This is the most important review of Sean Canfield and Finishing Touch Hardwood Floors that you can…read morefind. License ID CT-24148. Sean is certainly capable of 4-star workmanship, but he doesn't deserve any stars based upon my recent experience of him abandoning our $20,000 job. After walking off our job he promised to refund the $6,000 deposit, then he changed his mind and made demands, then threatened me with a lawsuit. His outrageous temper and behavior shocked us and I will have him arrested if he ever shows up here. I've just learned that collection of my deposit is unlikely. In this year of 2026 Sean has refused to pay a First Circuit judgment (1DRC-25-0006744 - Juliana Simone, v. Sean Canfield) and DCCA might be compelled to pay this homeowner from recovery funds (Hawaii's Contractors Recovery Fund compensates homeowners for financial damages caused by licensed contractors who have committed fraud, misrepresentation, or abandonment). In a similar court case 1RC161003207, the homeowner and Sean cannot post online comments, so you can't learn about it here. Sean M. Canfield and his wife, Lisa Canfield, owed the IRS $35,000 in unpaid taxes resulting in a lien on their home. If the IRS cannot collect after many years, what chance does a homeowner like me have against him? He texted me "My wife is the CFO for Goodsill Law Firm" implying that he has the upper hand in financial and legal matters. Before you give any money to Sean, be aware that he might abandon your project and never pay you back. It happened to me and it could happen to you. Be sure to read the 1-star reviews here for the most accurate information. -Sean was the cheapest but I wish I never used him. -Nobody stole his equipment, that's a lie. -I've never posted a review before, but decided the public needed to know about this person to save themselves from the time, expense, and brain damage we've had to endure. I hope Sean never takes advantage of another person in our community. -he was screaming and yelling at us and slamming our front door, we locked the door because we were afraid of him. Police came and were apologizing to me for having to deal with Sean and gave it to him. -I have ample texts and audio of Sean completely going off the rails, and on some occasions making veiled threats. I'm not sure if I can share them on Yelp, but if anyone doubts my review, feel free to reach out and I will share them. Sean also attempted to pay me to remove my Yelp review, which I refused. -I would highly recommend NOT letting Sean refinish your floors. He completely wrecked our downstairs floor, didn't finish the upstairs, and simply took our money and quit. -it was obvious this guy was a talker and a salesman with very little real knowledge about hardwood flooring. Take heed of some of the other reviews and go with a real pro. -Anytime I bring up issue with floor he got worked up and blamed us. If can, use someone else, if no can use Sean. He not real good. -Called multiple times and left messages and no call back. Better to go with someone else that actually wants to work -I just read Sean's response which is not true. I wrote this review to help others, I have no reason to lie. -cost over $6,000. I asked Sean to give me a partial refund for the living room floors and he refused. I filed a case with RICO and they said that I would have to take him to court to get any money back. -have to pay someone else around $3000.00 to have their supposedly guaranteed work fixed. Oh and don't mention to Sean about writing a bad review cause when we did he screamed at us! Horrible work and customer service. You should be ashamed Sean! -Feels like I was conned by this company. They did not repair the damaged floor and covered with darker color coating. Still showed scratches that was supposed be gone with money I paid. Horrible job and bad attitude. -We knew then you were trying to set up more of a scam. You have decided to "mess" with the wrong people Sean. You are a sorry example for anyone that aspires to be a business owner. Your inability to take ownership of a mistake made by you or a mistruth stated by you projects your true colors. Complete and total dishonesty. Despicable. -"this is Sean with Finishing Touch Hardwood Floors. Hey your damn wife left a shit as ah ah review on Yelp, real nasty. You know what, she's a real nasty woman, man. You know what, I'm going to have my lawyer contact you real soon. So, you better either get that off of Yelp or you guys are going to be dealing with my lawyer. I swear to God, I'm going to call my lawyer is you don't take that off of Yelp". -Terrible! Didn't finish the job. Damaged the floor in one area and didn't fix it. Didn't follow up as promised. Not recommended

He took his time to be sure to understand my needs and kept me informed of the progress and what to expect. Four of my other family members were so impressed, they hired him to do their floors and are extremely happy - including my mother who is a hard sell. He even installs custom borders. Friends who have seen my floors, have called him and have hired him. They have been totally impressed with his passion and knowledge. Sean is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and the last of a dying breed of true craftsmen. If you are looking for a person who truly knows his craft, you have found the perfect company to hire. I would not hesitate to hire him again and I highly recommend him for your flooring needs.

Like many others, we had a great experience with Paradise Flooring and would highly recommend them…read morefor any/all of your flooring needs! I used them twice in the past year. The first time was to replace laminate flooring in half of my condo following a refrigerator leak. Paradise Flooring was able to match the existing flooring, originally purchased from a different company nearly 10 years ago. They also connected me to a great installer. The whole process was smooth and efficient, and the finished product is perfect, as if nothing had ever happened. The second time was purchasing ceramic tiles for the shower wall of my parents' condo during their building-wide plumbing replacement. Again, I wanted to match the existing shower walls (possibly from the 80's) and although a perfect match was not possible, the ones we chose are very close and look great. Besides the product itself, I appreciated Paradise Flooring for their clear communication, kind and professional staff, and efficiency and care even though this was a relatively small job. They were able at help me look for carpeting that fit my needs, without making me feel pushed - or like I was getting the hard sell. And...they were nice about everything...When I had questions about the process, they responded to my e-mails in a very timely manner. Paradise did not do the carpet installation themselves, but they were able to provide me with contact information for vendors that they had vetted and found to be reliable. This was very helpful - as the vendor I chose was one of their recommendations, and he was also very good.

She knows a lot about the business and steered me in the right direction, making me feel confident abt my purchase. The price was right and the install was set up within a week! The installers came and did a great job and everything looked perfect. One small thing I want to point out is that the carpet scraped one side of the wall when they were cutting or laying it down, and didn't mention a word about it to me. I had to get the paint out and paint the wall about 1' by 5'. I didn't like that they couldn't fess up to that. I'm sure it must happen a lot of times. My lanai had a (very) uneven faux flagstone overlay that was annoying by itself, and worse when I tried covering with wood tiles creating a "floating floor" which is euphemism for "uneven and extremely annoying." Keoni reviewed my issue and presented options for making it better to include costs of each. After choosing a path, he was communicative in scheduling, the team arrived on time, and I was so impressed with their work ethic, respect for my home, and neighbors. They cleaned the job site everyday at the end of each day, and even cleaned our window screens and lanai door screen - I mean, who does THAT? No detail left to us to clean up after they finished. They completed the job as agreed finished on time, and accounted for every detail and flaw in my lanai to make it right.
