Brunch here was a lot of fun this morning ! We arrived at 9:30am & it was a busy atmosphere for sure. We were lucky to get a table of 4 & the ordering process was fast & friendly. The staff were helpful & I knew they were doing the best they could with having to tend to a full house. All our food came really timely (& we ordered extra drinks per person & an extra dish too haha) & everything was definitely instaworthy but also delicious.
The iced tumeric latte I chose with almond milk was not overwhelming both in flavour & sweetness but have to admit did not have the smoothest texture - gritty from the tumeric mixture? - possibly not to everyones liking but I still liked it though !
The pink pitaya panna cotta with berries, honeycomb & granola was sooo good though. Didn't just have an enticing visual appeal, but was also satisfying where you would have a super smooth well flavoured, melt in your mouth panna cotta: but with additionally great textures of almonds, cashews, raspberries, blueberries etc. At first I didn't understand the jar of chosen milk on the side but it is definitely needed as even though the panna cotta is good, the granola needed extra saturation/moisture/wetness ? :p The only downfall I found was the honeycomb in this dish as I found it way too chewy, sticky & sweet, but that may just be my preference because I still found it a good extra on the dish.
Last but not least was the main attraction people come here for: the rainbow coffee which is rainbow art over steamed milk & a shot of double espresso on the side. It is visually intriguing & unique. Very pretty. Mine didn't look as good as the others on the table & I believe thats due to almond milk being used than normal full cream milk. I really like how the shot of espresso is on the side, so that you are in charge of how strong you want your coffee to be! But in all honesty, although fun to order & experience... if blind folded while tasting: it would still taste like an above average coffee at the end of the day - still very enjoyable !
Will come back if I'm ever on that side of town again as there were plenty other breakfast/brunch foods, specials, drinks & even their lunch menu to try. Really good cafe located in suburbia - thanks Piggy Back Cafe :) ! read more
