I'm so excited to find Pani Puri here!
Terri E.

Funny how I've never really noticed this hidden spot. We go to Leaf House a few stores down all the time and have passed this place tons. My husband suggested something new and he had lunch here one day so this is where we ended up. Im always down to try out new places. It's a small Indian restaurant with simple decor. First off, I saw pani puri and freaked out because I can never find this anywhere!!! My Indian friend use to make pani puri for their parties and it was so fun to eat, very unique too. I love the cold chutney served inside the puri puffs. Sam was our server and she was so nice and accommodating. We asked for suggestions on the menu items and she helped us with our selections. We ended up getting pani puri (of course), butter chicken, barbeque platter and garlic naan. Pani puri hit the spot. Just as good as I remember it. Everyone's favorite was the butter chicken, it had good flavor and even more delicious when you dip the garlic naan in that sauce! Garlic naan was perfectly garlicky, the more garlic, the better. Barbeque platter was just ok, a lot of the meat was dry, not juicy at all. Other than that, we had a nice experience.

I have been coming to this place since it was Indian, Peruvian, and Italian. That's over 20 years ago. This was the first place I ever had butter chicken, and held EVERY SINGLE PLACE to this standard since. I lived around the corner and I was obsessed with everything I ever had there, including Peruvian. Since then, I moved to Fort Lauderdale and it switched owners. I came back whenever I was in the area, but then it had switched owners. The butter chicken was still good. I have now moved to palm beach and been here over 6 years, and now it's owned by Pakistani, Indian owners. This by far has been THE BEST of all ownership's in term of cooking. Wow, just wow. The spice level was amazing. I always say spicy and they give me a rundown version for American palate. This place delivered. Butter chicken was creamy, with a hint of sweetness that was perfection. I had wanted the DAAL makhani and they didn't have, but they gave me a complimentary Daal (yellow) to try. It was spectacular. It had a smokiness to it that was soooooo good. I will have that every single time I go. The naan was totally homemade, not like neighboring Indian restaurants. The place isn't much to look at but, it's clean and the staff is wonderful. I will go back and back each time I'm in the área.

I wanted to get Thai because I was craving Panang Curry, but driving home from errands didn't seem to have me driving by any Thai places. However, I passed by this location and decided to ultimately forgo my Thai cravings and go with Indian. When I went in, the tables were completely empty; that should have been a red flag. The menu is pretty small compared to other locations, but I was just happy that they had Butter Chicken. I got takeout and went with the side of rice instead of naan. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be ready; which was fine since it let me explore the Indian market that was just a couple stores down from where Ellie's is located. It wasn't as good as some other places I've been too, but I would say if you are in a pinch for Indian, check it out!

Chicken lo mein

Their menu offers Desi, American and Asian dishes. The tandoori bbq was tasty. The spicy chicken subs were quite large and delicious. Ask for extra sauce. Pass on the Asian dishes. We tried a few of the chicken and beef dishes and they were very bland. The Lo Mein was decent.

Always a good take out spot food is made fresh to order. The Philly cheese steak & spicy chicken sandwich is very tasty with a good spicy flavor. We also got the chicken biriyani. The only thing is I wish the chicken biriyani had more chicken

First time there the food was really good. Service was a little slow just because it got busy at the same time we walked in and only one server. But definitely will be back.

Ellie's has been around for quite some time now and since then have more to offer in their menu then it was back in the days, however the authenticity has been lost. With more options to offer the taste and quality has been compromised. Known for their famous Ellie's spicy chicken sandwich, the sandwich has gone through change of recipe and doesn't taste quite the same as it used to be. The food is also not consistent when it comes to taste and freshness. We have dinned in many times where the food was amazing and there were days when the trip was a complete waste which perhaps is why it took me so long to write this review. After trying them several times, I have decided to finally write this review and give them the 3 stars they deserve for the inconsistency.

1 samosa...
Pilar L.

The menu had very limited Indian options. I was expecting Lamb, Chicken and Goat variations. I saw foods from other countries & cultures on there. No Chicken 65? I should've left right than and there. The music was Indian at least but barely any business. One samosa is 3.25, 3.50 for beef.... I decided to give it a chance but I'm not impressed at all, whatsoever.

Karachi chicken

This was the first time I've been here. I arrived around 5pm on a very rainy weekday and was the only customer at that time. Needless to say, service was very quick, and the food was prepared very quickly. I ordered a Karachi chicken- made spicy. The flavor was wonderful- very aromatic, pungent, and perfectly seasoned. My only gripe would he that the chicken was composed only of bony drumsticks with not very much meat on the sinews, and not even one piece of breast meat. Typically, chicken dishes are made with more premium cuts. In spite of this, I really enjoyed eating the thick sauce and picked around the bones. The Naan was perfect though. Would I come back? Probably so- but I probably would ask for breast meat the next time and reserve the drum sticks for people who prefer the extra textures they give.

The Beef Nihari Was the best I've had in Florida. Service was great, price was reasonable and the interior was good. Easy to find, and would recommend the buffer on Fiday-Saturday night!

Menu Page 1

The Aloo Baingan was average and not as spicy as I expected it to be... The server was nice and friendly... The service room was spacious, bright, and clean... The menu looks impressive and offers many interesting choices... Their delicious and healthy desserts are made from milk, nuts, and sugar... The location is convenient and easy to find... Parking can be somewhat limited... I like Indian-Pakistani Halal foods and will come back to try other dishes when I am in the neighborhood...

I've been here multiple times and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they genuinely care about the food they're serving. Everything tastes fresh and handmade, especially the dumplings. The wrappers are perfectly tender, the fillings are flavorful, and nothing tastes mass produced or rushed. The space itself is clean, simple, and comfortable.... exactly what you want for a casual dumpling spot. Service is efficient, orders come out hot, and the quality is consistent every single visit. We ordered the beef soup dumplings and the chive, pork, and shrimp steamed dumplings. Both were excellent especially if you pair it with the chili crisp oil and dumpling sauce. If you're craving real, comforting dumplings and want to support a local spot that does things right, this place is absolutely worth stopping into. A true hidden gem that delivers every time.

The service is good: the young man asked us if we'd like some black vinegar and hot water (he said yes to me, bringing in my tea, when the restaurant had only one other couple): Thanks. I'm wondering if the creator(s) are from northeast China: the fillings, especially the dumplings, are very solid, and the wontons are chubby. An Asian woman is making the dumplings behind the glass window. The small logo on their black plastic tableware is thoughtful and appreciated.

When we arrived and parked, we were a bit disillusioned with the outside look. The sign above the roof was faded and it had missing letters. The windows had a metallic tinted film that made it impossible to see the inside of the restaurant...so the curb appeal of the place was 1/10. Really. A hole-in-the wall. When we walked in, we were greeted nicely by a man and we got a nice table by the entrance.. We saw the tanks full of fish and crabs moving and swimming right by our table. The menu was really authentic...they had many of the dishes you could not find at other places like frog legs, squab, sea cucumber, quail, etc. We ordered two BBQ roasted squabs, a wonton soup with no noodles and a shrimp and scallop vegetable dish. All the food was outstanding....really good tasting, really well made. The big bowl of steamed rice was complementary. If you are looking for Authentic Chinese, give Dragon City a try. They also sell fried rice, chow mein, chow fun, mei fun and other more well known dishes for those that are not so adventurous.

Located off Stirling Road (accessible from both directions), Hong's BBQ sits amongst the various shops that make up the Stirling Place Plaza. If you're here based off your search for food around the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Hollywood, you've got the same idea as us and this review is for you; Hong's is essentially "around the corner" from the casino and a great option if you want to venture off the resort for some great food. Recommended by a source for reliable eats, we decided to give Hong's BBQ a go before our trip back to Tampa. We found that Hong's BBQ has some great authentic Canto-style Chinese cuisine. Not big by any means (you can't necessarily host a large banquet style gathering here), there is definitely ample seating - mainly suited for parties of 4. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and had no issues being seated - although the restaurant maintained a steady flow of customers in and out of the restaurant. There are a few larger round tables scatter throughout with the typical lazy-susan setup in the center that may accommodate larger parties of 6-8. If you're not interested in dining-in, there is definitely a "butcher's" station/display that is set up toward the back of the dining section. The setup within the restaurant definitely brought back nostalgic memories of Chinatown restaurants and their racks of char-siu, roast duck, pig, and soy chicken hanging under the heating lamps. From here, you can order cuts of the aforementioned meats by weight without the "extras." The menu offered a great variety of Canto-style cuisine; I would argue that it's hard to go wrong with a choice based on their selections they have available. We ordered two noodle soups (roast duck and char siu), along with an order of the beef chow fun, which were all outstanding. Beginning with the noodle soups, you have 3 different noodle options; I opted for the flat rice noodles which I instantly craved upon identifying it as a choice. The noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection that had a good amount of "bounce" while easy to chew. The broth was also on a whole other level that warrants praise in itself. The beef chow fun is also a must - yes, I recognize that this may be considered a "basic" choice, but Hong's BBQ makes this the right way. The service wasn't poor - let's just say that it falls in line with the coveted 3-star Asian restaurant rating (If you know, you know). The servers knew how and when to deliver. All in all, Hong's BBQ is a great place to dine with your family. I would recommend this to anyone in or travelling to this area.

But it slowly got more diners, with about 5 tables filled before we left. Service was fine but the waitress who took our order barely spoke English and it was difficult getting answers about items on the menu. Nevertheless, we ordered pan-fried dumplings, the three meat combo plate with roast duck, BBQ roast pork, and crispy pork. We also got a seafood platter with salt and pepper shrimp, squid, and scallops. The latter didn't have much taste. We couldn't even taste any salt and pepper. The dish came on a bed of shredded raw cabbage. There was no rice. When I asked, the server (a different one from the woman who took our order) brought us a small bowl. They had forgotten to put the rice on the plate. (The dish is advertised as being served on a bed of rice.) The meat platter was decent. Although the duck skin needed to be crispier, the pork skin was very crispy. The BBQ roast pork was tasty, boasting a nice char siu flavor. The few strands of Chinese broccoli that was served with the dish was cold, as if it was added from the refrigerator. We enjoyed the pan-fried dumplings. They seemed to be homemade. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was $66.
