There is a NEW Incredible Hong Kong Style Cuisine Restaurant, "WONTON CAFE", near Chinatown and South Station area on 112 South Street, Boston. I Was recommended to try this spot by a true culinary Asian Expert! I took her advice and found myself following the Pied Piper to this Brand New Restaurant which Opened this Summer of 2026. Walking up the Stairs to enter a world of Hong Kong Designed Restaurant! We chose to be seated on the small upper level by the open window! The place is truly beautiful with so much to see and absorb in the Authentic Restaurant! Also every table had customers. I was impressed and excited to order but I had my expert companion choose my lunch. Let me preface that I eat EVERYTHING! If I'm doing culinary reviews then I should be open to all food choices! Well, our dishes arrived and my first observation was it was visually pleasing and I could not wait to dive in my Noodle Soup! Both Noodle Soups and our Scallion Pancakes which was a nice addition to our lunch! The broths for both were full of flavor that I finished mine but also my lunch companions broth! I highly suggest to experience this visually and culinary world at Wonton Cafe for yourself!! The Staff including our waitress CARMEN, could not be anymore helpful and attentive! Plus DAVID GARY, an important Staff member who came up to see if our experience was perfect! Super gracious. He proudly explained the symbolism's of Hong Kong art work and signs and lights that adorned every inch of this Busy restaurant! THANK YOU! I could not absorb enough of all that surrounded me including an authentic Wishing Tree besides us! I have to say that the Executive Chef who made all those delicious meals has 60 years of experience SAM FAN! What more can I say that we entered in a world of delicious culinary traditions at WONTON CAFE ! GO AND SEE FOR YOURSELF and Tell them I sent you ! Your taste buds will THANK YOU! NOTE!! A trip down memory lane I'm originally from Hong Kong, so I appreciate the care that the owners took to create a Hong Kong nostalgia ambiance for the restaurant. Honest opinion, the wontons and dumplings are fantastic. I mean the wontons have to be right? It's in the name of the restaurant. The shrimp in both were abundant, plump, and had a great snap. We had both the fried and regular versions. Both were to die for. I will remember this meal and dream of returning. The beef brisket is usually a do or die for me. If it's too tough to chew then I'll never return. The brisket was so tender and flavorful that I imagine my parents would be able to eat it. Milk tea was on point. Came in the old school Hong Kong black and white cup. Finally, and I'm not down playing this. The kids fought over the fried fish skin. It was so good. The service of the staff was amazing. They kept coming by to fill our water and check on us. We wanted to add to the wishing tree and the waitress helped us get the cards, ties, and offered to hang them up for us. Amazing. Thank you for bringing this to Boston. Please open one in Quincy!
Such authentic wonton noodles! As a Cantonese, I'm so satisfied! Wonton Noodle Soup: About 90% similar to what I've had in Canton / Hong Kong. Although it's a standard local production, it's incredibly rare to find this in Boston!! The freshly made wontons deserve special praise; the skin is thin, soft, and chewy all at once, unlike many Cantonese restaurants in the US where the pastry preparation is atrocious. Each wonton contains several shrimp, and although they were definitely frozen shrimp, the texture was crisp and bouncy. The filling was too salty and savory, almost like it had dried flounder powder added--it felt a bit unnatural. A lighter flavor would have made it more authentic. Curry Fish Balls: Also a standard Hong Kong-style cafe dish. The fish balls were delicate and had a good elasticity. Fried Fish Skin: Just average. The seasoning of the fish skin was unremarkable and not very flavorful. Hong Kong style Milk Tea: Very authentic, the tea flavor is strong but not too bitter, but drinking one cup will keep you awake all night...
Located a few blocks away from main Chinatown but near South Station is Wonton Cafe. Their wonton cafe has really cute Hong Kong decor all around the restaurant. On a weekend this place is pretty packed since it's not that big but we went on a weekday for dinner and it was no wait. Started off with the curry fishballs, good size but the curry flavor wasn't mixed in with the fishballs. The chicken wings were my favorite, super large and crispy and salty, in the best way. The wontons in the noodle soup was ok overall. Service was good!
Wonton Cafe is a new HK-style restaurant near Boston's Chinatown that serves delicious wonton noodle soups! It's walking distance from South Station & the Chinatown Gate. Lots of parking available on this street (meter parking Mon-Sat 8am-8pm). We decided to come here for dinner ~7pm, one hour before closing. Didn't have trouble getting a table for 2. We ordered the following dishes to try: - N1. Wonton Noodle Soup (6 wontons) - N6. Wonton (4) & Beef Stew Noodle Soup - A4. Curry Fish Balls (6) Super quick service! Dishes are on the pricey side but I thought the noodle soups were worth it. Curry fish balls came first. As always, for me, I wish that they were hotter. I know that curry fish balls are typically made ahead of time but because of that, I honestly don't order them often. The wonton noodle soups came with big wontons and I found them to be quite filling! I thought the noodle soups were the perfect portion size honestly. Beef was tender & flavorful. Soup was a nice base; HIGHLY RECOMMEND adding some of their satay chili oil sauce. Not that spicy and enhanced the soup flavor. Overall, I would come back again! The restaurant was clean, service was quick + friendly, and food was good.
Clean spot, felt like you over there on the city streets of HK. Staff were quick and efficient, our dishes came out pretty quick with our order of the following: - wonton noodle soup: includes 6 well filled wontons, a rich broth that didn't make you feel heavy, and noodles were fresh tasting. - wonton and beef noodle soup: includes 4 wontons and beef cuts. The beef was tender and the lady enjoyed cooking his! Add Satay chili oil (available on your table of condiments) as the lady suggested, it's not overly spicy, more for aromatic and a bump up in flavor. The curry fishballs are what you'd expect, curry on outside, re-dip them with each bite (if you don't inhale it all at once of course). Our portion didn't come out very hot though, so that was a negative off the bat for this dish. In general though I'd probably try a different appetizer next time.
Stumbled across this place and decided to try it out. Greeted by a clean restaurant and nice decorations. Ordered beef wonton soup, it was AMAZING. The beef tendon was absolutely perfect, its hard to find places that take the time to cook tendon properly. The portion size was just right, noodles were great, the soup itself was flavorful, and the vegetables were cooked just right. Ordered the iced lemon tea and it was just right- it had fresh lemons and was not too sweet. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area!
They do have the world cup on their TV right now, otherwise the music and decor are all Hong Kong. Most importantly, the food is good. I like their wonton noodles and their beef stew. This is right near South Station, with tables for two and four. Great for a quick bite, and even better for those nostalgic for Hong Kong.
Too hungry that I forgot to take picture. The owner is the original owner of Saigon Corner that opened in Quincy and Malden. The wonton is the best in Chinatown area. We ordered the wonton noodle soup, wonton and beef stew noodle soup, and HK style milk tea. The portion of the noodle soup is a little smaller than other places. Definitely will come again or order take out since I worked close by.
This place is legit! Thanks for Yelp recommendation. Wonton was great and noodle also had good chewy texture. We were happy to had late night dinner at this place. The neighborhood can be dicey but if you are in a group that should be no problem..
I love that the great Boston area has more Hong Kong cafe options. I went here on the weekend and it's very cute inside. The service was fast and the staff was friendly. I got a couple noodle soup dishes and my favorite was the wonton noodle soup and the beef stew. The wontons were fresh and the beef stew meat was very tender. The noodles had a great texture as well. One surprising thing was the drinks. I loved checking Kong milk tea. It was strong and very flavorful!
Definitely wanting to come back here soon. This really satisfied my craving for wonton noodle soup and reminded me of one spot that I'm fond of in Hong Kong with how the noodles were and the broth. The wontons themselves leaned a bit salty for my taste, but I still liked the flavor. I also appreciated that they provide a count of wontons on the menu, so you have an idea of what you're getting. Enjoyed the ice milk tea here as well. I liked the Hong Kong theme of the interior too!
Visited this recently opened Wonton cafe this afternoon with family. Parking was surprisingly alright considered it was near Chinatown but we are able to find a parking spot pretty quick. Atmosphere is cleaned and relaxing. We like the renovation of the cafe as there are a lot of Hong Kong inspired decorations. Staffs are friendly and attentive that makes us feel welcoming. We had beef stew and wonton noodle. The wonton is so good and beef stew is nice and tender. Portion is decent and they even have options available for my vegetarian parents which is a huge plus! Recommended Yuen yeung, which is a half coffee half tea drink. It's not easy for this drink to taste good usually but they are killing it! All the food and drinks are really good and authentic, so glad I can enjoy food that tastes just like home! We will definitely come back!
We were drawn to this restaurant due to reviews about the authenticity of the food to Hong Kong and I was first blown away by the ambiance inside-- it truly is such a different atmosphere. It's a fairly tight restaurant with the tables close to each other but they do have a decent number of tables and seating. At each table there is chili, red vinegar, and soy sauce as well as sauce holders and small bowls. The wontons for the noodles are so big and you can really see the shrimp pieces inside! The bite and texture feels hearty. On the menu they also provide the ability to swap out the noodles to other types (ramen/egg noodle etc) but I stuck with the default noodle as pictured. The scallion pancake was lacking in the scallions but if you like the crispy wonton skins from fried wontons or crab rangoons, they definitely live up to that. Next time I want to try their beef and wonton and maybe their fried chicken! The staff was very friend and they also speak mandarin and Cantonese as well as English. read more
I've been craving wontons, so I was excited to try this new place! Having grown up in Toronto, I'm a bit of a wonton snob. They need to be big and packed with shrimp, and this place delivers! We ordered: - Wonton noodle soup - Curry fish balls - Beef stew noodle soup - Wonton and beef stew noodle soup - ice milk tea Everything was delicious! The wontons were exactly what I was looking for, and the curry fish balls had that perfect bouncy texture. The beef stew was excellent too, especially for those who aren't there just for the wontons. My new favorite go to spot when I'm looking for food downtown and am craving noodle soup or I just don't know what to eat. I love a classic hong kong style wonton or dumpling noodle soup and wonton cafe does a great job satisfying that craving. The soup is spot on for flavor, the shrimp is fresh and you can swap to rice noodles, vermicelli or egg noodles for no extra charge. Prices are average for this kind of food in the area ($14-16) and you get what you expect, which is a good thing! It's comparable to the wonton and dumpling noodle soups I've had in new york and Canada so that's enough of a reason to try this spot. Not too crowded with quick service on weekdays for lunch which is my usual time for a visit. read more

I like the decor of the restaurant...it gives me the Hong Kong feel to it with some HK street names and wallpaper of its place but this is not the first restaurant we been to with similar concept (BaYao in Quincy or Sing Choi Kee in Malden also has these decor). We ordered the wonton noodles soup, the fish balls noodle soup, the wonton lo mein, the fried wonton(appetizer), the HK style milk tea and the ying yang(coffee+tea) and so far, everything tastes good. We waited maybe like 15 minutes for our table around the early afternoon(after 2p), which is not bad for the weekend. Place is small so group of 2 or 4 might be able to get a table faster. We will come back to try other things. read more

Superb service and delectable Hong Kong styled dishes. Got beef and wonton noodles soup. The soup was clean and umami. The beef and tendons were stewed to perfection. Melts in your mouth. The wonton was bursting with flavor from the enormous shrimps and pork. Pairs well with their in-house chili oil. Just eat them like chili crisps. Iced lemon tea is lightly sweetened with honey. The fragrant black tea balances with the sourness of the lemon perfectly. Love to go again and explore more of the menu! read more
