I called Aaron Gellie who offered to deliver it after he closed the shop, however, trying to be fair I just told him to note that I am owed 1 juice for my son next time I visit. I walked in today, again with my 3 1/5YO son to enjoy a meal together as father and son, because my son loves the chips and I like the burgers. I mentioned I am owed a popper juice and so the friendly staff who served me got Aaron to sort this out. I mentioned about the owed popper juice and ordered a burger for myself, chips and a drink and another kids meal deal which is $8.90 and requested just to deduct they popper juice. Aaron said that he would take my order of around $25+ dollars and just give me another popper juice, I told him that my son won't drink two juices, so he said just take it home and put it in the fridge. I stalled for a second and told him my son has a 6 pack of these drinks at home already just deduct the juice of his meal. Aaron persisted he did not wish to do this and basically starred at me to accept just taking another drink home. Well hang on a minute? How GREEDY is this guy? Firstly, I already paid for the drink he owed me last time and now he wants me to buy my little son another kids meal and pay FULL PRICE for it and just give me the popper juice I already paid for? Is this guy serious? He wasn't doing me or my son any favors, seriously Aaron, if your store is that hard up that you can't even deduct $2 from the kids meal I ordered AGAIN, or better still, offer him a free replacement meal for forgetting to put his drink in our take away order in the first place then you should have just told me your store is struggling financially and I would have just forgotten about the drink you said you would replace, (AGAIN - Which I had already paid for anyway). I just raised my hands and said "Wow I'M out" and left with my son and went to Oporto instead. The first time I had the chicken burger on the normal brioche bun - it was so good, I ordered another burger the second time around. My friend had one of the ensaladas and it was such a good size and really fresh and tasty! The menu just leaves me underwhelmed. Not because it isn't good our meals were decent (my vego sandwich - pumpkin, lentils, haloumi and rocket was a filling and reasonably healthy option for Saturday lunch). It's just that I feel the owner, one of Brisbane's most lauded chefs, could have taken more of a punt to bring together a menu that was bold and full of something more than a pasta dish, some hearty winter options (shanks) and open subs. I acknowledge this also could be what they're going for so that it is accessible to many. Perhaps as the weather warms and salads return to the menu this spot will truly shine. The prices are decent. $12-$14 for more subs and your most expensive mains being the lamb shanks at $24. Breakfast ranges from $10-$18 for their version of the big breakfast and there's a dedicated kids menu for breakfast and lunch. They'd run out of glasses on our visit and the service was a little patchy. From ordering to eating lunch there was a 45min wait for our meals (a rueben sandwich, a vege sandwich and a chicken salad to be brought to our table). And coffees that were ordered long after others were delivered first with us having to follow up on the others. Still, each time I've been at the home maker centre it's full. Which shows that it's a gem in a sea of hungry home shoppers wanting more than McDonalds and locals alike.
