Located in the old Bank Building it has a good choice of dining in or outside. Most people come for the pastries and desserts but lunch is a favorite. Ordered the sweet potato and capsicum soup - this is a winter staple, served with two bread rolls. It is excellent and they do run out - been disappointed when arrived late. The coffee is good - would not say great but it is a French cafe, after all. There are other food choices but very limited gluten free options - the macaronis are gf except the cookies & cream. The desserts speak for themselves.

The only thing that's Australian about this place is its address. If I were blindfolded, flown to Brisbane, taken to Le Bon Choix with the blinds closed, I would have thought someone kidnapped me to Paris. The décor is typical clean delicate French. The employees all have a French accent, and the desserts are what you would see in the myriad of bakeries lining Champs-Elysees. Initially, Le Bon Choix didn't impress too much. When you walk in, all you see is simple pastries and sandwiches. However, as you walk around to the north side of the shop, you will see rows upon rows of delicately crafted and stunningly vibrant individually sized cakes. Most notable are the following two: - L'Esperance: Smooth coconut mousse, filled with crunchy chocolate pearls, laced with passionfruit jelly - Bamboleo: Mixed fusion of mango mousse, passionfruit and banana jelly If you haven't noticed, I have an affinity for passionfruit. When you bite into one of these, it's like the sweet and receptors and sour receptors in your taste buds are dancing to the Blue Danube Waltz. Each of the cakes is so delicately fluffy it feels like you're biting into a cloud. Words don't do it justice. Pictures might help, but there's nothing like the experience itself. No wonder almost every travel website on Brisbane lists Le Bon Choix as one of the top cafes in town.

I went to Le Bon Choix for a coffee and treat after brekkie on my last day in Brissie and what a brilliant call that was! I love it!.. Love it!!! Love it!!! It's at 379 Queen Street so about a 10 minute stroll from the CBD and, with all the offices and shops closed in this part of town on Sunday, it's pretty quiet but it's ok.. kind of a nice change if you think about it.. Le Bon Choix is very 'French' all the way - the interior is quite vibrant with the white walls going well with the white tiles and the whole place just feels very fresh.. The counter and display are at the centre so you can walk around and feast your eyes on all the delicious bread and treats on offer. All of the staff were french when we went and we were greeted with a pleasant smile followed by a Bonjour. The girl who served us was great - attentive, warm and very nice. My flatwhite was quite good and I also had a Lenette (White chocolate mousse with a pear and honey jelly and chocolate brownie) which was abso-freakin-lutely awesome! Tell you what though.. I had all sorts of trouble choosing what to get.. They all looked delicious - the Akina (12 layers of chocolate, mint tones, mousse and cake), the eclairs!, Lucie (Combination of a coconut dacquiose and a light strawberry mousse) to name a few and I had struggled big time to refrain myself from going for seconds! Le Bon Choix is not just about sweet treats though. They also Turkish, Sourdough, Ciabatta and baguettes. The ham and salad baguette and Croque Monsieur looked great. This place is a definite must-try. I can't wait until my next trip - Vanilla Eclairs.. We'll meet again...

Just like a Parisian cafe -- literally. Le Bon Choix is a neat copypasta of an average Parisian cafe in the heart of Brisbane CBD. After reading some rave reviews, I stopped by one Tuesday afternoon. The counter is clean and white with the tarts behind clear perspect. The staff greet you with a Bon Jour in a thick French accent. Be sure to BonJour back, it's the polite thing to do. The decor is very Paris. All the way down to the chairs outside which look identical to any Parisian cafe on the seine. Perhaps it was the time of day, but the Eclair I ordered was rather average. The pastry was dry and only half filled with creme. Disappointing for $7 a pop. The Lucie, a smokestack of raspberry mousse, was adequate but I was left wanting. The coffee was smooth and delicate, and served with a glass of water, a very European custom that cafes everywhere should adopt. If you're a francophile, save yourself the airfare to Europe and give this place a go.

The city is quite literally overflowing with places where you can get a coffee and something to eat. You would then think that they are all the same then and that you choose one by what ever is closest to where you work or happen to be walking at the time you want a coffee. I am glad to say that luckily this is not the case and i for one am glad that its not because that would make life far to boring. Le Bon Choix is great place to have a morning or lunch time coffee and due to its location is frequented by the masses who work in the CBD. This is for good reason because for the time you there you can pretend as if you have escaped to Paris with one of their many French inspired pastries. And yes they do a mean croissant which should go with out saying. The coffee is good as well so even if you are just in need of a morning pick me up Le Bon Chiox s great.

Oh Le Bon Choix, how I love your Chocolate Eclairs. On a summer's day, I sink my teeth into one, tasting first the sweet icing, then the slightly savoury choux pastry and finally, out oozes the cool chocolate filling. I've been told by a Frenchie in Brisbane that Le Bon Choix is the best patisserie--better than Chouquette in Newfarm, and better than French Twist--and I would have to agree. It has a huge range of pastries, sweet things and breads and is well-equipped with indoor and outdoor seating. It's true that Le Bon Choix is "the right choice".

    The "small" sampling I purchased.

If you want a great dessert this is the place.. the place seems to run out of selections so get there early you won't be disappointed. I got a selection of desserts. The caramel cake was my favorite. The staff was helpful in giving recommendations and very knowledgeable. The coffee side was also very tasty. Definitely will be stopping here again before we leave.

Really nice establishment. Their menu is very lofty with so many choices. Had the Bacon Quiche that was so flaky and flavorful. A decadence if awesome treats for the sweet tooth too. Must stop in.

Thankfully their price tags prevent me from making decisions my metabolism will regret, though it means I haven't tried much of their offerings. On a special occasion, I called in to order a small flourless chocolate cake (34) - an easy choice when choosing for a chocolate lover. I was rather excited, as I'd never been able to justify going to Jocelyn's Provisions "just because." The flourless chocolate cake is a dense chocolate cake with chocolate nuts, and toffee and praline bits. Not having looked at the pictures too closely previously, we were all impressed with the sugar lattice on the cake. Although a bit of a strange combination to have paired chocolate with a sugar lattice (flavour-wise), it was a lovely touch to the cake. It says online that the small cake is for 6 people, but we managed to make eight pieces, with all of us being satisfied (and even having some difficulty finishing the cake after dinner at Siam Samrarn). Needless to say, that was one delicious rich and dense chocolate cake! Even though I tend to not be a fan of chocolate cakes - or just cakes in general - if you want a scrumptious and impressive looking cake, this is the place to go!

Woah. Hold on, take a break. Food first, chill, lose some of the crazy. Ok, moving on. This Brumby's used to be accompanied by it's hardbaked counterpart across the walkway, however now it's the meal selling variety with those hard working (review writing while at work) desk jockeys buying last minute breakfasts or pre-emptive desk lunches. It's located on level A of the Myer Centre, a hop skip and jump down the escalators from the Queen St Mall, or a shuffle up from the chemist on the Elizabeth St side. Ambience *** If you've got time on your side, you could eat at the store in one of their couples tables to the side, of which there are roughly six. Otherwise, don't look for that wood and burgundy style decor you might have come to expect, look for lime green, white and burgundy plastic, shiny surfaces. It's pretty hard to miss. Somehow the back of the store always looks like its about to get stocked, or has just been stocked, with piles of boxes, baking tray holders, etc, visible from the front; it looks like a calamity waiting to happen, to be honest, but the staff don't seem to pay it any mind; maybe they just need a bit more interior fitout done? Service **** I rarely get to run here without finding a crowd of people hovering at the chin high (ok, I'm short!) counter, waiting to be served. The line goes quickly though, as they usually have four or more servers on at peak times. As this is a heavy traffic, high turnover food outlet, it pays to have the right money or not to have to pay EFTPOS. I always make sure I have $4 in my purse for a quiche Lorraine, but more on that later. The servers are always polite, I've ordered food for me, food for the office, catering for meetings any number of times. They do deliver if you're getting catering, however I find it's just as easy to jump downstairs myself, to pick it up. Sometimes I find the servers are a bit rushed, but I've always gotten a 'hello' and a smile. Food **** Expect the full range of Brumby's baked goods on offer here, plus wraps, sandwiches, toasted sandwiches, slices, frittatas, quiches, more and more - hell's bells if I know whether they're all made onsite or whether they come from another Brumby's bakery, though. I've opted to switch between Coles and Brumby's for staff birthday cakes to keep my office co-inhabitants on their toes, but I will always prefer to get to Brumby's if I can for them. They die for the lamingtons and banana bread, and I die for the quiche Lorraine. Seriously, I'd swear they've cut something illegal into them to make them that more-ish. Cheesy, oniony, bacony goodness in a little square; perfect for an express nom before going back to work. I prefer mine cold, but they are happy to heat up a quiche or frittata if you're eating and running. Additional notes I have noticed a coffee machine here, though I've no idea what it's like as I usually retreat to the safety of work as quickly as possible.

Most of my friends fall into Team Chocolate and I've become very used to being served a piece of chocolate birthday cake at parties and leaving it on the plate half finished. A couple of years ago at a dear friend's 21st I watched the cake be presented with a flourish. Chocolate again, I thought. I had to admit that it was a beautiful looking cake, covered in huge, elaborate chocolate curls and sprouting sparkly butterflies and stars on silver stems but I didn't expect my tastebuds to enjoy it as much as my eyes were. After one bite of the cake I knew there'd be no half-eaten leftovers on my plate this time. Through a mouthful of mud cake I demanded to know where my friend had gotten such a cake. 'MULSH NADY' she replied, her mouth was just as full as mine. 'Huh?'. She swallowed her chocolate-y mouthful and said 'Welsh Lady'. I nodded, swallowed, and went back for seconds.
