Another cafe restaurant for Trafalgar Lane!
We stopped by the few-days-old The Priory Kitchen in Woolloongabba's Trafalgar Lane, whose owners have a great track record, having formerly owned Pablo in New Farm.
A stylish and welcoming space, the menu focuses on seasonal, local produce, and is a breakfast to dinner kind of affair.
Lunch is served from about 11am, and the evening menu from 3pm.
The menu revealed a range of beverages including hang-over cures, beers and ciders, wines, as well as teas, smoothies, frappes, and juices.
Coffee by Bare Bones was pleasant, exuding a slightly fruity taste, and easy to drink.
Seeing as the breakfast menu extends to 3pm, we decided on the;
1. House beetroot cured ocean trout, of fresh radish, herbs, pea puree, minted labne, heirloom tomatoes, soft boiled egg, rye croutons ($18) &
2. Slow cooked savoury mince, served with herbed crème fraiche ($18). My meal was lovely, and very enjoyable to eat. Fresh, gorgeously plated, and colourful.
Loved the pickled carrots and the soft texture of the ocean trout. Would have loved an extra egg on the plate or some additional croutons.
My friend's savoury mince was huge in portion, but was "okay", in the taste department, and she observed that there wasn't many options for her (as someone requiring a dairy-free meal).
Overall, The Priory Kitchen is a great addition to Trafalgar Lane, and we'd come back to try some other items on the menu. read more
