So many other courses at Myrtle Beach surround you with houses and condos while you golf, but not Wild Wing Avocet. The greens were in great shape and played true and challenging. Multiple tee box options, so choose wisely. Many multi tiered and undulating greens will test your ability to read the contours. Pace of play was just right and we finished our round in just under four hours. For comparison sake, I also played MBN King's North this week and found Avocet to be both a more challenging and enjoyable round. I probably won't play King's North again, but will definitely be back to Wild Wing Avocet!

There is just too much water, where your misses go, can cost you $40.00 in Pro V1x's if your not paying close attention. There are about 9 holes where water is on one side or the other on tee shots, yet I think there should put the water in front of some greens to really test the players ability and utilize the water for more than just left or right hazards. Green's fees will run you about $50 to $85 for the 141 slope 73.4 course rating, that will give the average player a very good test.

He was cutting grass on several holes as we played and stayed in the way of my (the woman) shots running his very loud diesel engine while I addressed my ball and on 18 as we were putting he continued mowing around the green ! Bottom line ...do not recommend this course for ladies due to lack of restrooms and maintenance guy lack of courtesy for a woman!

My first time playing this West Course. There are a total of…read morethree 18 hole courses all together. Visiting the area with the Golf Guys, a group of 24 guys for a 3 day long weekend for golf. The forecast was for rain because of Hurricane Isaias, category 2. We were fine through the first 9 and then the rains came and delayed us for about an hour. I was ready for a rain check but the rest of the guys wanted to finish up so we could get the points totals for the last round I was fortunate to card two Closest to Pin winners. This is an older course and it feels like it. There are no GPS on the carts. The cart path asphalt is broken and missing for yards in some areas. All the Staff was nice even though it was threat of rain, there were quite a few people playing and the Staff did a great job of managing it. I would recommend this course though. There is not a lot of water but quite a number of fairway bunkers and green side bunkers. It's pretty wide open and I especially liked the short Par 3's. First time I've ever seen a course where #18 is a Par 3 finishing hole.

Giant black squirrels kept running around the tee box during my shot (I still hit the fairway). Last piece I want to mention is the price. I was led to believe that I could play the course for $5 (YOUTH ON THE COURSE) but they did not honor that and we wanted to add a cart fee to which they said they don't do here. Not sure where my $75 went but was hopefully donated to a better cause than this sorry establishment.

There hasn't been a bad meal yet, and the service is quite friendly and fast. They set up a large buffet a few times a week and each is themed. So far I've done the Taco night, Stuffed Pork Chop night, Italian night and so on and everything has been fantastic and for a very good price. This is important considering just how much the cost of food has gotten in this current economy. Now I've never been a pork chop person but I do indeed love their stuffed pork chops. That should tell you something. Mary Bell is the woman in charge of the team preparing the dinner service and she's awesome. I've found Mary checking in with patrons in the dining area as well as being one of the folks helping people get their eats on the buffet line with a smile and a quick chat. My folks are there so much that they now seem like old friends. It's a pleasant atmosphere for sure and you will not leave hungry. I'm not lying when I say that I look forward to my next visit to the folks so we can all enjoy the Pine Lakes together again as a family. I'm talking about the dining and not the golfing. I leave that part to my Pop. Additionally there is some really super scenic beauty to be had and I am not one for looking around the surrounding areas when I play, I have enough problems dealing with managing the course and my game. The course superintendent installed a new type of grass that I have never previously played on called 'miniverde ' which is a bent grass hybrid that allows the grass to be cut super low and not burn out in the summer heat. Obviously an expensive undertaking, but that shows true commitment to the 27 hole facility. If the wind along the waterway kicks up, you will experience a whole new type of hazard to say the least. Do yourself a favor and play this course if you get the chance.

I booked a round for a bachelor party two months…read morebefore, and confirmed with the employee handling the booking that they would have enough rental clubs for our group. The morning of the golf round, I again called to confirm that there would be enough rentals. When we got there, they then informed us that they had given out all their rentals to other groups already. They were able to scrounge 2 rental sets together. Could've ended in a disaster, but luckily enough members of our party had brought their own clubs. The main issue seems to be a communications issue between the booking company and the actual myrtlewood clubhouse. Renter beware !
