows me, Indian food is my jam. It is my go-to feel good food. It is probably in short is my favourite cuisine. Therefore, in a nutshell I am on a quest to sample all Indian food wheIever i go. So.... after a google search whilst in the area, it led me here. The service was friendly and fast. I ordered my go to - chicken tikka masala with a medium spice. I also ordered a peshwari styled naan (they called it something else here). The food came out piping hot. It hit the spot. What was interesting for me to notice was the curry was not as orangey red as other establishments. The food delivered in the flavour, I was not disappointed. AUTHENTIC. That's the main descriptive word I'd use. My husband is Indian and he was taken back by it being "real Indian food". We got the Rogan Josh with goat and chicken tikka masala. Even the chicken tikka tasted more true to au theatric Indian cuisine than most restaurants. (My husband said to try the butter chicken if you want something a little easier). We also got samosas as an app and a mango lassi to share after our meal. Both great! It was kind of an intense experience lol but I would definitely come back! The service was great - our waitress was very personal and the other workers were also attentive. And it's a great atmosphere. Tonight we dined at Deccan Spice, and it was amazing--just like every time we enjoy Indian cuisine! I ordered the Andhra Lamb Curry, which was bursting with flavor. I'd recommend choosing mild to medium spice, as the medium was just a touch too hot for me. My husband went for the Chicken Goan Vindaloo, extra spicy, and he absolutely loved both the heat and the depth of flavor. Each dish was served with perfectly cooked basmati rice, and we started with garlic naan, which was fresh, fragrant, and delicious. A special mention to Sumanth, our server--he was not only attentive but also had a great sense of humor, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. We arrived in the middle of the lunch hour, the restaurant has about 75% full which normally is a good sign but maybe not so much for us since we didn't make a reservation. Luckily we got the table pretty quickly. Note to self, make reservation next time. The manager asked if we had been there before, our reply was no it's our first time, he continued to take us through the Buffet offerings and led us to the table. Good service, a little personal touch goes a long way. We chose the buffet @$24 which is a good deal for what was on the menu. They have a full bar and a big wine display, for folks that may want to indulge. Anyways the have a vegetarian side and a non vegetarian side of the buffet, plus self serve Pani Puri and made to order Dosa station. The have apps, a good selection of curries and Biryani. The food overall was pretty good. The reasons I dropped a star was the tight space between the buffet station and tables. Also food could have been a little better. This is one of my fav Indian restaurants in the area. Buffet is okay but their dinner dishes are exceptional. I had tried their Apollo fish, Colombo shrimp, Goat biryani, lentil soup. Each dish was well marinated, had a punch of spice that made you coming for more. Their Afghani naan was very flavorful and Badam milk was rich. There aren't a lot of good Indian restaurants in FLL area so this was a welcome relief. The interior was well adorned with photographs many of them from the colonial past. Deccan spice is very reasonably priced for the quality and quantity of food they provide. Service was a bit slow even on a weeknight when the restaurant wasn't super occupied. Just some constructive feedback there but in no means a complaint. Really want this place to flourish because I love it. read more

Since we were in the neighborhood, we went to try their lunch buffet on October 20th, 2024. I must say if anyone hasn't tried Indian cuisine, this is the place to get a taste of India. The buffet includes right from the famous Indian Masala Chai, Pani Puri, Indian chat, various bhajias, and varied tandoori items to the various curries (Vegetaria, Chicken, Lamb, Shrimp) Biryanis, condiments, and desserts. They also spoil you with a complimentary mini dosa. You can't go wrong over here @ $23.00. It's seems popular as it was pretty busy when we went around 1pm My favorites were the tandoori items & Masala Chai, among others. It was a delightful meal, with good food and excellent service here at Deccan Spice last night. I've always loved Indian food, and I can appreciate the time it takes and the varied ingredients required to authenticate a tremendous traditional dish. We arrived at a mostly empty restaurant at around 6:30, which was surprising since there was a crowd and a long line next door at the Japanese buffet. We were delighted to be seated quickly and immediately brought menus and water. We noticed the clean, open space with beautiful art and photos adorning the walls. The bar area is amazing, well stocked with some Indian beers too. Knowing we don't have big appetites, we wanted to share a main dish and get a few appetizers. The first appetizer was a serving of vegetarian Samosas. They were not too heavily breaded and filled with potatoes and peas. They were good, but I would have loved to see more vegetables inside. Also, I would have loved to have a choice between a veggie filling and a meat/chicken filling. Nonetheless, it was very satisfying. The sauces delivered with the dish were also delicious. For Dinner, we ordered a Shrimp Biryani. It was ample and delicious, but I would have preferred that the shrimp had not been deep-fried and that the tails had already been removed. Yet the flavors were so wonderful that my comments are merely suggestions. We also ordered Naan with cheese. This wasn't very pleasant since it appeared to be pita pockets sprinkled with cheese. It could have been better compared to the quality and flavor of the rest of the meal. We did eat it, and it was okay, but again, this is not what we expected. I gave this restaurant five stars because it's better than other Indian food restaurants in the area I had experienced; the prices per entree were fair and reasonable, and the flavors were sensational. We had Thanksgiving lunch and it was an excellent selection of many delicious Indian dishes that went beyond there excellent buffet. My wife thought it was more genuine spicy but I did not notice any difference between the superb selections. It is the best Indian buffet in Broward and West Palm Beach and it is always a pleasure to find genuine dishes. I have written other 5 star reviews for Deccan Spice but they went out for Thanksgiving and even had a turkey for traditionalists. I tried two dishes that were recommended to me that I've never tried before (lollipop chicken and a paneer appetizer) and they were so damn good! The service was excellent as well and the owner was incredibly kind and we had a great chat. The interior was also really well decorated and is a great spot for dinner with a group or date. I love buffets so this one is one I have been eyeing for a while. Finally went in on a Saturday and the place was not too busy, but there were two large parties, one in the private room in the back and another one taking a large table in the main dining area. The service was really nice, the waiters and the people who help bus the tables were very attentive to cleaning up the empty plates. I have attached a bunch of pictures with some of the major items on the buffet...all of them have the written description on the photo. There were a lot of vegan items on the buffet, so anyone wanting to get vegetarian options, this is a good place for it. Most of the meat items were chicken and a few lamb dishes. The biryani had nice pieces of chicken (with bones) in it, and it was nicely spiced. The tandoori chicken was also very good, but my favorite was the Pepper Chicken, it was lightly fried with a nice medium spice level in it. The food here is delicious, authentic as ever and full of flavor. When I arrived to pick up my Uber Eats order, the restaurant was so packed. There were about 30 tables and they were all full.the place is spacious and well lit and delicious smells engulf the senses when you walk in. I timed my order carefully so it would be ready when i got to the area. When i got there however They told me my order wasn't ready yet, despite them marking it as prepared on the app. We waited about 20 extra minutes. When it finally came out and we were reviewing our order on the side before leaving, we decided to order more naan. They could have offered us this simple piece of bread as a gift since we waited so long but that's no biggie. It also took forever and then the staff was a little rude in handing it to us so i was a little irked which is why im not leaving the full 5 stars. But on to the food.. The butter chicken was so good, perfectly spicy with balanced flavors and thick sauce perfect for dipping our naan. The biryani was also amazing but they put the entire chicken drumstick in there, whereas normally it comes minced or at least pulled. The Dahl was really good too. Honestly the food is great and if you use Uber eats the biryanis are BOGO. maybe they were just a bit stressed with how busy the restaurant was. Set inside the Walmart shopping center, the Deccan Spice exterior is pretty nondescript; however the interior ambiance is a beautiful blend of contemporary design with old framed Indian photographs that look familial and historical. Pretty classy. Four of us went for the daily lunch buffet. The assortment is amazing, and you probably need 2 plate rounds if you want to try a bit of everything. My favorites were the chicken curry and the deep fried fish pieces. We were the only customers there for awhile so had to ask for naan to be made. They also took away the basmati rice for some reason. Indian buffet without basmati rice?! It's hard to find an Indian restaurant around here that offers midweek lunch buffet. Giving one star only for the good service. This is my first time getting food from here. I placed a take out order. The restaurant is in a huge shopping complex, so plenty of parking available. The ambiance looked really good! The staff was super nice and friendly. I ordered the Deccan special biryani, the biryani came with raita. Raita was decent but the biryani was so bad. I said spicy, but it was very bland. No spices or salt. Chicken wasn't cooked properly either. The rice was tasteless. Tasted stale as well. Won't go again. Wouldn't recommend this place. read more
