Andriko's Seafood is almost hidden upon the restaurant precinct on Macgregor Terrace, but it truly is a wonderful Fish and Chip Shop. My husband and I have had take-away from Andriko's Seafood several times, we have always enjoyed the quality of the meals. We order the 'Seafood Platter for 2' ($26.50) which consists of; 2 cod, 4 prawn cutlets, 4 sea scollops, 8 calamari, chips and sauce, you can choose to have the cod grilled, battered or crumbed, either way it is consistently done to perfection. The other elements are battered, but they aren't off put-tingly oily as you would expect from a fish and chip joint. I know that people love 'Rainworth Seafood' and it is recognised as the go to fish and chip shop in Bardon, however I have been disappointed every time I have eaten there.
This evening, husband and I dined-in Andriko's for the first time. It was quiet in the restaurant but seemed to have an endless amount of take-away orders. Right away we felt relaxed in there, the atmosphere is peaceful even though you are on a busy strip. Pleasant Greek music plays in the background as you are surrounded by a clean ocean motif. In our usual style, we ordered the 'Dinner for Two Special' ($64.90) which consists of; your choice of any two fish cooked the way you like, four prawn cutlets, salt & pepper calamari, 2 garlic & coriander skewered scollops, beer battered chips and your choice of salad and sauce. I felt it was a little pricey but once we received the meal, I wasn't disappointed. Our meal came out about five minutes after we were seated, which was awesome.
We both went for the Salmon- grilled, both were cooked exactly the way we had specified and they were generous sized fillets. The prawns tasted so fresh and actually seem to explode in your mouth, the batter didn't drown out that prawns natural taste but in fact complimented it. The scollops again, tasted extremely fresh, they were seared and still opaque. The salt and pepper calamari was not very peppery, but that is forgiven as the calamari rings were cooked exactly the way calamari should be, to the point they almost just dissolve in your mouth. Cesar Salad was our choice, it was delicious, I think the sauce was made in store and had a hint of lemon zing. It did not have croutons or anchovies as one would expect in a Cesar, but the bacon is crispy enough that you do not notice the croutons absence.
Andriko's has Brisbanes very own 'Krazy Lemon Lemonade' (www.krazylemon.com.au) available, if you haven't had this lemonade, you need to STOP what you're doing right now and go on a mad dash to source and annihilate a bottle of this delicious stuff! Andriko, the owner is a nice a guy and lovely to have a chat to, in fact all the staff are friendly. I am going to be disappointed when I move out of the area and have to find another fish and chip shop, which I am almost certain will not compare. read more
