Wolfgang's Pet Stop is such an asset to the Central West End! The staff is very friendly and always remembers me and my dog. The selection of food, toys and treats is top-notch and while it's a smaller store, they have always been helpful when placing special orders (my dog has special dietary needs) for any products that weren't in stock. They are also a humane pet shop - which I love. While they don't sell pets, they hold adoption events and keep an album of pets available from Stray Rescue. read more

Amazing family-friendly service!!! It isn't directly dog related, but my family and I were on vacation when my daughter shoved a sticker up her nose. We happened to be parked in front of Wolfgang's and asked if they might be able to point us in the right direction for a set of tweezers. I have brought my dog Louis here a few times to get his nails done. He is typically very sensitive and has even left other groomers with a few nails unclipped because they say he won't calm down enough to do them. This is not the case at Wolfgang's. Each time I've brought him there, the staff are very gentle with him and get his nails done quickly to minimize stress. They do an excellent job at getting his nails short and smooth. If you have a dog who has trouble getting nails done, I definitely recommend wolfgang's! read more

I haven't had my dog groomed here yet, but the customer service at Wolfgang's is excellent. Last weekend, they tweeted that they had a buy one get one free deal on their dog treats. We walked over to their CWE location and bought a few treats (which our dog loved). While we were there, we asked if they had a special product for dogs' feet and they gave us a card to give them a call at the end of the week to see if it was in stock. On the way home, we tweeted thanks for the treats. Wednesday morning, Wolfgang's tweeted at my wife saying they had the product in. This was two days sooner than we expected and we didn't even have to call. I stopped by that morning and he recognized me right away. I don't think Wolfgang's is any more expensive than any other store and at least for me it's close enough to walk to. Their customer service is excellent and the store dog will stop you on your way out so he can perform a trick for a treat. I will certainly update after we get our dog groomed here. read more

Prince (my Boxer) and I love Wolfgang's! I try to take him there once a week just to socialize. Prince is always super excited for me to drop him off, and he's super tired when I pick him up. The staff is great and they're even able to trim his nails (he refuses to let me do it). I had surgery a few months back and they we're willing to work with me on my pickup hours if my surgery lasted longer than expected (thankfully it didn't). I just had my miniature goldendoodle groomed at Wolfgang's pet shop and they did a fantastic job! He looks the best he's ever looked after a grooming appointment and everyone was extremely friendly. We recently moved to the area and were excited to come to Wolfgang's with our dachshund. We initially stopped by a few times with Remy to get acquainted with the facility and its people. Paul was very nice and gave him treats. The groomer made us feel comfortable as well. Paul said to have us come on a Thurs at 2:30p for a temperament test. We explained to him in detail about how Remy is a rescue from 7 months ago and that he has some anxiety/potential aggression issues and we were encouraged to bring him in for the test. We showed up on Thurs, Paul was not there. The young lady who was was very pleasant and we went upstairs. Remy was shy at first and we all decided it would be best if we (Remy's parents) stepped out and come back in 20-30 min after the test. We assumed that the ladies who were working that day knew about Remy's background as we had discussed this in detail with Paul previously and were assured that he would be with the calm dogs as he does best in such an environment. When we returned in 25 min., we found out from the lady who did the test that Remy failed because he bit a puppy's ear when the puppy was incessantly going into his face. No blood, and apparently the puppy walked away tail wagging. What that tells us is a couple of things: 1. Remy was giving the puppy a fair warning to not be in his face, which likely followed other warnings such as growling and showing teeth which he always does first. If he wanted to he could have made a lot more damage than snapping at the puppy's ear. Our dog never initiated aggression but does get defensive when cornered and has never bitten another dog before in our hands. 2. The people who were working there that day knew nothing of Remy's past and his known triggers as we had discussed at length with Paul a few days prior. If they did they would have never placed him in a tiny enclosure with a very playful puppy. If we knew that was part of the test we would have never subjected him to that. 3. The testing that occurs is not completely safe for the dogs that are already in daycare because all of the above needs to be taken into account before you subject your daycare dogs to new dogs coming in. A place where we came from in Philadelphia would "test" dogs in a public park and not subject puppies to new dogs with known triggers. I wish that Wolfgang's would have communicated better with us and with each other. The experience, specifically the testing, had him set up to fail. And if we knew that the testing includes being put in a small space with a puppy that would be in Remy's face then we would of said no thank you to begin with for Remy's sake and the poor puppy. We have worked really hard on getting our rescue's anxiety under control and this experience only exacerbated it. We all left very upset by the entire experience. Also, Paul could have followed up and communicated with us after the results on Thurs. Hopefully this review helps the establishment improve and gives dog owners a bit more insight into the testing process. read more

Wolfgang's has been very good to Hunter, in particular Steve. Steve is his groomer and takes excellent care of him as he is a great old (15) Westie. I followed Steve from his previous job and he has cared for Hunter since we rescued him 11 years ago. Wolfgang's communicates with reminders, follows up if there is an opening and I can get into Steve sooner...the young woman I dealt with yesterday when picking up Hunter was very nice and accommodating. Our puppy LOVES going to daycare at Wolfgang's. Initially, she was uncertain and would not walk through the door. The staff were patient, kind and eventually won her over. Now she drags me to the door and bolts up the stairs to see everybody as quickly as she can. We love that it is not overly crowded and a calm and well supervised environment, compared to other doggy daycare that can have 50+ dogs playing together and little human interaction and TLC. read more

What a fantastic place! The grooming is excellent and they provide discounts for repeat customers. They support several worthy causes related to pets which make you proud to be their customer. My dog has run away twice (note - she never ran away until she was 8 years old and we moved to the totally pet-friendly CWE where she has a better time in the streets than at home!) and both times she headed for Wolfgang's. Now that the family dog has been here three times for grooming, I can confidently say that Wolfgang's is a really great pet shop! The employees are always very friendly and fawn over Beau (he's our dog) and the groomers know what's up. Like I said, Beau has had three haircuts (including some de-shedding treatments) here and we've been very pleased. They also have a decent selection of natural and organic dog foods. I would recommend for anyone who loves their dog to take them to Wolfgang's to get groomed! They are so patient with our 85 lb dog Boss! He absolutely dreads getting his nails clipped, and we have had so many problems in the past finding someone who can trim them down. We couldn't even get him to calm down to clip them with us there! Took my dog here several times and the staff is so friendly and loving t the animals they groom. Willow has been groomed here for over 1.5 year now, and this is our favorite place among 5-6 places we've tried. We had stopped taking her to a groomer for a while before Wolfgang's because Willow got scared of groomers, but not at this place. First couple of times we brought in our shampoo since Willow has allergies, but we forgot to bring it in one time, but no itching and scratching after grooming! Kelly is wonderful! Great services for a reasonable price, also discovered that my brother's dog's raw (and rather spendy) food is the same price at Wolfgang's as it is at the big pet stores. Staff is great with all the critters, there always seems to be a handful lying around in the open, spa-day-style. "AYOOOOOO" A loud shriek can be heard from the down stairs room, followed by several notably different barking sounds. This is my dog spawning a riot with his high pitched screaming. But the people keep on trimming his nails, and every time its gotten a little calmer. I feel for them, they do something I can honestly say I don't have the courage to do myself. And they do it with love. Every time. They love to see him. I love my dog, but he wants nothing to do with a nail clipper. Plus they offer an escape for me in their kitschy store upstairs. When he is done, they bring him out. A couple times he has needed a deshedding treatment and bath, and they are also very good at that. Just be prepared, it will take a while. But the prices are amazing. Also--- they are probably the most socially conscious store you'll ever find. read more

Our 100 lb. Pyrenees/Golden mix, Mumford, looked great after his groom/de-shedding treatment. They ended up taking a solid 4 hours to get everything finished, which was fine, but did seem like a while. Can't really speak to the deshedding since we had hair cut short for the summer and I doubt we would have noticed Will likely take Mum to Wolfgang's again. read more

I've been taking my maltese/bichon frise mix to Wolfgang's for the last couple of months. I am a relatively new pet owner, so it's been a recent challenge to find a groomer that fits our needs. Fortunately, after trying out a few other groomers, we found Wolfgang's! It is a small and intimate store with excellent service. The staff member are all very friendly, and have only proven to show meticulous care to our dog. This weekend was the first time I have had to board my Olde English Bulldog, Stoli. Wolfgang's was wonderful! I dropped her off Saturday morning and she was put in a large, clean, fenced in area with other dogs. Staff members waited with her while she got acquainted with the other dogs. Everyone I talked to there was extremely friendly, and they didn't make me feel like an idiot for calling to check in on my pup. Stoli was able to sleep in a home-like setting rather than in a kennel all by herself, which would have been the case if she was not friendly with the other dogs. When I picked her up Sunday she had already been on a walk and been outside. I expected her to be dirty and gross, but she was clean and happy! Again, staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. I couldn't imagine using another boarding place if we need it in St. Louis. read more

Wolfgang's has provided grooming services to my two dogs on several occasions. They are very reasonable and the quality of the work they do is outstanding. Most importantly, they obviously care about animals. One of my dogs is very anxious when kenneled so they let him safely sit in the corner to wait for me. The shop upstairs is full of great stuff for pets. For a little boutique they have a wide variety of products and Beth, the owner, is very helpful. When my dog Cece started to go to Wolfgangs she was extremely shy and scared of people since she was a rescue from a puppy mill. I knew I had to eventually get her hair cut and bathed, and I was scared to death to take her anywhere, Wolfgangs not only made me feel conferrable, they were able to ease Cece and allow for her to enjoy her time there. While I worked a crazy schedule Cece started to go to Doggy Day Care at Wolfgangs and they helped ease many of Cece's fears from walking on crowded streets with strangers to many more aspects of Cece's life she has anxiety with.
