Wonder Tree Cafe was a sight for sore eyes. Located inside the London Heathrow International Terminal 2 was the most delicious cafe serving up some tasty pancakes and tropical drinks. Best airport breakfast I've had in a while. Breakfast at Wondertree has become a tradition when flying out of T2. I've had the shakshouka and the huevos rancheros and can definitely recommend both. Fresh flavors with a homemade feel - beats the pants off the typical Wetherspoons full English that often is the only choice at an airport. Good selection of Teapigs loose leaf teas. Service is friendly but can be slow - be prepared to order right when you sit down and get the check with the food if you are at all pressed for time. I had to go into Mode last time to get the bill. Servers are very nice but perhaps do not always realize they are in an airport and their customers need to get to the gate. Still, delicious pre-flight meal, especially when you are about to hop a transatlantic in coach on an American carrier (ahem United) that isn't known for edible in-flight meals. read more

Wondertree (South terminal) in my opinion only gets three stars from me as I felt the service was slack, the food came on cold plates, the food itself was not even luke warm more cold than anything else, even my husbands coffee was cold not hot at all, and the crossaint which I asked to be warmed up was not warmed up at all. The only thing that makes this place a bit of a gem is where it is situated as you can see the planes land and take off. Also the décor is nice with its browns and two trees that are lit up. If the service and food came out hot then I would of definitely gave this place more stars. read more

For airport food, at least 4 stars. Fresh food, good service. Go here before long fights and crappy airline starchy bulk. And if you want a great salad easily come here. Only small issue would be cooking food to well done. While I understand the corporate policy is also a safety issue, there is a proper window of well done and still moist. My burger was just over. One of the first places to eat when you enter Heathrow T2, which is probably why it gets so many people. It looks really nice from the outside, all done up with fake light-up tree leaves and an outdoorsy hut feel. Unfortunately, it was just... rubbish. The cutlery was old, with the silver tarnish flaking off, and it wasn't clean either. The portion size was small. I had the smoked salmon with cream cheese, caper salad and a bagel. There was barely enough smoked salmon to cover the bagel, and the salad was this spoon sized lump on the side. The wait staff were unorganised, and it looked like they didn't know who was meant to be covering what tables, they didn't look out for people who were trying to flag them down, and they don't have any coherent method of splitting a bill. read more

They lost a star because the food was a bit late and caused a little stress given our flight time. This place seems to be almost alone in T2 for breakfast options. I had smoked salmon and scarmbled eggs on toast. It was perfectly fine, though the toast was a little soggy. The others had cooked breakfasts and all thought them also fine. Not much to say really-it's perfectly ok for breakfast and maybe later, though do get them to keep to the time estimate so you can avoid any timing stress. read more

I used to like this place when I'd fly through Heathrow but was very disappointed at my last visit. PROS: staff were nice and courteous (although they did give away my table after I told the waitress I had to use the restroom. Came back after 2 mins with no table) Nice dining area for solo travelers. CONS: English breakfast was not delicious. The sausages were over-fried and a bit tough. They pretty much stuffed everything in ONE small plate so there were barely any room for anything and my plate did not look pretty. Soda was too expensive. I asked for a refill and it totaled about £7 for probably one can of coke. My total came to about £20 and I was not even full. The person next to me ordered pad Thai and it looked anemic because it was so pale. If you're craving for breakfast, I'd skip this place and instead try for EAT or LEON downstairs since they both pretty much have the same quality but cheaper prices. read more

"Healthy" here is apparently code for "flavorless." The mixed berry smoothie literally tasted like nothing, and seemed to be made with a few berries thrown in at most. The Cobb salad came out with wilted, slimy, past-its-use-by-date greens. When I asked for fresher lettuce, I was told that was all they had. My fellow diners said their Chinese chicken salad and penne pomodoro were bland. Airport food is usually mediocre, but there must be better options than this at Heathrow. I had just a bit over an hour before my boarding time so I came here per recommendation of a Heathrow staff member after telling him I wanted a solid salad. I ended up going for the Green Quinoa Salad, which was indeed just that - solid. I liked the combination of flavors from the pomegranate seeds, green quinoa, avocado, and greens and especially loved the combination of textures. The seeds added a nice crunch to the softness of the avocado and the lighter bites of greens. My only complaint is for the kale, which was sadly quite tough and slightly challenging to chew. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed my salad and thought the service was incredible as well - friendly and fast. I highly recommend this place if you're looking to have a healthy bite that's a bit more indulgent than fast food! Be prepared to pay a slightly higher price, though. I paid around 14 pounds for the salad and a pot of green tea (which was wonderful as well). read more

My wife wanted a "Full English" the morning of our departure, so we stopped in at Heathrow at Wonder Tree. I was thinking a muffin plus scrambled eggs. The menu lists "Sweet Muffins" so after we were seated I asked what muffins were available. The server said that we could not order just muffins. I said I wanted to find out what muffins were available before I made up my mind what to order (e.g., I might order toast instead).
