The guys behind the counter are always very knowledgeable about where the fish are from and are pretty honest about the way to cook them, and if they're not for you. All that aside though, what I really really super duper love about this place, is their half price cooked seafood after 4pm everyday! Woohoo! Get a huge crumbed basa fillet and some chips for $3? How can you beat that. Just wait a little and the big sign will appear on top of the counter and away you go! They also have a seafood shop in the foodcourt of Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre so they must be doing well.

This place is pretty good for a fishmongers located in a shopping centre. It is decent in size and they have quite a trendy looking fit out... For a seafood shop that is. I like it! Of course, in addition to its attractive appearance, it does stock quite the range in fish and other seafoods. I especially love their big king prawns in the front window. It gets me time and time again. I could never resist purchasing a kilo or two. You'll find plenty of fish, prawns, squid on display and some chilled products in their fridges. The staff are very helpful and really know their stuff when it comes to fish. I'm still new to cooking seafood creatively, I usually, like to just slap it on the grill and douse it in lemon juice. There is plenty of time to learn different ways of cooking seafood, but for now, I'm getting hungry just writing about it. I think, it's time for me to stop by there today and buy a few bags full of seafood. And I think, you should too! Just in time for the weekend.

I…read morecan tell you that my attachment to my local fish and chippery, Fish's in Teneriffe, might be a little unhealthy. And not just in the beer-battered kind of a way. It has gotten to a point where I turn my nose up and any other option for the combination of potatoes and barramundi. Now that's good fish and chips! Although I usually indulge in the takeaway variety, Fish's is also a restaurant and has a relaxed, family atmosphere. Along with the usual fish and chips, there are burgers, seafood platters, meals, mussels, oysters, prawns and calamari also on offer. If it comes from the ocean, chances are Fish's have it! And it's as fresh as fresh can be. If you are looking for somewhere to get excellent fresh prawns for Christmas or a BBQ, theirs come highly recommended by me! As does the cajun fish. I veered away from crumbed fish a little while ago and lashed out with the cajun (a big deal considering I'm a creature of habit) and it is awesome! For reasonable prices, Fish's offer huge portions of (in my opinion) the best fish and chips in Brisbane. The wait is never long and the food is fresh and delicious. Get to Teneriffe for a taste!

Nope. Such a disappointment, and I will go so far as to say that the only thing that is semi alright about this place is the fact that after 4pm all their food is half price. Not even a good thing. I have given this place many chances, as being pregnant twice, I seemed to have many a fish craving over the 9 months. I've had their fish battered, crumbed, grilled and I've tried the Snapper, the Cod, the fish bites (don't know what fish they are), the Basa... I still don't know. Sometimes the fishes are big, but most times the only big crumbed fish are the Basa. The cod seem to be 1/2 the size of what they used to be, the prices are almost $10 for a plate of fish and chips or salad and a drink. I still don't know. One time, I kid you not, I went there when things were 1/2 price and got myself a cup of fish bites... and I kid you not again, they tasted like window cleaner. I am not kidding. Not kidding. I've never tasted fish like that which tasted so foul that I had to spit the bite I took out and chuck the rest away. It wasn't even worth returning I was so grossed out. So that put me off the 1/2 price food deal. So not really comparable to any other place. The fish is not quite sure. The chips are not really and the prices are nuh uh.

I am a big fan of seafood, so I was quite disappointed to find their fish and chips not as tasty as others I have had. The fish was okay, the chips a bit stale and the greek salad not very fresh. The prices generally range from $9.50 to $15.50, however, the sizes of the fish were relatively small for the price. Service is okay, not rude, however not particularly friendly either. All in all, Fish On Grill is bland and not the freshest. But, if you do have a craving for fish and chips this is pretty much the only place to get it, however, don't expect it to satisfy you completely.

Every Thursday they get a huge delivery of fresh fish just in time for the weekend rush. It's very busy on weekends, so I encourage anyone who plans on visiting to go earlier rather than later. There is a bit of a language barrier here unless you speak Vietnamese. It can get a bit tiresome, because when you asked for 'snapper', they say 'salmon', it's like- "what?" It's entertaining, confusing and exhausting all at once. Just point to the fish you want and give directions, 'left', 'right', 'up' or 'down'. The service here otherwise is really good. They are nice and pretty fast. The first are present well and look really nice and fresh. The prices are reasonable, but not the cheapest to that in some seafood places in Inala. Still, a pretty decent place to get some fish.

You know, you can't go past this place when you're doing your grocery shopping in Darra. If you're…read moredoing your grocery shopping in Darra, you are a certain type of person. You recognise the stuff is cheaper than your average Coles or Woolworths or you wouldn't bother coming all the way here to get your bok choy. You also recognise that in order for the prices to be this dirt cheap (literally) you may have to deal with places that aren't as clean as your local supermarkets. And if you are this type of person per say... and you see the words 'seafood market' you definetely want to go in to get some cheap premium fish. Like Atlantic Salmon for $14.99/kg. It may also be the only place you can get a decently fresh fish head for your malaysian fish head curry or what not. Look, I'm just saying... it's just what you do. The seafood market is not the cleanest, it is pretty fresh on days the fish arrive (just ask the lady when that is) and if it's not fresh, it's still in alright condition, they keep it in ice and they will de-bone and fillet for you free of charge. This is a great little fresh fish market, you can get your crabs too and it's right next to other groceries you might want to pick up... the type you would get in your usual asian grocer. Worth a check out. But bring cash.

I've had several fish 'n' chips places around Brisbane, including The Salt & Battery in St. Lucia, as well as Fish Market in Dutton Park. So far, I think that Riverside does the best job frying up their fish 'n' chips, but Fish Market does make the plate more colorful with a mini salad on the side. Riverside does a lunch special of the cod fish with hot chips and a canned drink for $10, and it's loaded with hot chips to fill you up! I couldn't finish them... The batter for the cod had an amazing mouthfeel, as it wasn't over-fried or soggy, and the fish was definitely fresh. I didn't try any other fishes, so I can't vouch for them, but the calamari seems to be quite popular. The sauces (tartare, etc.) are an extra $1.5-2.0, but totally worth it! My tartare sauce was perfect. They were friendly and pretty attentive, so that's always a plus. This isn't a place to go for ambience, but it is definitely a go-to if you're a fan of seafood! The only downside is that going by public transportation takes quite a while...
