I came here to order some gourmet salads for Christmas Day. And although they sounded amazing, creative and probably would have tasted divine - at $23.50/kilo, I had to fan myself with the menu and have a sit down. Before leaving without ordering. I have it on good authority that this is THE place that locals come for brunch on a weekend (but book a table). And the sarnies are apparently to-die-for. As is the expense, I'm sure.

Their coffee is Merlo and is good without being anything to write home about. All things considered, a Sunday morning coffee and BLAT in their very open and breezy outside seating area is a great way to start winding down the weekend.

When I first visited, it was their first week in business and since then they've settled into their cottage cafe. I was pleased to discover they're still pouring Supreme beans and my long iced black was the best accompaniment to a hot Spring day. There's an all day breakfast and a hearty lunch menu featuring items like beef brisket and plenty of vegetables! And, if you're only in the market for elevensies, check out the cake cabinet by the counter - lemon tea cake, raspberry friands - they're all there. I opted to order from the all day breakfast menu and honed straight in one the three cheese toast with buttered asparagus. Regardless of what time of day you're eating this it isn't a large meal - more of an ample snack. The Breakfast Stack is still my current favourite with poached eggs, smashed avo on sourdough, rocket, tomato salsa, Parmesan and balsamic. I always add an extra egg or mushies. The Big Breakfast is still H's favourite and is a generous serve of eggs, smoked bacon, pork chipolatas, hash brown, tomato & rocket served with toast.

It is one of the only places in Brisbane that serve turmeric lattes, they sweeten them with honey too. The other two I know of being Vegan Yum in Everton Park and La Pola Cafe in Ashgrove. I love the salads here. They are fresh and a nice change from SumoSalad. The also have some pretty good looking desserts and other nibbles. Oh, and they have a good selection of artisan breads including gluten free sourdoughs. There is a section in the back for buying groceries too. I found some decent vegan mozzarella there. I seem to always find myself here whenever I have an errand to run in Chermside.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, considering I ordered breakfast 15 minutes before it was over. The coffee I ordered came out as nothing short of excellent and the food hit the spot with my tastebuds. It was definitely enjoyable going from coffee to my meal and back without any interference on the flavours that this cafe has managed to capture and harness.
