I've eaten outside twice and even just sitting in the area eating the food takes me away like I'm on holiday. You're surrounded by greenery and ugh the decor is very LA/Balinese vibes - it's really pretty. They make great drinks both smoothies& mocktails at breakfast time ;). They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner, & coffee and cakes from Jocelyn's Provisions ! Biggest yass ever because JP cakes are so yum. Table service and wait staff are good - they do get very busy though especially on weekends I have noticed. I have never noticed irritability or rudeness at all, despite how busy they get the staff always appear professional and calm. It is more $$ but the food and drinks is 5/5 quality. Street Parking is available both on the main road and just in the side streets - it's a short walk to score free parking. I already know this is one of my go to places for brunch with my friends if I feel like having a fancy brunch ohohoho!

Yet here I sat in The Single Guys, conversations echoing from each corner of the cafe that was full of people enjoying coffees and ordering from a wholesome menu with choices like a blueberry bagel with vanilla ricotta and honey, or swiss brown mushrooms, fetta, asparagus with fig vincotto on sourdough. Staff did a beautiful dance from table to table in their unofficial uniforms of a white tee, jeans and black cons. All complimented by their dark grey aprons against the navy and white walls of this unassuming but ready to be recognised cafe. From Moggill Road you might miss it so keep an eye out for their mascot, a lone deer on a sign. One of the owners tell me the stag is a play on the image being a symbol of bachelor life, although their name is more of an ode to their house blend being a combination of single origin beans. Despite the clean and hipsterific interior, the crowd here is mixed: young and old alike. It's a great hub of activity. I ordered the mushroom toastie which was the perfect breakfast or light lunch, and on a hot Summers day their Iced V60 black coffee was the deliciously mellow drink I needed to befriend on a day like today. And the flat white was perfection in a white china cup.

The menu just leaves me underwhelmed. Not because it isn't good our meals were decent (my vego sandwich - pumpkin, lentils, haloumi and rocket was a filling and reasonably healthy option for Saturday lunch). It's just that I feel the owner, one of Brisbane's most lauded chefs, could have taken more of a punt to bring together a menu that was bold and full of something more than a pasta dish, some hearty winter options (shanks) and open subs. I acknowledge this also could be what they're going for so that it is accessible to many. Perhaps as the weather warms and salads return to the menu this spot will truly shine. The prices are decent. $12-$14 for more subs and your most expensive mains being the lamb shanks at $24. Breakfast ranges from $10-$18 for their version of the big breakfast and there's a dedicated kids menu for breakfast and lunch. They'd run out of glasses on our visit and the service was a little patchy. From ordering to eating lunch there was a 45min wait for our meals (a rueben sandwich, a vege sandwich and a chicken salad to be brought to our table). And coffees that were ordered long after others were delivered first with us having to follow up on the others. Still, each time I've been at the home maker centre it's full. Which shows that it's a gem in a sea of hungry home shoppers wanting more than McDonalds and locals alike.

My server was friendly and was ready to offer suggestions on the menu. Our food did take a bit of time to prepare but it may be because my breakfast dish included an entire chicken quarter. The ambience was quiet and serene. The noise level was average. I could barely hear any conversations going on around me at other tables. The Wild Canary did have a vast menu. It was difficult to choose as everything sounded delicious. I'd definitely like to go back before my visit is over.

Our party of four arrived right on the cusp of the changeover between breakfast and lunch. We'd not made a reservation as our brunch adventures to Brookfield were rather ad hoc. If you take anything away from this review then let it be to make a reservation. We were thankfully seated quite quickly in the only table left without a "reserved" sign upon it. Even then, there was the definite feeling it was a table waiting for a party yet to arrive. As we had arrived in the changeover to lunch, service was a little distracted at first. The breakfast menu we'd viewed online was no longer an option but the specials our waitress told us about sang to us more than the standard cafe menu available for lunch. The special of pulled pork tacos with a corn and avocado salsa made it to our table for two of us (myself included), along with a seafood linguine and the Rueben. The tacos were grand. Three well sized corn tortillas stacked with meat, salsa and salad. Worth every penny. While I didn't try their coffee I did see a few AllPress take-away cups leaving with customers. And the best bit? Shopping in the nursery next door after you've had your lunch!

They are situated right behind the Homemaker's centre on Groggs Road and there honestly isn't much out there apart from a retirement home, day care centre and DFO up the street. I found the place at a friend's suggestion to meet for coffee and breakfast. They had a small deli section with some prosciutto and cheese as well some local homemade products for sale (jams, jewellery, books). Its not a huge space but is big enough for sufficient seating inside and outside. The decor was lovely, modern yet has that French art-decor style about it. They server, coffees, drinks, breakfast and lunches. I was here for a breakfast with a friend and we both orders a mug of Chai latte and a Prosciutto and cheese croissant. Both items were decent, good, not blow your mind spectacular, but good. We did come on a Monday morning so it wasn't very busy, but also not scary quite. Would I come here again? I think so. Though the location worries me a little as it is a bit out of the way for most people. I hope they would still be here the next time I'm in town.
