This tiny cafe looks partially like a converted garage - complete with rollers - and partially like someone's kitchen.
An assortment of slices, pastries and very large blueberry muffins tempted me when I arrived, and I was almost won over by the sound of the banana, choc & coffee smoothie ($6). They serve up Genovese coffee (loooove it), so I felt compelled to get a long black. I'd have liked a little more black and a little less long (quite watery with a very light crema and the contents of the cup spilled over the edges onto the saucer beneath).
My barista also doubled as a chef, hastily preparing a take away salad for the customer before me, then quickly prepared my coffee. The two chefs/baristas frequently disappeared, leaving me alone in the cafe, bar the sounds of the smooth hip hop emanating from some MP3 speakers. The hard, bright red wooden furniture contrasting with the Atlantic white walls create a somewhat cold ambiance, but I'm sure with more customers the place would feel a little more welcoming. read more
