This restaurant is attached to the St. Giles London Hotel. It touts 24 x 7 hours and breakfast all day. I popped in for a quick bite. After being seated, it took a long time before someone came by to ask for my order. I had a Tropical Daiquiri, Club Sandwich, and Sparkling Water. Being an American, and from New Jersey at that, I love my diners! And this London diner did not disappoint! The entrance reminded me of a night club, which was interesting. I'm not sure why they had this red velvet rope and someone who appeared to be a bouncer, but hey! It adds an extra level of security that you don't normally get at an eating establishment. The main difference from an American diner was the portion sizes were smaller. I ordered a waffle, and it came with fresh berries and chocolate ice cream. My friends got a breakfast wrap and pasta. The Belgium waffle one is used to is quite different as far as the portion of it; the flavor is amazing. Wow, a decent place that opens 24/7 in Central London, where you can just go in for a cuppa. Between 8am and 6pm you can have a free refill of your tea or coffee. The set menu from midday to midnight looks good value, like £11.95 for two course and £14.95 for three. And there is an afternoon tea for £4.50. If you sign up for their newsletter, you get a free dessert. They also have a bar and is fully licensed all day until 2am, and they have free wifi. The service is friendly and helpful. They greet everyone with a great welcome and smile. I won a two course meal, so hopefully the portion size is the same as if I am a paid customer, as it is quite generous. All tastes good and fresh, and nicely presented. Although the grilled salmon I had was slightly overdone for my liking, but others may find it just fine. It is served with some delicious and perfectly sauteed new potatoes and a very generous portion of lovely spinach. Often vegetables are a small side dish, so very impressed with this. My other half, chose the lamb served with vegetable couscous, harissa and tzatziki and it was very good. The lamb is very tasty and tender. However, the desserts are worthy of a recommendation. I love apple pie and crumble and it was piping hot and especially the custard as often this can be either lukewarm or cold. The apple is a bit sour for my liking but again, some people may like this. My other half had the warm chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. Another good choice! Although I wanted the same choice of menu, I ordered differently so I could try something else as well, rather than both having the same dishes But it is one place where I will definitely go back! First off on a positive note, the interior is very nice and pretty big and serves breakfast ALL DAY. When we got here, we were a party of 6. The service was just poor from the getgo. The waitress were confused, mixed up orders, brought the wrong drinks! The food took a while to be brought out. WOULD NOT recommend the chicken & waffle - the waffle is definitely a frozen one they throw into the oven/microwave. Chicken was better maybe 4* WOULD NOT recommend The sweet chilli prawn pasta- it was tomato sauce! Maybe just get the full english and call it a day! read more

Often I think the staff forget you are there. I think this complacency is encouraged by 12.5% service charge automatically added to the bill. No need to try if they already pay you! Food... Its really actually slightly above par. A a weird selection. I've had one of the salads a soup and fries. They all came fresh from kitchen and tasted like gastropub food. My new co-workers introduced me to this place, not far from the office. It is a 24-hour diner with a menu that is a bit of a hodge podge of dishes. You can get breakfast any time of day... which is a major pro in my book. The feel of the place is... just a bit strange, it doesn't remind me of any diner I've ever been to. I struggled between whether to get breakfast or try something else. In the end, I ordered the Club Sandwich. I didn't realise that the sandwich doesn't come with any sides... like french fries. Although when it came out, it was quite large so I'm glad that it didn't come with sides. Its a pretty good club sandwich... instead of the regular mayo, they served it with a mustard mayo. We did have a mezze plate to start with and their falafels are quite nice too. One of my colleagues ordered the pancakes and I know if I go back, I'm going to have to try them. they come with fruit and bacon, although it looked like more syrup was needed. The reason I marked the place down is because of the service. Everyone is really friendly, but the service was really slow... and when they forgot to bring us drinks, it took ages to try and flag someone down. Decent food and good portions for the prices (although burgers should come with sides such as salad or chips, they shouldn't be extra!) I got the butternut squash and feta cheese salad last night sans cucumber and dressing on the side. Good mix of ingredients and the squash was perfectly sautéed so it was very flavourful. My husband and I also got the sweet potato fries which looked amazing but honestly tasted pretty bland. Still, the menu is pretty broad, so VQ is good in a fix but I wouldn't make a special trip out for it. Our Italian waiter though was efficient and friendly so that was a plus. read more

I cajoled a few colleagues to VQ for lunch. Initially they were bullish, even ebullient, and all was well with the experience until the bill arrived. Burgers are served without chips, and with a beer and service they ended up paying around £15. Some griping from said colleagues, but didn't seem excessive to me. That's the beauty of a pub lunch, as service charge does not normally apply. I ordered the veggie breakfast which I found very enjoyable. It's served with spinach and hash browns and wasn't greasy at all. All in all quality fayre, as you would hope for £12.95. Inside VQ is pleasantly modern and comfortable. Worth knowing that prices increase by a pound or two after 11pm. The website says there's a sneaky cover charge of £2.50 per person on Fridays and Saturdays, and £1.50 on other nights. read more

My friends and I absolutely love VQ. Firstly, we're from NYC, so we were under the assumption that there are always things to do 24/7. The culture shock was real when we got to London (we did study abroad here). When we found out there was a 24 hour cafe located nearby, it didn't matter if the cafe was dingy and old or modern and classy - we would have probably gone based on their hours alone. The plus is that VQ is by no means dingy or old. It serves decent food, good drinks, and the service has always been great. It's a reliable place to go when you're, A.) drunk and have the munchies, B.) don't wanna go home, C.) need a place to get work done, or D.) just want to relax and chat with your friends (or honestly, all of the above, as was usually my case). I ended my nights here so often, I'm pretty sure the staff were surprised when my friends and I didn't show up. I will definitely be back the moment I step foot in London again. read more

Close to the Dominion Theater where Hillsong holds services on Sundays. The food is fairly priced and quite delicious. I've never had poached eggs with hollandaise, and what better place to try it than in England? Two beautifully poached eggs atop a bed of hash browns with veg inside and topped with a heavenly rich hollandaise. It was very tasty! A friend and I were lucky enough to snag the last booth in the place and settled down with a cocktail to peruse the menu. It took us a while to order but eventually I settled on the kedgeree. Now I've never had kedgeree before but any time I've seen pictures it looked delicious; a spicy rice dish with smoked haddock and a lovely runny poached egg, what's not to like. When it arrived though it wasn't quite what I expected. It was very thick and yellow and a lot creamier than I was anticipating. Pictures I've seen before have always looked like it was quite a dry dish but this was very smooth and about half way through the dish I did start to feel a little sick. It was one of those times I really wish they had pictures of each dish on the menu as I would have ordered something else had I known. It wasn't all bad though as it meant there was still room for dessert and what a dessert it was! The VQ knickerbocker glory: Vanilla and chocolate ice-cream, honeycomb, smarties and chocolate sauce, this badboy was a chocolate lovers dream, even the waiter was jealous of us and more than made up for the disappointing main. Prices at VQ are incredibly reasonable with a 2-course meal plus two drinks per person coming to just £29 each! We were there for a couple of hours and didn't feel rushed at all which is always nice. I walk up to him to order 2 beers, then is told by a server that I'm not allowed to do that. Such an amazing Cafe/Restaurant/Bar. Very chilled, relaxed and cosy environment. Open 24 hours so no need to ever rush your meal and you can pop in any time that fits your needs. Quite close to Tottenham Court Road station about 5 minutes walk at most. Food is very delicious and affordable. I have been coming here quite regularly within the past couple weeks and is, at the moment, my favourite place to dine. Plenty of space to bring a party and the service is very fast. The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. I would recommend their Ribeye Steaks, very juicy and succulent or their salads which are surprisingly filling. I would not recommend the chicken though as it's quite dry. Perfect place for a quick coffee or to have breakfast/lunch/dinner. Also great place to sober up after a heavy night of partying rather than picking up fried chicken from some greasy corner shop. Great place all round. The redeeming quality of VQ is that it's open 24 hours and it's a reasonably clean, pleasant environment (like, in comparison to a 24 hour fried kebab shop). The food is cruelly overpriced but I guess that comes with footing the bill to operate 24/7. The service is hit or miss. At its best it's decent and at its worst it is horrifying. It once took me an hour - ONE HOUR - to get my bill after I had finished eating and my food had been taken away. I asked multiple times. They have wifi but it's not too reliable, especially if the place is busy. I would go if you are hungry and just really need to hit the spot but I would never seek this place out or recommend it to somebody visiting London. You can do so much better. read more

I ordered the steak with fries. Our waitress asked if I wanted it "medium or pink". We said medium, when we received it, I could barley cut it with my knife.
