Want to preface this review by mentioning that I am a stellar golfer who fired off an 81. I searched amazing golf courses in the area and this was cited as a top 100 course - there is CLEARLY another Myrtle Beach national. This is a subpar municipal AT BEST! The west course was heavily waterlogged, fairways were uncut the bunkers had no sand and the animals were feral. Giant black squirrels kept running around the tee box during my shot (I still hit the fairway). Last piece I want to mention is the price. I was led to believe that I could play the course for $5 (YOUTH ON THE COURSE) but they did not honor that and we wanted to add a cart fee to which they said they don't do here. Not sure where my $75 went but was hopefully donated to a better cause than this sorry establishment. read more

Foursome enjoyed a Sunday round. We had a 10:44 tee and finished just before 3. The course was in decent condition considering it was February. The layout is challenging with water bordering the fairways or crossing. Definitely would play more strategic if played a 2nd time. Fully stocked pro shop. Grill has hamburgers and French fries and ready made sandwiches. Staff was friendly. Would replay. read more

An enjoyable afternoon at MB National West Course. Perfect course to start the week in Myrtle Beach. Not to difficult with no water to go over or many hazards. Course was in good shape. I'd go back. Starter was a pleasant gentlemen... sorry didn't get his name. read more

Excellent golf course. Well maintained and it's very easy to see why the PGA plays tournaments here. It's not my first time to play here and I surely hope it's not my last. Truly, one of the best courses in the country. read more

The west course has NO grass in fairways and tees. The greens have some but not enough grass and bunkers have little sand. The entire course is burnt to a crisp! Everything is burnt brown. I was extremely disappointed and don't plan to return given the terrible conditions read more

Played WEST yesterday. The worst condition I've EVER seen a MB National course in. The 14 out of 18 tee boxes were patchy and hard. Fairways for the most part patchy & burnt with bare patches everywhere. The only highlight of the course was the greens, they were consistent, smooth and in great shape. BUT the STAFF was 5-STAR except the one barstaff person, she had no personality , angry or maybe just having a horrible day. We were welcomed at Bag Drop with a smile, desk persons were great to interact with and the starter/rangers very helpful and welcoming! Way to OVER PRICED! read more

Came here because the golf reviews were positive. There are 3 - 18 hole courses and so you can imagine the number of golfers showing up in one area to get checked in, registered and sent out to play. It works somewhat efficiently but looks like a wild operation. The course we played was the western course. The starter sent us out 10 minutes late due to an overfull course. The course play took almost 5 hours where it should have been four hours and ten minutes. Course conditions were moderate with few problem areas except trees on every hole and average wide fairways. Average pricing for this 18 hole course lends itself to a decent starting course when coming to Myrtle Beach to golf. Greens were true tee boxes could use some work and cart paths are in need of replacing on most holes. Consider mill and fill course owners read more

Arnold Palmer design. We played the south creek course and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Pro shop & starters helpful, courteous, & friendly. The course was in great shape from tee boxes, traps and green complexes. Layout was challenging but not overly tricky with hidden hazards off the tee. Fairways wide enough to not be severely penalized by an errant tee shot. Highly recommend giving MB National an opportunity. Our only regret was not arriving sooner to warm up hitting balls & spending time on practice areas: putting, chipping & practice bunkers. read more

I played North and South yesterday. The course was immaculate and the pace of play was fast. The starter and the staff were great. I had an awesome time. I would definitely go back. read more

Myrtle Beach National - The photo doesn't do this bunker justice. - Golf Near Me - Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

This is a dated facility. Everything about it is old. From the pro shop to the range to the snack bar. There is no GPS in the carts. If you don't have a yardage book from something like Strackaline you're screwed. The range balls come from a dispenser and it's $5.00 for a small bucket like your local muni. It's hard to navigate the course because there are no signs directing you to the next tee box. Speaking of tee boxes, check out CPG's home course. Good comparison. The course itself had a number of greens that had sandy section where they had replace turf (I'm assuming). We got more than one of them and your balls skips off or them. Stay outta the bunkers. The sand is Terrible unlike a lot of the better courses. It's not fluffy and soft, Hard and compact would be better analogy. The food in the snack bar was worse than the sand. I hand a homemade tuna salad and the bread was soaking wet. The grill was closed (on a Friday) for whatever reason. The course is an old traditional track. Lots of forced carry's and water. It needs to go through a Pine Lake kinda renovation. There are a number of better courses to play. Don't buy into the hype. I wish I would have known and we would have gone elsewhere. read more

Was thrilled with the conditions of the course. Greens were a little slow, but they ran true and held incoming shots just fine. The course was not hard, but not easy either. Decent test. We pulled up to the bag drop right when we were supposed to be teeing off, we got stuck in traffic....and the staff was friendly and accommodating. They had a picture opportunity, took our picture on the first hole then we could buy them for 20 bucks. They also had a par 3, hit the green and get your money back, get it within 8 feet and get 100 bucks cash or hole in one, $10,000 and a video of the shot. Pretty awesome if you ask me. All in all, had a great time. read more

The fairways terrible, no grass, we went off on 10th tee, when we got to 1st tee, two foursomes waiting there with 2 other foursomes a head of them same group, playing a 2-man scramble tournament among themselves. So course let 4 foursomes with young guys ahead of us having there own tournament. Why do this if you advertise double tees, guys ahead of us terrible, could not even hit it 125 yards at times,,, I am local, never again....avoid.......avoid..... Avoid played west course...... read more

I recently played Myrtle Beach North the course is is great shape ... one note my clubs almost got stolen by chance when I went back to me car I saw them in someone cart loading up his clubs and grabbed them I pointed the guys out to the bag drop drop they had New York license plates and the bag drop folks did nothing ... don't know I'd go back unless I had a lock for may bag and clubs or stayed with my clubs the whole time There's great gold in Pawleys Island and its a lot safer there ... read more

We have been coming down to Myrtle off and on for twenty years. The course conditions were very disappointing at King's North.

The course was not in good shape. For the price you pay it's not worth it. The grounds crew could of cared less if we were trying to play. They were a little rude entering areas where our balls were. read more

We loved the West course! The bag drop guys were great and the pro shop staff were awesome. We booked online and they even took us early. The course was in great shape. We had a very nice starter who was helpful and they have a lady with a beverage/snack cart going around all day. I am a fairly new golfer and this course was very kind! I had the best score ever. We can't wait to come back! read more

This review is solely for the King's North Course. I did not get the chance to play the other two courses found at MBN, but based on what I saw of King's North, I would not hesitate to book a round there. We were staying at another nearby golf resort, and figured that it would be fun to play an external course. When I did a fast Google search for courses nearby, this Arnold Palmer course popped up and caught my attention. The images of the course looked outstanding, and some were clearly promo shots, but I was instantly intrigued. We booked a Saturday morning tee time and set the expectations high. We played in late March, and despite coming out of winter and some wet weather all week prior, the course was in fantastic condition. The bunkers were well-maintained, the waste areas where in good shape, the fairways were great (especially considering the time of year) and the greens were outstanding. They didn't "look" as good as they do during prime season, but they rolled fast and true. I loved every minute of it. The carts also had touch screen GPS, which was great. It also had very loud, intermittent commercials. Not great, but that's the price of business, I guess. Standout holes were obviously the 6th (The Gambler) and the 12th (island green par 3). I loved that both nines opened on a par 5--I think it really lets you just get after it with a big drive and a missed shot leaves plenty of time to still grab a par. It also helps that I played them 1-under. Admittedly, I did not attempt the island fairway on the 6th, but two mates did. It certainly was a difficult decision, and I thought about it long and hard (see an associated picture). I also liked the 4th, 7th, and 17th holes. But truly, the entire course was fun, and there were no holes I didn't enjoy. The pace of play was completely acceptable. We got around in 4:15, despite a slightly delayed start. We did not get the chance to hit the range prior, so I cannot comment on that. The beverage cart came around on three separate occasions, which (to me) is acceptable. My cart-mate asked for a bloody Mary at 9:28am, which apparently she could not do because of liquor laws. But beer was a different story, so I go my drink on from the fairway of the 6th hole. Stop judging me, you're not my mother. Lastly, the proshop was well stocked and the staff highly courteous and professional. Overall, the 7 guys in our group loved the course and we will definitely replay it the next time we book a golf trip to Myrtle Beach. read more

Played Kings North for the first time on April 6, 2021.Wow, what a challenge. The staff at the course was great and the starter on the North Course was knowledgeable and friendly. The fairways were great and the sand was very playable. In there a lot. Greens had just been aerated but you could barely tell. The greens seemed slower than you would think for MB and for me, a little hard to get a handle on. Arnie, rest his soul, surely had this on planned for challenge and enjoyment. read more

if i could give this zero stars i would. played west course and it may have been the worst experience ive ever had. fairways are wrecked and feel like concrete, $80 to play and the greens are half rotted. stick to your local muni. read more

Played here today, nice track for the money. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Over all the course is quite nice, challenging layout. Some holes are are a little short but fun. I personal didn't need driver until the 2nd par 5 on the front. Back nine is a little more open therefore you can take out the big stick. I only gave this course a 4 out of 5 due to the greens. June their month to punch the greens down here. I also been hearing this winter the greens at many courses get frost, forcing the course to close for the summer. That being said, most of the greens were nice, but a little long and slow. I'm sure if I came back during fall I would rate it a 5. read more

I really liked this course, especially the Gambler at #6. The course was in really nice shape. I found it challenging at times and then forgiving enough to let me score well as a first timer there. Only a couple areas I thought were missed that would have allowed a 5 star: Pro-shop selection (afterall you're in a tourist town with an attractive course name, people will come there to play and buy a keepsake) bummer that selection was so limited. The driving range was chewed up pretty bad. Would have like to warm up in a little better conditions. All in all, I had a great time at MBN - King's North read more

Not a very good course, pretty bad shape and the greens were very inconsistent. They didn't have any local rates and felt very over charged for the shape of the course. Would not recommend. read more

On arrival at Myrtle Beach National, we found our booking agent, not associated with Myrtle Beach National, had not properly confirmed our tee times for the next four days. The staff stepped in and upgraded our course to King's North and told us to stop in after our round. On returning, we found the staff had taken care of our remaining reservations with only the slightest of tee times changes. The course was in excellent shape and the service was phenomenal. Thanks to all. read more

Although just a small street or strip of forest lands, this is sure worth the small drive. A picture is definitely worth 1000 words and I'm glad I could share some for all of you today and hopefully convince you to come and see this beautiful place. read more

Played the Kings North course on 1-11-18, What a course. Beautiful conditions even though it was wet. Greens ran true and fast. Highly recommend playing the North course. Clubhouse was magnificent with all of Arnie's trophies, clubs and memorabilia. read more

Really solid course. I was slightly disappointed at the greens. They were infested with divots that made longer shots impossible. I had a 15 footer heading in, when at around 3 feet my ball hit a brown divot and ruined the shot. Otherwise as an amateur golfer i had a great time. The beer and snack carts come around just frequently enough that it didnt ruin my game :-) I played west, and would come back if i found myself in myrtle again on vacation. read more

Great facility with multiple courses. I recently played Kings north which is one of my favorites. Got a great deal with my MB passport. Greens were tricky, Will play every time I visit MB! read more

Good course where you have plenty of holes to score on. Most of the par 5 were much shorter than your typical par 5. Fairways weren't to narrow so you don't have to worry if your ball tends to stray. A lot of pine trees tho so if you do miss a shot, it can make for an interesting next shot. read more

Been playing Kings North since 2005 played today June 7,2021 fairways are terrible no grass tee boxes are terrible no grass $75 they are way out of line for the condition terrible never again will I play there read more

I played the Kings North Course and while its in great shape, this is one very difficult and challenging golf course. Designed by Arnold Palmer, the course is sounded by water (practically every hole) with sand traps everywhere. Very tight off the tee, narrow fairways, water and sand traps all over, but huge and fast greens. Finally the place is basically for the retirement set, with every player and employee over 60. The course ate me alive and I'll not go back to play it again. Thanks but no thanks. read more

love golfing at Myrtlewood. I have golfed at at Kings north which is excellent. Plenty of risk reward shots, the island green par 3, and the last hole with a billion sand traps are wonderful. This year we played the south creek course. Much tighter, but shorter. Play it smart and use your hybrids and irons off the tee. You approach shots are what matter on this course. The conditions are always excellent and it probably has one of the best club houses in Myrtle. read more

Have golfed here many times and I'm just not a fan. Usually I'm on a package trip set up by others, so I don't get a choice in course selection. If I did, I would never choose this complex. It's crowded, slow and the courses are tricked up. With this many courses all tied up with one clubhouse, service is not good. Rest rooms are not big enough and there is always a line to use the men's room. Prices in the clubhouse for golf gear are obscenely high. read more

Played King's North on Oct 6, and after 90 minutes to play 4.5 holes, we had to walk off. The Pro shop would only issue a 9 hole "rain check" since we teed off on 4. Despite 3 attempts to call the pro shop while on the course (no answers as they said all their systems were down when we checked in), and 3 complaints to MBN, nothing was done nor did we every get a response to our emails. Horrible service for such an expensive course. read more

South Creek is a nice course. Very playable and like all the MBN courses it is in great shape. The starters were a little grouchy, but they did have their hands full. I think they were struggling with a French Canadian group in front of us. Not a long course, but plenty of bunkers and a bit narrow. Don't hesitate to include this course in your package. read more

Great course and great staff. Loved the layout of King's North, tons of water to challenger any level of golfer. Club house was nice. The only 2 reasons to not give it 5 stars is that the greens were not in the best shape. It is the end of October, so that maybe part of it, but the perfect fast greens I've read about weren't there. They certainly were acceptable, and didn't have any bare spots. Overall loved the golf course and would highly recommend! read more

Played behind a fivesome all day. Called the pro shop on hole two and nothing was done. Then a smart ass cart boy ruined the day. Terrible service. Plenty of better places that want to take care of you that you don't need to waste time here read more

I am a transplant from Maryland, (Bless My Heart,,LOL), but in all seriousness all 3 of the courses here are challenging but fair. The courses are very well maintained and the staff is probably the nicest on the strand. The practice facility there is excellent, 2 putting greens, sand trap practice facility and very nice driving range, exception being grass hitting surfaces on practice range turn in to sand hitting surfaces very quickly , year after year. However, other than that flaw, I cannot take away one star , because the rest of this complex is "5 Star". I live closer to other good courses in Myrtle, but the little extra drive is worth it. It just feels like home here. read more

Slow play, marshalls could have cared less, course was okay but not worth the top dollar you pay in MB, had to pay for range balls, hit off of the mats and the carts had no GPS so you were always guessing on where to hit tee shots.
