Merlo is such an institution. Their blue cups and awnings dot around the inner city, including the fun corner roastery on James Street in Fortitude Valley. Merlo have also joined forces with Lick ice creamer to present various blends of ice cream... Mmm latte, mocha, espresso...
This cafe remind of many a Melbourne cafe. Could it be the geo tiles in smart Black and White? Or the cosy booth seats on either side with their servery smack in the middle? The bold art on the wall?
Coffee is always going to be their love, so food options are sparing. The usual cafe fare presents itself in a glass case. Focaccia, subs, slices, sausage rolls, quiche... Cake slices are pre cut lending itself to dry cake wall syndrome. Oh sure, it's a real thing.
Seating now. Two long rows of single seat back to back booths, the back of the room has a more accommodating 4-6 booth, tables outside under the awning for nice weather, or perch on a stool and look out the glass at passing populations. read more
