Thankfully, Samarco 2 did not disappoint. Their spaghetti marinara was packed with flavour and was chock full of plump prawns and fresh mussels. The rest of the meal was equally good - especially dessert but you can't really go wrong with crème brulee. My only concern is that it's very expensive for a suburban Italian cafe - entrees and salads are around $15 -$20 and the mains range from $20- $35. For those prices, I would probably prefer to go into the city where I could get equally excellent food at a nicer venue.

We happened to be driving around Midde Park to put flyers for our business up (turns out, there are…read moreno places with billboards anymore), and noticed this new swanky shopping centre which used to be the daggy middle park shopping centre. Where on earth did this pop up from... and we live around this area. It seems a little out of place considering the surrounds and the general middle park area. Samarco 2 stood out like a sore thumb on the corner outside of the main shopping centre itself. So we thought it's hot, let's sit down in this nice looking alfresco restaurant. Don't know if it was because it was in the middle of the day, or they were a waiter short... not only were we shocked at menu prices for the location, but the place was a bit posh looking we chickened out and didn't just walk away. Big mistake. We waited to be served, I had to get up to ask if there was table service or not, then our food took forever to come out... but when it eventually did, it was very yummy. I ordered the Mexican Beef Salad (wasn't this an Italian Restaurant?) and noticed there were Szechwan Duck Spring Rolls and Nasi Goreng on there as well.... wasn't it spelt Szechuan? What are they doing putting asian food on the menu with italian pastas... oh no not again with the fusion. So the food was nice, but very expensive and they confuse me with their menu a little, mixing the original italian cuisine with a hodge podge of others I find... somehow cheapens the posh looking place... also they should spell check the menu. Try it out, but it's a little weird.

Free Texas Hold Em Poker Fridays at 6pm. $10 lunch meals. I would have to say that this little pub is not so little, not so daggy looking inside as it is from the outside and has a little bit of something something for everyone. (See the Tradie Wednesdays and Fridays... Kids eating free on Thursdays) We had the ever popular Grazier's Steak here the other day (a cut above the rest apparently) and it was really yummy! We would definetely be back. We paid top quid for our steak, I had the rump from $26.95 but you can go up to the mid 30 range for a better cut of meat. It's a decent size, and comes with salad and chips or potato and vegies... you can mix and match up if you want. My only complaint is that if you want more gravy (the mushroom is really nice) it's an extra $2. Come on, you charge premium steak prizes, you can't scoop more gravy for me from that big vat out the back? My steak actually came out well done the first time I ordered it, when I told the waitress I wanted it done medium, she didn't hesitate, took it back and brought me a perfectly done medium steak in less than 15 minutes. Good stuff. Good meat. Good atmosphere... good high chairs!

Inside decor is dated, we usually sit outside. The playground is great. Sometimes gets busy (like Friday nights) so worth booking. The bar service is usually pretty average - can never tell which bar they will serve you at. If you don't get served in a few minutes, try another bar - they won't bother telling you you're in a non-service area, just look at you silently. For a weekend steak place you can rock up to in casual gear, this is perfectly satisfactory.

Just Poppy's specialise in burgers as well as fish and chips. They have many many burgers... over 50 I would have to say at least looking at their menu. I had a burger with beetroot, bacon, lettuce, tomato, onion, a homestyle beef patty and barbeque sauce... let's just say, it came out pretty damn big. So big most of the ingredients fell out the bottom onto the paper bag it came in after my first and second bite (don't you hate that). I would be lying if I said the burger sucked because I couldn't get my act together enough to hold it together literally, but it was quite nice. It was value for money and I was definetely full after that, don't even get me started on the chips we ordered, we couldn't touch them. If I could offer any critique, it would be that the burgers could be a bit smaller (never thought i'd say that) and maybe the buns could be toasted a little more so they didn't just fall apart into the burger falling through the burger. Definetely worth a try if you're a local or in the centenary area.

My family and I have been coming here for years, possibly, through several owner changes as well…read more On this recent trip, we came here with my parents' friends for lunch on the weekend. The place was empty and I don't know why. The food is absolutely stellar and from the interaction of my parents and my parents' friends with the owner, I can tell they come here often. The Japanese style beef is tender and flavorful, as was the "sang chow guat" which is similar to sweet and sour pork but not as sweet nor as sour. It is so fresh and seasoned beautifully. The salt and pepper tofu is also delicious as is the "sang chow ngau yuk fan" which is a beef fried rice. It was a tad greasy but so tasty. The piece de resistance of the meal was the mud crab topped with rice vermecelli which has soaked up all the flavors from the crab. This was absolutely delicious and we (or shall I say, I) ate every little bit from the clay pot. There are other specials such as the pigeon which I've had years ago on previous visits, and I remember it being very good. The restaurant serves up pretty authentic Chinese food which I find is so hard to find in Brisbane when you want it done well. This place pretty much has remained consistent and is definitely a great place when you're looking for authentic fare. My dad didn't want me to write a review about it because he thought it would make it harder for him to get a table. HAHA.

So I went on a search, asked friends and put my ear to the ground. I heard there was another great chinese little place up the road, still in Centenary... I thought, yes, i'm up for the challenge. I will compare their dishes same for same, and let's see what I find out. That opponent was Good Taste. I am happy to report, it is just that. Or should I call it Great Taste? The Chow Kuey Teow (yummy fried noodle dish, trust me, it's yummy) was fried with the right heat in a wok, giving it that great smoking taste. The sweet and sour pork belly was crispy, sweet and sour and very appetising. The prices were pretty much the same as well. Well call me an asian, sit me in a hawker stall on the naked streets of Kuala Lumpur and hand me a Good Taste dish, I am there. The food is authentic, fresh, piping hot when they serve it, and they are friendly, fast and guess what... if you go there for dinner with a group larger than 4, they give you a free soup appetiser and a free desert, plus oranges. Bonus! Chinese people like their free stuff, so for chinese people to be giving free stuff away, you can only guess what happens. If you can't, it makes chinese people beyond happy! So it comes as no surprise that on Friday nights and weekends, this little Great Tasting place is packed full of big groups of people. Even the derelict shopping centre it's located in won't stop people coming in the door. Love it. Give me some more chilli. Maybe the other chinese place should put 'second best place to get chinese food in centenary'.

The service is a little bitty slow because there's usually one person taking orders and bringing them out, but for a tiny little restaurant they really don't need much more than that. They have 1 person cooking I'm sure out the back because the food does take a while to come out, especially if the place has more than 3 tables full and a line up for takeaway. The food tastes authentic Thai and Malaysian with nice yummy curry puffs for entrees as well. I have tasted better Pad Thai's out there, but for what it's worth, these guys do give it some competition. The prices are pretty good ranging from $13-$18 for a main curry meal, and the sizes are pretty average too. Not too small and not too big. Pretty good overall, you won't be disappointed here, but be prepared to wait if it's busy.

(Entertainment Book voucher was for 25% off total bill.) While the food we had was quite tasty, the service was seriously lacking and thus my rating. It was about 5:45pm, and we were one of two couples in the place. We were in a bit of a hurry, so we made up our minds quickly and had the menus down on the table. We received water, but the girl was in such a hurry to answer the phone and bring take-aways to the front, that she didn't take our order (or the other couple's) for over 20 minutes. It may have just been a matter of training, but there was no multi-tasking involved for our poor waitress. We ended up just ordering a couple of sampler entrees in the hopes that they would come quickly and beat the takeaway orders. The golden bags were delicious and so were the satay skewers, but it was a bit pricey for what we got. Our $3 Cokes were flat, like it was from a 2-litre that they opened on Monday. We may give them another try when we have more time, but service was a real turn-off.
