We hired Jennifer to work with our doodle (and me) to prepare for the arrival of a grandbaby -- we were concerned that our generally well behaved three year old dog stayed well behaved when the baby arrived. Working with Jennifer was fun, had impactful results, and had a positive impact in our pet's life! Jennifer coached me (in two remote, Zoom sessions, concluding with a third, outdoor, in-person, safely 'socially distant' session) on how to have our pup feel comfortable in the presence of a crying infant and adults focused on that infant. Jennifer helped me reinforce the strong bond with our dog based on mutual love, trust and respect . We focused time on practicing a wide range of basic to advanced cues including "Leave It", "Come" and "Loose Leash Walking". We paid attention to behavior issues including barking, jumping and pulling on the leash when passing other pets or humans. Jen was amazing with my rescue Italian Greyhound, Annie. Annie was rescued at 10 months and for the first 9 months I could not hold her. She would not come to me, or trust me. She jumped backwards at every chance. The hardest thing was, she was always looking over her shoulder..she had no peace. All I wanted to do was provide her safety and a good home (kiss and snuggles her!!). Then I found Jen. Within 3 sessions, it was like Annie was able to understand commands and we were able to communicate. It wasn't 'tricks' I needed, but commands that allowed 'us' to work together. Annie had obviously been traumatized. Jen has a way of working with a pet's energy or psyche that breaks down the barriers. Within a few sessions, Annie not only was trusting, but understood basic life skill commands: "Leave it", "Sit", "Stay", "Come." These transferred over to me...immediately. My sister and I found Jen at the perfect time! Our 10 month old dog Henry ruled the house and we were having some issues with his manners (jumping, tugging on the leash, etc.). Jen helped us see that we babied our puppy a little too long, and she helped us show him who's boss in the most loving way possible (aka hotdogs and treats). The positive reinforcement really worked because in 5 weeks Henry turned his life around. He is now a (near) perfect gentleman and received the honor of "most improved" at his graduation. My favorite part of training was teaching him how to loose leash walk -- no more tugging! Jen really cares about her clients and is much more than a trainer -- she helped us get Henry out of crate training, gave us tips on how to socialize him with other dogs and people, and even recommended a Day Care in the area. Jennifer has been an amazing trainer! When we first got our puppy, I wish we had known how much more helpful a trainer is than books or online posts. Everything was so much easier after we started working with Jennifer! She was able to walk us through training. Moreover, she was always there when we had questions about our puppy.
