As stated in previous reviews, I am not a fan of 'Fish and Chips' but when I do get it, I like it to be fresh and not too oily. At 'Fish Lovers', I feel like the fish is cooked to my desire. It took me a while to check this place out, it was not until someone recommended this place to me that I actually bothered. I came here on a very busy Saturday night to order takeaway, what initially surprised me was that this places charges more than other places (a meal with fish, chips and salad costs over $15). But when I noticed how the staff were picking out fish straight from the display fridge and bringing it to the kitchen, I realised the reason they charge these prices is because all of the fish they sell is cooked fresh. Nothing is cooked from frozen and the fact that they have the fish out on display for everyone to see shows that they have nothing to hide. I was pleased by how my fish was cooked, it was moist and not dripping with oil, as it should be! I can not write anything about the service as I only got my food to takeaway. Fish lovers is great little place for anyone who is a little picky about how they like their Fish and Chips cooked. It may be a bit pricier, but it is worth it.

Well...we went to Kick'in Inn Surfers Paradise on Friday 13th Feb this year for a seafood feast…read more Needless to say we were soooo disappointed - the flavours were beautiful, but the servings were ridiculously small. I am not a big eater by any means, however I ordered 2 half mudcrabs and 5 half bugs. My husband ordered 2 half lobsters and 5 half bugs. The mud crabs were so small I complained. The bugs, well 1 mouthful out of each bug. The mud crabs were that small, I asked the manager if they were in fact mud crabs? because they were the size of blue swimmers. He said yes they were mud crabs, and the were very small at the moment. I contacted Dept of Fisheries on Saturday and made a formal complaint.... the minimum size of a mud crab to be caught in Queensland is 15cm across the body, I told the Dept of Fisheries that these mud crabs were not even 10cm across. The Dept of Fisheries advised they would investigate. They called me back this morning and told me that the mud crabs and bugs were imported from Fiji, and they don't have a minimum size requirement. so they can get away with it. Dept of Fisheries told me we were served blue swimmers - not mud crabs...although some of the claws were mud crab claws The manager gave us a $70 discount, and we paid $101. I would not have even paid $100 for what we were served. I am not a big eater by any means, and we left the restaurant still hungry. MY SUGESTION ...... if you do decide to go there, ask if they serve Queensland mud crabs and bugs, or are they imported. So incredibly disappointed.... Yvonne Kirby

While seated, we repeatedly asked where our food was, as it took over 90 minutes to arrive, and our sides never came at all. The table next to us was also missing their sides. Despite us raising these concerns, the woman in charge never came to our table directly, instead, a waitress was sent back and forth relaying messages, which was incredibly frustrating and completely unprofessional. After we finally finished eating, staff did take away a few items from the bill, but for the long wait and the amount of food we never received, including crab, rice, and other items, it still wasn't worth what we were being charged. We tried to calmly work through the bill at the counter, pointing out what we hadn't received, but some items were still left on the bill. We went back and forth for at least five minutes just trying to get the final snow crab (which never came) removed from the bill. Instead of resolving the issue, the woman in charge told us she had been instructed over the phone by another manager to call the police, simply because we were trying to explain what was missing and make sure we were only charged for what we got. The situation was handled with zero professionalism and absolutely no attempt to de-escalate. And to make matters worse, we had brought THREE packets of birthday candles, and all of them were used on other people's cakes for other tables. While at the counter, I saw one of our candles in a cake in the back room, and when I asked about it, the staff member pulled it out of that cake and tried to hand it back to me. Completely unacceptable and unhygienic. What was supposed to be a fun birthday celebration turned into a frustrating, stressful, and embarrassing experience. Between the delays, missing food, poor communication, and the unnecessary involvement of the police over one missing item, this was by far the worst dining experience I've ever had. I absolutely would not recommend this place to anyone. They need serious training in communication, customer service, and basic hygiene.

My husband and I have had take-away from Andriko's Seafood several times, we have always enjoyed the quality of the meals. We order the 'Seafood Platter for 2' ($26.50) which consists of; 2 cod, 4 prawn cutlets, 4 sea scollops, 8 calamari, chips and sauce, you can choose to have the cod grilled, battered or crumbed, either way it is consistently done to perfection. The other elements are battered, but they aren't off put-tingly oily as you would expect from a fish and chip joint. I know that people love 'Rainworth Seafood' and it is recognised as the go to fish and chip shop in Bardon, however I have been disappointed every time I have eaten there. This evening, husband and I dined-in Andriko's for the first time. It was quiet in the restaurant but seemed to have an endless amount of take-away orders. Right away we felt relaxed in there, the atmosphere is peaceful even though you are on a busy strip. Pleasant Greek music plays in the background as you are surrounded by a clean ocean motif. In our usual style, we ordered the 'Dinner for Two Special' ($64.90) which consists of; your choice of any two fish cooked the way you like, four prawn cutlets, salt & pepper calamari, 2 garlic & coriander skewered scollops, beer battered chips and your choice of salad and sauce. I felt it was a little pricey but once we received the meal, I wasn't disappointed. Our meal came out about five minutes after we were seated, which was awesome. We both went for the Salmon- grilled, both were cooked exactly the way we had specified and they were generous sized fillets. The prawns tasted so fresh and actually seem to explode in your mouth, the batter didn't drown out that prawns natural taste but in fact complimented it. The scollops again, tasted extremely fresh, they were seared and still opaque. The salt and pepper calamari was not very peppery, but that is forgiven as the calamari rings were cooked exactly the way calamari should be, to the point they almost just dissolve in your mouth. Cesar Salad was our choice, it was delicious, I think the sauce was made in store and had a hint of lemon zing. It did not have croutons or anchovies as one would expect in a Cesar, but the bacon is crispy enough that you do not notice the croutons absence. Andriko's has Brisbanes very own 'Krazy Lemon Lemonade' (www.krazylemon.com.au) available, if you haven't had this lemonade, you need to STOP what you're doing right now and go on a mad dash to source and annihilate a bottle of this delicious stuff! Andriko, the owner is a nice a guy and lovely to have a chat to, in fact all the staff are friendly. I am going to be disappointed when I move out of the area and have to find another fish and chip shop, which I am almost certain will not compare.
