Because it ain't a good restaurant without a wait right?): TASTE: No arguments here. The taste is pretty good and it lives up to its name (Fun fact: Sedap means delicious in Malaysian). PRICING: Very comparable to Mamak. Also accepts cards. LOCATION: Best location for a restaurant ever. MENU: More variety than Mamak. Not to mention presentation: Nasi Lemak on a pandan leaf! Authentic. Laksa dishes are in a traditional bowl. I guess the only defining factor about Mamak is the roti and the late closing hours. SEATING: More of a casual place, so there is an option to share your table or share with others. So its great for those who just want food but don't want to take-away (less waste in landfills!)

Want some hawker style Malaysian food? Look no further than Sedap…read more Found at Regent Place off George Street, Sedap offers tasty Malaysian food at super quick speed. Seriously, after we put in our order all our food came out within 5 minutes. The menu is pretty large, with the lunch and dinner menus being separate. You can get a wide range of seafood dishes, noodle dishes, vegetable dishes (with choice of sauce), and chicken/beef/pork dishes. We ordered the roast chicken, water spinach, and hokkien style pork belly. The first two dishes were really good, the pork belly wasn't that good...probably wouldn't order that one again. The menu is pretty different to Mamak, which I'm actually not a big fan of (outside of their roti) and I vastly prefer this menu to theirs. The food was great, prices reasonable for a group, as it came out to $17pp. It's not really cheap and cheerful if you're eating solo but it isn't expensive either. I'll definitely be back.

The only other place in Sydney that's comparable is Pasteur, but it costs $2 more! 2) Price - $11.50... It's cheaper than Pasteur, but more expensive than TK Pho (small portion size). It's still not as cheap as in CA #justsayin' :) 3) Quality - Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh. No restaurants in Market City should have an excuse for not having fresh produce. Paddy's Market is just downstairs! It's called "Bun HEO (pork) Nuong Cha Gio" here, but it's basically the same thing. They also have dishes under the heating lamp if you want to get a combo rice or noodle with two/three items for less than $10. I personally would rather do the made to order menu... It's FRESHER that way :) Cam On Thanh Tam!!! ---- [15.11.13 Addendum] ---- If I didn't love this place enough for their Beef Vermicelli Noodle. They King Hit me with their Com Bo Luc Lac (Shaken Beef w/Rice) Everything was perfect about it. The beef was so tender and juicy, the "red" rice was tasty, the leafy greens were fresh, they gave a side of cabbage soup and salt/lemon dipping sauce (TK Pho downstairs does not)... The cabbage soup and dipping sauce is what makes it AUTHENTIC! And you know what was the kicker???? PORTION SIZE!!!!!!!! The first time in my 64 days in Sydney that I've said I'm full... Incredible! 6 stars if possible :)

It has operated out of Surry Hills, Market City and has now taken up residence in the nearby Mount Batten Hotel Situated on George Street in Haymarket. This restaurant is now on our list of recommended Pub meals. Bo 7 is run by the friendly owner Phil who has great passion for the food that hits the table and takes pride in providing the best of service. Not only is the food good, it is reasonably priced. We shared a range of dishes to start including the stuffed chicken wings with crispy skin and a tasty chicken mince stuffing. The bo la lot - bo nuong, and the bo la lot nuong than both with charcoal beef in betel leaf was a flavour explosion and the latter added to a lettuce leaf cup with fresh mint and bean sprouts which added freshness of the salad and textue through the crisp lettuce cups and bean sprouts. The spring rolls did not last long at all. All of these dishes were served with a dipping sauce to further enhance the flavour. The shredded chicken salad a good healthy option. Came out nicely plated with large house made rice crackers and the salad with a well balaced dressing. All elements combing to give each bite a nice balance of flavour. We love bun bo hue a spicy Viet noodle soup. This was not too spicy, it was super tasty with the broth doing plenty of time. The portion was quite large with plenty of beef and noodles, defenitely one for the hungry. The Mountbatten is your typical pub with beer on tap, plus your usual including wine. However they have a trump card in Bo 7 which serves up quality vietnamese food at a great price.

There was 5 in our party so we got to try different dishes. The flavours were very good and bold. The scampi simmered until golden with secret sauce was amazing. You have to order by number of scampi and the sauce is essentially shrimp head. We had that with white rice and it was so delicious. The cockles were so fresh and tasty with the salt and lime juice. The clams in lemongrass was so yummy with the sauce and was really good with the fish sauce that they provide. The minced beef rolls where you wrap it in rice paper with rice noodles, been sprouts, cucumber, pickled carrots and basil, etc were delicious and flavourful and was really tasty with the dipping sauce. The silver fish steam boat had a very rich and flavourful sweet and sour broth and they give you a very concentrated fish sauce to add a bit to the soup as it was too salty. It was very tasty and flavourful. The dessert of the silken tofu and black pearls was delicious as well. A definite must try but will need a car to get there. Will need to go back to try more dishes.

My group and I sat down at their outdoor seating area and we were given 2 menus each. One is your usual Vietnamese menu and the other is their grilled chef's specials. And of course we ordered off the grilled menu. It didn't take long before our first order arrived, Suckling Pig Trotter Thai Style Soup, a lovely hot and sour soup with flavours of coriander, basil, chilli and lemongrass. Fresh and comforting. The Organic Grilled Chicken with Sticky Rice has a nice smoky flavour from the grill and sweetness from the marinate. The Grilled Eggplant and Okra had a nice char on the outside and beautiful smokiness on every bite. The highlight was the Grilled Cockles with Tamarind sauce. Sticky goodness of spicy, sweet and sour with crushed peanuts for texture. Suffice to say this is definitely my go to place if I ever crave Vietnamese BBQ.

We don't have a lot of Malaysian options in Vegas that seem authentic so I jump at the chance to have food like this whenever I can. I opted for the laksa with fried chicken and I wasn't disappointed. The fried chicken was juicy and really flavorful. The broth was lovely and authentic. The noodles were bountiful but the veggies were not. Sometimes the veg is my fave part so that made me a bit sad. Luckily, my partner isn't a veg fan and gave me the bok choy off of his plate. YUM! I got an order of roti myself because the Malay version is my absolute favorite. This one did not disappoint. Crispy, savory, tasty and oily in just the right way. We also had the roti platter with curry chicken. Really good. I love the sambal that's peanut and ikan bilis (fried fishies).

The beef was topped with a maple butter au jus that was flambéed at the table. Absolutely brilliant presentation! Every bite of every dish was perfect, without exception. It is casual fine dining in the sense of the food produced. It misses the mark with only one wait staff to 12-13 tables. The waiter was lovely, however due to her being spread across so many tables, we only had one glass of water for the whole night. No refills. We had to ask twice to receive our drinks order. The food however was served timely. There was very little waiting. Three courses completed in an hour and a half. This setting should have oozed atmosphere, set in the basement of a heritage building, but it didn't, due to being so busy they may have forgot to put on the background music. However, there is something I cannot put my finger on. It just lacked atmosphere. The food however, was presented lovely, we had an entrée of pork belly and fig salad. The pork belly was missing that layer of fat that you expect. The fig salad was beautiful. For mains we had the beef with marrow and the chicken. The beef was cooked exactly as ordered and was well balanced. The chicken in regards to flavour a was lack lustre but cooked well (my original choice was the barramundi, but they didn't have it). We then had the banana Crème brûlée and mango and passionfruit mess. Delicious by all accounts.
