Enjoyable round of golf on a Tuesday with a 1:24 tee time. 4 hour round of golf, no waiting. This course is so unique with large mounds and deep bunkers. The course is lined with trees on all fairways. Lakes and marsh come into play. The course plays long and especially long for us from altitude. The staff was friendly. We would recommending playing it if you need a suggestion.

Square-ish shaped clubhouse, yet beautifully appointed inside. #golf #myrtlebeach

Three tiered tee boxes and double tiered huge greens are the beginning and ending points of a spectacular golf track located just on the outskirts of Myrtle Beach. Each hole is picturesque in rhythm, flow with its natural surroundings, it contours the land perfectly. Holed such as Jigsaw are par fours of ample width and distance that appear safe from the teeing ground, until you approach your next shot and observe what lyes ahead. Well protected greens with bunkers a few feet deep, surrounding your landing area not allowing mis hits to be spared. Shorter par 4's like Double Dare and The Valley of Sin leave the player a difficult decision to make. Swing the driver for a short pitch to the green or layup to yardage that is longer, but the route is safer. The choice can reward or penalize, its up to you. Truth be told, I loved this course. On this day, everything went extremely well during my round. The weather cooperated nicely, no players before nor after me which avoided unnecessary distraction, all lead up to a respectable scorecard.

What an enjoyable round! Players of all skill levels will find that Avocet will challenge and delight them. The course is anything but boring with many risk/reward style holes and a spacious layout that incorporates nature instead of housing developments. So many other courses at Myrtle Beach surround you with houses and condos while you golf, but not Wild Wing Avocet. The greens were in great shape and played true and challenging. Multiple tee box options, so choose wisely. Many multi tiered and undulating greens will test your ability to read the contours. Pace of play was just right and we finished our round in just under four hours. For comparison sake, I also played MBN King's North this week and found Avocet to be both a more challenging and enjoyable round. I probably won't play King's North again, but will definitely be back to Wild Wing Avocet!

Since the time of my original Yelp about the Pine Lakes County Club aka "The Granddaddy", I've…read morevisited down to the Myrtle Beach area about five more times and during these visits have gotten to enjoy several more dining experiences over at the establishment. There hasn't been a bad meal yet, and the service is quite friendly and fast. They set up a large buffet a few times a week and each is themed. So far I've done the Taco night, Stuffed Pork Chop night, Italian night and so on and everything has been fantastic and for a very good price. This is important considering just how much the cost of food has gotten in this current economy. Now I've never been a pork chop person but I do indeed love their stuffed pork chops. That should tell you something. Mary Bell is the woman in charge of the team preparing the dinner service and she's awesome. I've found Mary checking in with patrons in the dining area as well as being one of the folks helping people get their eats on the buffet line with a smile and a quick chat. My folks are there so much that they now seem like old friends. It's a pleasant atmosphere for sure and you will not leave hungry. I'm not lying when I say that I look forward to my next visit to the folks so we can all enjoy the Pine Lakes together again as a family. I'm talking about the dining and not the golfing. I leave that part to my Pop. Things I've learned as well over the time I've been here is that you can get a gift certificate of any denomination so if you have friends or relatives in the region and they show interest in the place you've just crossed one more item off your holiday list. If you're there by all means check them out,

Most bunkers had a lot of water surrounded by mud. Worst course i've played in my 62 years of playing golf in 20 states and 8 countries. Go play elsewhere.

I'm still in shock of just how bad the course conditions were yesterday!…read moreFairways were grown out longer than the rough. Tee boxes were disgustingly dirty with trash overflowing from trash bins, broken tees all over tee box & overgrown to where the ball is buried after teeing up the ball for a driver?! Greens as well were overgrown and super slow and overflowing with un repaired divots. As I'm writing this I'm realizing that this was as bad as playing an about to go bankrupt public course in some middle of nowhere very decapitated town. I've always liked this layout so this is sad to witness. The young kid working pro shop and the girls at the very old and small & cramped Bar were nice in that they smiled but when my friend asked for his points total in his membership, he couldn't tell him and when my other friend poured his Diet Pepsi into the cup he was given, there was a hole that spilled his drink all over the counter, they did not offer him a new Pepsi bottle. I did notice that the old back deck was refurbished/cleaned up, that's something.
