Finding truly good pizza in Charleston is harder than it should be, so when we found Woodhaven, we were excited. Their thin crust pizza is honestly some of the better pizza we've had in the area. The crust has a great texture, the pies are balanced well, and overall the flavors are consistently good. That said... I have one recurring frustration that keeps happening every single time we order. We always add fresh garlic, and every single time, you can't taste it at all. And let's be honest -- real fresh garlic, if it's actually fresh and used generously, should absolutely announce itself on a pizza. It should hit with conviction. Either it's barely being added, forgotten entirely, or it's the bland jarred stuff pretending to be fresh garlic. It's frustrating because the pizza itself is genuinely good, and this feels like such an easy fix that would take the pies to another level. We'll definitely keep coming back because good pizza in Charleston is rare, but please... let the garlic show up to the party. read more

Nothing quite like being told there's a 20-minute wait... while staring at a dining room that's half empty. Apparently the empty tables were just for decoration. We were told they were "behind," which must mean the tables were tired and needed a break, because there were plenty of them just sitting there doing absolutely nothing. It's always impressive when a restaurant manages to create a wait without actually being busy. If the goal was to make customers question reality, mission accomplished. Otherwise, it just felt like poor management and a front-of-house system that's completely out of sync. Waiting when a place is packed makes sense -- waiting when you can count the empty tables on both hands (and then some) just comes off as poorly run. Hopefully they figure it out... or at least put the empty tables back into active duty. Food is below average anyway so I won't be returning. And restaurants wonder why they go out of business and blame the economy. It's not the economy most of the time it's that they just don't know what they're doing. read more

Woodhaven Pizza was a pleasant surprise. I grabbed a margherita slice and it tasted pretty good, flavorful with that classic simplicity you want from the style. For South Carolina, they're holding their own. The staff was extremely accommodating, genuinely friendly, and kept things moving without making anyone feel rushed. One thing I really appreciated, they serve slices individually just like NYC spots do. That alone puts them a step ahead of most places trying to fake the New York vibe. Looked like they saved it from lunch under a warmer, then we picked up a slice, beggars not being choosers since we are here on a job and needing to eat. The entire bottom is charred. Burnt beyond edible. Still tried to take a bite closer to the crust top, less black. It was awful. I honestly don't know how they are in business if this is what they put out. Maybe less burnt if eating in? It definitely didn't get more burnt while being delivered. Just bad!!! read more

The pizza taste is very good however the large pizza slices are tiny and costs $22 for just a cheese pie. Normally I can feed my family of 4 on one large pie. I'd probably have to buy 3 from woodhaven. I'm not willing to spend $66 for pizza. read more

Ordered pasta dish - pasta was completely undercooked. I don't return food dishes often but asked for a new one with fully cooked pasta. The second one was also undercooked, even more undercooked than the first. The server asked if it was ok, I said no, told her I couldn't eat it, left it on the table, waited for the other one in my party to eat his below average meal. My meal was left uneaten, told waitress 2 tries at pasta did not work for them and asked for check. No charges were taken off and they didn't seem to care to make it right. We were in town for a family trip to the Charleston area and all had one thing on our minds... New York style pizza. After some searching, we found Woodhaven Pizza and let me just say, it was everything we were hoping for and more. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was just right. Swanky decor, good music, friendly faces, and that unmistakable smell of fresh pizza coming out of the oven. We felt like we stepped into a hidden gem straight out of Brooklyn. We ordered a few pies and every one of them hit the mark. That foldable, thin crust with just the right amount of chew. A sauce that's not too sweet. Cheese that pulls like a commercial. The classics done right. But let's talk about dessert. We meant to take pictures of the New York cheesecake that's literally flown in from NYC. We also meant to capture the bomba and the cannolis. But the second they hit the table, they disappeared faster than you could say "fuggedaboutit." So no photos... but trust us, worth every bite. Shoutout to our amazing waitress from Syracuse who made us feel completely at home. She was warm, funny, and totally on point with the menu recommendations. The owner came by to chat and was just as friendly -- it felt like eating with extended family. And the best part? My mom had just gotten out of the hospital and this was her first real meal after a week of flavorless hospital food. She couldn't stop smiling the entire time and kept saying how much better she felt just being there with good food and good company. I walked into Woodhaven Pizza in Charleston with my usual skepticism. Any place outside of New York claiming to be "NY-themed" tends to miss the mark, usually by a mile. But I'll give credit where it's due, for South Carolina this spot actually puts out some genuinely solid pizza. I grabbed the Margherita lunch special and it surprised me in the best way. Fresh mozzarella, bright sauce, basil that actually tastes like basil and a crust with some real character. It didn't pretend to be a Brooklyn slice; it just focused on being good and it pulled it off. The staff made the experience even better. Warm, friendly and quick to make you feel like you've been coming in for years. Good food with good people around it, that combo always wins. Amazing ambiance and food. We ordered a Caesar salad, pizza, and ziti. Most of the servers were attentive apart from ours. Jayden was not a good server and had horrible service. The best interaction was when she gave us the bill so we could leave. She was too busy flirting with the man at the bar than to serve our table. This is the best NY style pizza I have had in SC! The crust is soooo thin! I have been here four times in the last two months. The Devil's Kiss pizza is my favorite. It's seems like a lifetime since this born and bred New Yorker had 'real' NY pizza; however, the smell and taste are things you never forget. While Woodhaven utilizes wood-fire to prepare their pies, the look and taste, though not quite authentic, was completely satisfying ... and yes, it was delicious. First, there's plenty of parking which is always a good thing. Though there's lots of umbrella seating on the patio, we opted to dine inside where the temp was cool, yet comfortable. We were greeted, seated and approached, quickly, by our delightful server Sam. I loved the vibe of the decor ... very Queens, urban, and later, reminiscent of casual dining downstairs at Union Station in DC. The music did not inhibit conversation. Hub started with a Peroni Italian lager. ($8.00) My beverage choice was The Big Apple ($14.00), one of six Signature Cocktails, prepared with reposada tequila, apple cider, lime juice and agave. Cool and delicious, it was served on the rocks in an old-fashioned glass. We passed on apps knowing dessert was down the road. Hub loved his Italian Meat Pie, amply topped with pepperoni cups, salami, capicola, soppressata, tomato sauce and lots of gooey mozzarella cheese. While $23.80 might seem pricey for a 12" pie, the reality is it's the going rate and it was delicious. (Sure, I had a 'small' piece ... lol.) I ordered the 'regular' sized Chopped Italian Salad ($12.35). It was served in a bowl and was huge ... a great choice if you love a 'dinner salad.' No complaints with the chopped combo of romaine, arugula, radicchio tossed with cherry tomato, cucumber, chickpeas, banana peppers, a variety of olives, Genoa salami and shredded mozzarella. The lemon vinaigrette was fresh, light and yummy. This menu item will def be added to my rotation of salads to go as it's a perfect size for 2 side salads. While we usually pass on dessert, neither could say no to the NY Carnegie Cheesecake. Though perhaps a bit pricey at $14.25, the slice was large, dreamy and creamy and for me, reminiscent of wonderful times at that Deli with my grandmother. Well, I thought I was making my dough at home correctly--that is, until I was schooled on how I should be making it. WOW. I only needed to put my hands in the dough (it was so soft and unlike any other dough I've ever worked with) to know this method would crush mine in a contest any day. The flour is different--no "00." They proof using cold water and cold-ferment every dough ball for two days before they even think about using it. Their protocol works. In fact, it's genius. Listening to the owner, Craig, discuss his brand loyalty to the imported tomatoes for their sauce and the only cheeses they will use, I couldn't help but appreciate the sheer dedication to quality. Their prices reflect the time and effort they put into making the dough, a three-day process from start to finish. The flavor? Well, I had no complaints, and it is the first pizzeria in the Lowcountry that truly can claim to be a Queens, New York pizza--not a Queens-style pizza, but instead a Queens pizza. As a former New York/New Jersey resident, I can confidently say that this pizzeria lives up to the high standards of a true New York pizza. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic pizza experience. A couple of things that jumped out to me - only a few venues will list eggplant as a topping for their pies. Woodhaven does. This is a very typical topping to find not only listed but pre-made and for sale by the slice in Midtown neighborhoods like Hell's Kitchen and around Times Square. Queens and Brooklyn, for absolutely certain. And Woodhaven was serving up paper-thin, buttery-tasting lightly coated slices of eggplant that were out of this world. The other thing that stood out was that the topping ingredients weren't crumbles or dehydrated facsimiles of real ingredients. They were the REAL DEAL. Sausage pizza - you were getting sliced sausage from a link, not crumbles. Meatball - you were getting their homemade meatballs in marinara, sliced, then added atop the pie - no ground beef crumbles. Mushrooms - not dehydrated. You were getting sliced mushrooms. The examples go on and on. I'm just so impressed...GO! Go now! read more

This was our first time ordering from Woodhaven and we were not disappointed. I placed a takeout order for their white pie veggie pizza, wife loved it, and the gluten free pepperoni and hot honey. Pizza was delicious, by far the best pizza we have had since moving to South Carolina. It's roughly authentic New York style, sauce is great, gluten free could have been a bit crispier but still really good. They were SO accommodating and made us feel so welcome (which isn't always the case with a bunch of loud, sweaty boys!). This is the second time we tried Woodhaven Pizza. The first time we did take out so we decided to dine in. There is ample parking which is nice. We sat at the bar and the bartender was on point. She was super attentive to all and quick when making drinks which were delicious. We ordered our pizza which took 45 minutes to come out. Toppings were incorrect and splotching meaning some areas had tons of toppings, others only cheese. First but we realized the middle wasn't fully cooked and a little soggy. The crust was good and we managed to take 2 pieces to go of a large. Three drinks and one large pizza cost $75. A bit steep for the quality. read more

Not really autism and wheelchair friendly. My main complaint is the noise. The food is the best-probably my favorite pizza I've ever had. The employees are nice and it's a lovely environment but the noise is very loud and a bit obnoxious. Every time I go there is music playing at full volume, and me being autistic, it was a sensory nightmare. If you go and don't like noises please bring headphones. The pizza is worth the loud noises, but still annoying. And wheelchair accessibly wise, it's okay. The doors are INSANELY heavy, making it nearly impossible to open. The bathroom I wouldn't say is completely wheelchair accessible, as it's a bit small and heavy doors once again. Everything else is very accessible, but definitely not accessible to all if not most wheelchair users. read more

Tastebuds' = my rating 4.3 + husbands rating 0 (did not participate) = 4.3!! This place did not disappoint. Pizza was incredible. I got a Sicilian square tomato pie. Crust was delicious and sauce was yummy as well. Definitely would taste better if you ate it in-house while it was straight out the oven. We ordered a 12" cheese pizza, 16" pizza with onions, mushrooms and meatballs, and 6 buffalo wings for takeout. Really tasty pizza and the wings were decent too. The cheese pizza passed the undercarriage test. You could pick it up and fold it no problem or just eat it flat and it held. The pizza with toppings was super floppy. Couldn't lift a piece out of the box without part of it falling off. The pizza was yummy but the bottom was so thin it was hard to eat even trying to fold it. I don't normally fold my pizza to eat it and of course it didn't stop me from shoveling multiple pieces in my mouth. The wings were meaty and cooked well. Not a ton of flavor but decent. Yeah this place is good. We ordered like 8 pies as a big group staying in nearby Wild Dunes. It's a thinner pie with good undercarriage and cheese that doesn't fall off the pizza. When getting random takeout for a large gathering you don't expect much. This took me aback a little. Just a really solid pie. read more
