I have been thinking about coming here for ages, they always post beautiful pictures of their food on Instagram. It was very busy and we didn't book however probably only waited 10-15 minutes for a table. The man at who was greeting everyone was very lovely. I ordered the barramundi special and my sister ordered the pork burger special. The food did take quite a while to come out but the wait was definitely worth it. My Barra was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and the burger was delicious (I am not a burger fan but I would get this one!). We also enjoyed a strawberry milkshake which was tasty. They make all of their own syrups which give them great flavour. I would absolutely come here again but would book ahead if possible. The food was delicious and beautifully presented and the garden atmosphere was wonderful.

When a friend invited us to come along to brunch one morning in her local area of Brookfield, We were really happy, especially when she mentioned it was at a place we've always wanted to try Wild Canary. Now we normally don't get to drive over that way since we live closer to the city, but let us tell you now it is worth the drive! It's a pretty popular place so we recommend that you ring up and book in advance just incase. When you first arrive, you are greeted by an array of plants & flowers as you walk through the award winning Brookfield Garden Centre. It puts a smile on your face & feel like you could just about buy everything! You are then led to the beautiful Wild Canary, nestled amongst the gorgeous plants, trees and flowers! It's so beautiful and you instantly feel completely relaxed. The service was really good & efficient. Staff were friendly & took our orders with a smile. We couldn't decided what to order at first because everything looked amazing. We ordered the (Upper Brookfield Avocado salsa, dark German Rye toast, 2 poached free range eggs, lime, watercress, macadamia dukkaka, lime oil $17) OMG!! This was so delicious!!! We have to say, probably one of the best Poached eggs with avocado we've had. The german rye was still lovely & warm (almost like a warm cake!) & the combination of the macadamia dukkah, lime oil & avocado salsa was spot on! What made this special was that you could taste the freshness. Wild canary practices sustainable/ biodynamic gardening; which is organic. When you eat at Wild Canary you are supporting local farmers & butchers, & they also use all the vegetables, fruit & herbs from their garden! Amazing! We were so pleased that they used one of our FAVOURITE coffees from All -Press Burleigh. A coffee you will never find bitter but hits the spot as it tastes delicious & is air roasted!! So if you want to try something amazing, make a booking & head over to Wild Canary. They're open 7 days a week for breakfast - lunch 8:30-4pm & are dog friendly (if on a leash). In the future, Wild Canary will also be doing functions including Weddings receptions

Thankfully, Samarco 2 did not disappoint. Their spaghetti marinara was packed with flavour and was chock full of plump prawns and fresh mussels. The rest of the meal was equally good - especially dessert but you can't really go wrong with crème brulee. My only concern is that it's very expensive for a suburban Italian cafe - entrees and salads are around $15 -$20 and the mains range from $20- $35. For those prices, I would probably prefer to go into the city where I could get equally excellent food at a nicer venue.

We happened to be driving around Midde Park to put flyers for our business up (turns out, there are…read moreno places with billboards anymore), and noticed this new swanky shopping centre which used to be the daggy middle park shopping centre. Where on earth did this pop up from... and we live around this area. It seems a little out of place considering the surrounds and the general middle park area. Samarco 2 stood out like a sore thumb on the corner outside of the main shopping centre itself. So we thought it's hot, let's sit down in this nice looking alfresco restaurant. Don't know if it was because it was in the middle of the day, or they were a waiter short... not only were we shocked at menu prices for the location, but the place was a bit posh looking we chickened out and didn't just walk away. Big mistake. We waited to be served, I had to get up to ask if there was table service or not, then our food took forever to come out... but when it eventually did, it was very yummy. I ordered the Mexican Beef Salad (wasn't this an Italian Restaurant?) and noticed there were Szechwan Duck Spring Rolls and Nasi Goreng on there as well.... wasn't it spelt Szechuan? What are they doing putting asian food on the menu with italian pastas... oh no not again with the fusion. So the food was nice, but very expensive and they confuse me with their menu a little, mixing the original italian cuisine with a hodge podge of others I find... somehow cheapens the posh looking place... also they should spell check the menu. Try it out, but it's a little weird.

Yet here I sat in The Single Guys, conversations echoing from each corner of the cafe that was full of people enjoying coffees and ordering from a wholesome menu with choices like a blueberry bagel with vanilla ricotta and honey, or swiss brown mushrooms, fetta, asparagus with fig vincotto on sourdough. Staff did a beautiful dance from table to table in their unofficial uniforms of a white tee, jeans and black cons. All complimented by their dark grey aprons against the navy and white walls of this unassuming but ready to be recognised cafe. From Moggill Road you might miss it so keep an eye out for their mascot, a lone deer on a sign. One of the owners tell me the stag is a play on the image being a symbol of bachelor life, although their name is more of an ode to their house blend being a combination of single origin beans. Despite the clean and hipsterific interior, the crowd here is mixed: young and old alike. It's a great hub of activity. I ordered the mushroom toastie which was the perfect breakfast or light lunch, and on a hot Summers day their Iced V60 black coffee was the deliciously mellow drink I needed to befriend on a day like today. And the flat white was perfection in a white china cup.

The menu just leaves me underwhelmed. Not because it isn't good our meals were decent (my vego sandwich - pumpkin, lentils, haloumi and rocket was a filling and reasonably healthy option for Saturday lunch). It's just that I feel the owner, one of Brisbane's most lauded chefs, could have taken more of a punt to bring together a menu that was bold and full of something more than a pasta dish, some hearty winter options (shanks) and open subs. I acknowledge this also could be what they're going for so that it is accessible to many. Perhaps as the weather warms and salads return to the menu this spot will truly shine. The prices are decent. $12-$14 for more subs and your most expensive mains being the lamb shanks at $24. Breakfast ranges from $10-$18 for their version of the big breakfast and there's a dedicated kids menu for breakfast and lunch. They'd run out of glasses on our visit and the service was a little patchy. From ordering to eating lunch there was a 45min wait for our meals (a rueben sandwich, a vege sandwich and a chicken salad to be brought to our table). And coffees that were ordered long after others were delivered first with us having to follow up on the others. Still, each time I've been at the home maker centre it's full. Which shows that it's a gem in a sea of hungry home shoppers wanting more than McDonalds and locals alike.

They are situated right behind the Homemaker's centre on Groggs Road and there honestly isn't much out there apart from a retirement home, day care centre and DFO up the street. I found the place at a friend's suggestion to meet for coffee and breakfast. They had a small deli section with some prosciutto and cheese as well some local homemade products for sale (jams, jewellery, books). Its not a huge space but is big enough for sufficient seating inside and outside. The decor was lovely, modern yet has that French art-decor style about it. They server, coffees, drinks, breakfast and lunches. I was here for a breakfast with a friend and we both orders a mug of Chai latte and a Prosciutto and cheese croissant. Both items were decent, good, not blow your mind spectacular, but good. We did come on a Monday morning so it wasn't very busy, but also not scary quite. Would I come here again? I think so. Though the location worries me a little as it is a bit out of the way for most people. I hope they would still be here the next time I'm in town.
