I've just finished one of the best breakfasts I've eaten. Chilli con carne Quesadilla with potato, Manchego cheese, guacamole , poached eggs & jalapeño aioli. It was recommended by my friend I was eating with and It really was a brilliant dish. Awesome just crispy Quesadilla with perfect eggs and the quac and aioli finished it off beautifully. The coffee was good, add to that great friendly service and you have a shit hot cafe. We were watching all the other food being served and every plate looked amazing. I will be straight here next time in town and will struggle whether to choose the same dish or sample something else. read more

Great little spot in the middle of what is basically a residential area. We went here on a public holiday and had a 15 min wait, which was fine, sitting in their garden. Food was excellent, great flavours, generous portions and an interesting selection. We had the porridge, the breakfast spinach & cheese enchiladas and the breakfast dahl. The drinks took a while (simple order of coffee and tea), we were offered drinks while we waited for our table... We got the table before the drinks arrived. Hence a four rather than a five star. I'm a massive fan of little cafes that are nestled into side streets and places that are tucked away unassumingly along a busy area. The Corner Store Café is just that: hiding in plain sight along Sylvan Road. You can tell it's been renovated from an old-school cottage and that only exaggerates its charm. My roommate took me to The Corner Store Café and their coffee was superb. I'm not overly hard to please with most things, but I know how I like my coffee. This quirky little place delivers in that department. A really smooth flat white from here brightened my day. Although a little limited, their cuisine is also very easy on the palate. The chicken salad with haloumi I will recommend in a heartbeat! It's very quaint, the staff are friendly and quirky (thank you to the girl who complimented my ASOS bag), and the setting was absolutely lovely for a warm spring day. They have a lovely little garden just behind the outdoor seating area where I'm told they grow their own herbs and veggies. Cute! Ask or have a peek at their counter to see their selection of sweeter items. Last coffee orders are taken at about quarter to three for any of you long-lunchers. Open 7 days. 7am to 3pm. read more

Corner Store Cafe is an old corner store, revamped and turned into a funky looking cafe in Toowong. The female staff are all super gorgeous, trendy looking hipsters, and there is ample seating outside in the undercover area. Don't get me wrong, the girls were all very lovely, though some were a little scatter-brained. We went for lunch on a Monday, and it was full. I can only imagine this place is super busy on weekends too. However, the service was good and food came out pretty quickly for such a busy service. The menu is not that big, instead they just keep it quite simple with breakfast and lunch menu fitting on a single page. We ordered the Moroccon lamb salad and the Chilled prawn asian salad - both were about $16-18. My sister-in-law has been before and highly rated the Bacon Cheeseburger. They also serve a cold press coffee for $5, which you can order sweetened or unsweetened. Cold press is the latest fad it seems, I've noticed a lot of places are starting to do it, which pleases me to no end. Both the drinks and food menu on the website are out of date, we had different menus while in the cafe today. The breakfast menu looked really delicious so I think we'll be back here again soon! read more

Driving down Sylvan Road, my housemate and I spotted the Corner Store Cafe and immediately pulled up the car. "This looks like our sort of place" he exclaimed as we walked up to the renovated little cottage shop, with its freshly painted exterior and fresh lillies and onions on display in the front window. As soon as we sauntered in, the friendly and quite good looking staff smiled at us, making our little hearts flutter. "I like it already" I whispered to my housemate. For a Tuesday afternoon this little cafe was quite busy with barely a table free. The selection of sweets behind the counter made my mouth water and the latte was one of the sexiest and smoothest I have had in a long time. There was a lovely little garden and outside seating area but I could not get enough of the interior area. The walls were curiously lined with shelves holding everything from a spare lightbulb to cans of coconut cream and tabasco sauce lined up. I could have stayed there for a long time soaking in my surroundings but the take-away coffee's we ordered were ready in no time at all. This is definitely a place I need to return to in the near future. read more

When friends arranged for a group breakfast at Corner Store on the weekend, I was delighted, because it's been on my to-do list for ages. I can't even begin to tell you what an awesome brunch our group of ten had there (bookings are readily accepted for big groups). The menu isn't enormous but it packs a delicious punch - I had the corned beef hash with fried eggs and jalapeño aioli, and it almost blew my face off, it was that good. Paired with the delicious house blend coffee that was so sublime I had two, and the fact that I was suffering food envy over my brunchmates' meals EVEN THOUGH mine was already incredible enough... We were seated down the back near the herb garden (dramatically revealed when the big white sail-shade was rolled up around midday) and it couldn't have been more pleasant. Quite a late brunch meant that while it was buzzing when we came in at 11am on a Sunday, in another hour or so the pace had dropped off and around a third of the tables were readily available. Also, a table of the most attractive people I've ever seen (not talking about our table, surprisingly enough) had us fairly captivated for at least half of our time at the Corner Store. I'm told it's where The Beautiful People can be found on a fairly regular basis, so wear your mirrored sunglasses and maybe a drool bucket. For the view AND the food. I would love to give the Corner Store Cafe five stars, but the fact that their breakfast menu only runs until midday on a weekend (11am on weekdays) is like a dagger in my weekend sleep-in soul. read more

Zucchini and full fritter the size of a large phone/small tablet covered in perfectly poached eggs, crazy good tzatziki and a pile of salmon that probably cost the $18 I paid for the meal. Firstly I am reviewing on the food at this place not the coffee, cause I don't drink it. The store itself is vibrant and just a great place to sit down and eat your breakky. Theres a garden out back and a lot of seating. The staff are really friendly. I had the enchiladas my friend had the steak, egg and potato hash both really good. As usual, the family never fails to provide a decent rec! My first impression of the cafe is fantastic, I love the design of the indoor/outdoor seating area and the herb garden. Next up is service which was friendly, attentive and quick - all the things you want! Then onto the food - anywhere that has dishes that are a bit out of the ordinary is already tops in my book. We opted for the smashed avo (two ways) which was delicious and perfectly balanced with all the added flavours. Husband had the huge nachos with poached eggs. This was a massive meal, very meaty with a little spice and super tasty. Coffees were sublime with a delicious caramel flavour. I had a salmon poke plate- fresh/raw salmon, ginger soy dressing, brown rice, avocado- delicious and super healthy for you! Every single time I drive past this little place, it's packed. People are lining out the door, and I think to myself.. man, i've got to try this little cafe out. These people in Toowong must know something... right? So I keep driving past it for a while... the road is pretty busy and it is actually quite hard to stop on a busy day. So one day I do stop, and boy was it worth it. Unfortunately they only take table bookings for over 5 people so I couldn't get one of those but we were there about 10:30am so we were actually able to get a table... the waiter told me it was hopeless after 11am without a booking. Good for them, bad for me if i'm wanting to go there with a friend after 11am. I loved the fact they had freshly squeezed juices that allow you to mix the flavours... how cool is that? Now I could have my orange juice with that little bit of kiwi... just saying. You do pay about $6-$8 for your juice and the breakfasts do average about $18-$20... which is a bit pricey for my liking... those are coffee club prices, not corner store cafe prices! My friend who had a coffee got it in quite a small glass, it could have almost passed for a shot glass... come on, give us a little more is what you're thinking when they stop it by your table. It is a great place to relax and unwind on the weekend or during the week if you don't work though, it's in a great location, breezy, alfresco... they don't kick you out in a hurry. The true beauty is in the building. An old Queenslander done up and a great two tier extension on the side with amazing tables and great character. The staff are exceptionally friendly and the coffee meets and exceeds any bean hunters expectations. The food is in a class of its own with a well crafted menu to satisfy all with great options like the 'sautéed mushroom' that was my first experience of this place and it put me into a food coma of glorious taste. Make sure you try their fresh juice and get a lovely side of sour dough from the on site bakery. Definitely one for any foodie or cycling fanatic with great bike accessibility and storage. Tuesday morning around 9:30. It's looking busy. Walk up. Get a table straight away and order a milkshake. Small chat with my friend for a minute or two. Boom, the best vanilla milkshake you could ask for on a hot morning arrives right on cue. Order Belgian waffles with strawberries and ice cream, great decision I'm thinking. Probably 8 minutes later, they arrive, and they're glorious. Not joking, the ice cream tasted like melted butter on pancakes with a vanilla aftertaste. Not sure if that's a real flavour, but that's what I tasted and I'm sticking to it. I'm sold on this place now and the coffee that my friend ordered looked good, but I'll have to order one next time to make sure for myself. I have been 3 times in the last week for breakfast and lunch. I can't get enough. Coffee - try the unsweetened cold drip with no milk, in this weather. Breakfast - Han Chao is a great spicy rice alternative if you are sick of bready breakfasts. Smashed peas if you are looking to really fill up. Lunch - both fish tacos and sand crab bruschetta were delish. The layout of this place is odd, but in a great way. Sit outside on a cushion and look up through the high ceilings to the tall trees. Barista and kitchen men are hipsters and cute. Lady waiters run around smiling and serving in summer dresses, if you're in to that sort of thing. Look out for cyclists, taking up seats, sipping on coffee and water. read more

I'm a big fan of suburban cafes that surprise you with their quality, and The Corner Shop definitely fits that bill. If I was the kind of person who spends a couple of hours over a lazy weekend lunch, this is the kind of place I'd do it. As it turns out though, I'm more of a sit down, order, eat, and leave kind of guy. And even though the place was packed on this Sunday morning (complete with a post-buck's-party group at the table next to us, ball-and-chain and all), we didn't find ourselves waiting too long. We both had the Belgian waffles, which are absolutely huge. Whoever first thought to combine bacon, maple syrup and ice-cream on top of thick waffles deserves a sainthood. One star is lost due to a less successful second visit. We probably made the mistake of turning up right on the transition between breakfast and lunch, but as soon as we sat down, we were told it would be at least a 40 minute wait. We had to be somewhere else, so had no choice but to abort. read more

Brisbane needs more cafes like this one, lovely staff, Greta atmosphere although it can get busy because it's super popular. They need to change their brand of almond milk from almond breeze though as it has a disgusting after taste! I recommend Milk lab brand as they make a great macadamia coconut and almond milk for non dairy folk. Great place for a family birthday breakfast today, the place was buzzing with the cool set, but they let us in anyway. Excellent coffee and food,only disappointment was the corn fritter was obviously pre prepared in a tray , maybe it should be renamed corn slice? Staff very friendly bit slow to ask for second drinks but then a $248 bill was large enough! Word of warning don't park too close or near to the neighbors driveway, they have an oversized ( non council legal?) concrete crossing! Left a really nasty message on my 83yo mother in laws windscreen as she was just on a yellow line. I have only eaten here once a while back so i cant say too much about the food but i do remember it was a good meal! I do however love to stop in of a morning on the way to work for a fresh juice! After over a year of seeing the place and meaning to go we finally made it for breakfast. Cosy atmosphere on a lovely Sunday morning. Hubby ordered the corned beef hash which was good and I ordered the cauliflower gratin which was also very nice. Generous portions and the poached eggs on both plates were cooked extremely well (perfectly runny on the inside) . The only thing that was slightly disappointing was the coffee which tasted over extracted (evidenced by the leftover grind in the bottom of our cups). We have been here before and had a good time, but this morning's food really disappointed in every way. My lasagne toastie should never have made it out of the test kitchen, and the 'salad' it was served with was nothing more than some lettuce leaves drizzled with balsamic vinegar. No oil, no other veg, very disappointing. My wife had a salmon and egg dish which was an overflavoured mess. The eggs were overdone and there was so much wet liquid from whatever the vegetable was that the toast was soggy wet. She couldn't finish it. This is probably one of the best breakfast cafés in Brisbane. Now that the Local Bean Cafe in Kenmore has closed it's probably the best in the western suburbs. The menu is varied and everything tastes fantastic. The service and staff are always super friendly and helpful if you're not sure what you want to try. The building is a converted workers cottage in Toowong and has been beautifully finished and has a great veggie patch out the back that kids love to run around in. read more
