She seems as if she cares about the patient and wants the best for the office. The whole office also does a great job., from the reception secretary all the way to the checkout counter. I only came here as I am a Referral from the Department of Veterans Affairs. I was sent here for annual eye exam instead of the Bakersfield Va Clinic I initially met the reception secretary who was very professional, on the callback I met Yasmine she had the perfect demeanor and i appreciated all the follow up questions to ensure I have the absolute best care aftermath eyes were dilated, I was called back after 10 minutes to see the doctor, the doctor I only remember Huggins was her last name she was very kind and thorough, i am not saying the VA clinic doesn't have professionals or arenot very kind I'm saying is something I'm not used to in a doctor's office. Hopefully the VA will get my referral and will keep sending me to this location every year. Overall 5 out of 5 stars ,I hope to be back.

After my evaluation, I was informed that I was not a LASIK candidate but qualified for a different, more invasive surgery that I did not want. The staff was very friendly during the consultation process, but communication changed once I declined the alternative procedure and requested my refund. I left several messages and was promised a callback, but never received one.

The drops always made her vision feel worse, and when my mom tried to tell him, he would get mad at her. At every visit, he would say her eye pressure was "very high" and repeatedly pushed surgery. When my mom said she wanted a second opinion, it REALLY pissed him off. Her drops were switched almost every visit, with no clear explanation and no improvement. Eventually we sought care elsewhere (ACE Eye Care). Over multiple visits, her eye pressure has been normal every time, and her new doctor performed far more thorough testing. Based on those exams, she was told she does not have glaucoma. The office environment was also extremely concerning. The office was dirty, dust throughout, restrooms that looked neglected, and exam rooms that did not feel clean. We personally did not see any equipment being disinfected between patients. While many reviews complain about the receptionist, he was actually polite. It seemed like the problem was understaffing, he looked overwhelmed since he was responsible for nearly everything in the office. Overall, this practice felt rushed and volume-focused rather than patient-focused. Its literally a MILL. We felt unheard, pressured, and uncomfortable. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this office to go somewhere else.

My freckle has been stable until this visit, when it changed shapes, size, and now had fluid. When he told me that I knew right then I had cancer. He didn't have to tell me, but what he did say was, "we need to get you to Dr. Tara McCannel at UCLA." She is well renowned ocular surgeon and works with patients that have this rare cancer. Sis in one million are diagnosed. It's aggressive, and it likes to metastasize to the liver. Within the week, I was at UCLA having ultrasounds and scans confirming what I already knew. I wasn't sure I was going to share this information, and then one of my kids mentioned that it could help somebody else. Your regular eyeglass doctor will not see if you have a freckle behind your eye. It is a retina doctor that can see it and monitor it. Usually, by the time it's found, it's too big to possibly even save your eyesight or it has metastasize. So, people get your eyes checked don't let it go. Life gets busy, and we like to put things off thank God this was being watched. If you need a retina doctor, I highly recommend Dr. Gupta. *** after healing from a week of plaque radiation surgery something felt off. I returned to Dr. Gupta and he found that my retina had detached. Within a day I was having surgery again at UCLA. Thank you Dr. Gupta for taking great care of me. 4/29/26 4/29/26

The ones I had been living with for years caused me discomfort and good vision wasn't a daily occurrence. The problem was mainly due to my high astigmatism. My previous OD couldn't help me and didn't really seem to try. Dr. Miller tried several different lenses with me until we found a good fit. Contacts had never felt so comfortable and my eyes weren't nearly as irritated as they had been before. Because they fit better I could also see much better. He made it clear to me that contacts weren't the best option for me due to my high astigmatism but that didn't stop him from doing everything he could to make it work. We also discussed other options like LASIK and other refractive surgery. I was always very interested in this and he answered all my questions, gave me every option available and left me with pricing. At the time the only option for me was a contact lens implant. The cost of this was very high and not an option I felt comfortable with. A few years later he mentioned the technology has improved since our last discussion and I was now a candidate for PRK (a type of refractive eye surgery). He gave me the pricing, answered my long list of questions, gave me realistic expectations and three weeks later I had the surgery. I couldn't be happier now! I see better than I ever have. Dr. Miller is a great OD. He seems to genuinely care about his patients and spends all the time needed with you to get the best results. In the four years I've been his patient I have went from having almost blind and miserable feeling eyes to seeing and feeling better than I ever have before.

The offices are conveniently located right on China Grade Loop. What I like about this location, which he shares with North Bakersfield Dental group, is that you can park out in front on the street and just walk right in the front door and you're there. With doctors that have offices in the major medical complexes there is always the hassle of parking, walking down long hallways and taking the stairs or elevators to get where you're going. This is so much more convenient. They share not just the building, but the waiting room with a dentist's office. There is plenty of seating, a flat screen television, and sports memorabilia to entertain yourself with while you wait. There is even free wifi (they have the password posted inside) so you can surf the internet while you wait - and a fountain in the waiting room. My boyfriend has always been happy with his medical care here. On this particular visit, we were here so that he could get the side pieces of his eyeglasses readjusted. They ushered him into the back and had him back out front in under 5 minutes. Best of all, they didn't charge him for the service. It's getting to be about time for me to get my eyes checked again and get a new prescription, and once I confirm that they take my insurance I'll be heading back here myself.

However, Dr. Miller knew I was always interested and when the technology got good enough to make me a candidate I jumped at it. It was pretty expensive but I didn't care. I've had such bad vision my entire life and I hated contacts and glasses. The surgery plus all post treatment was $4800 (after 15% covered by my insurance). Dr. Stainer does all the eye surgery and I felt in very good hands. They answered all my questions and were honest about the expected results. They said I may never have 20/20 vision with my eyes and I wasn't a candidate for a second procedure. So this was my one and only shot. Well now I see 20/15 (better than 20/20) and my eyes are still healing and I should see the final results within 6-12 months so it could get better. My only complaint about both of their offices is the very long wait times. I've waited over an hour once for a 10 minute post-op visit. Expect your appointment to run 30-45 minutes late on average unless you book early in the morning. However the time you spend in the waiting room is worth the dedicated care you receive. I would recommend Dr. Stainer for laser eye surgery any day.
