They called me when they were 45 minutes away and arrived promptly. When they arrived, they were organized, professional, and fast. With 3 guys, it took under 2 hours to unload a 15 foot U-Haul. My final total plus processing fee was actually lower than quote range they gave me. The best bit: my front door was sliiiiiiightly too small to fit my couch through. I was mentally over everything to do with moving at that point and was going to say we could put it back on the truck and donate it. But what did the Old City guys do? They tried to take it through the window, which was also slightly too small! They had to disassemble the window, bring my couch in, then put the window back together! I'm honestly still impressed at the dedication. Other stuff: They responded to my quote request through their website in less than 1.5 hours. Their email communications were very thorough about guidelines and policies, which I appreciated a lot during a hectic move.

They're incredibly quick with it, just make sure everything is packed and ready to go when they show up. They also did a good job of providing information up front to prepare me for the move itself and give me an estimate of costs. All of my stuff arrived at my new place, and none of it was damaged. That's a big plus. The two guys who helped me move were a pleasure to work with, and they worked quickly and efficiently. 2 relatively minor issues kept me from giving them 5 stars. Issue 1) One of the movers tried to pile a bunch of boxes (most of which said fragile) on a handcart. The other mover cautioned him about stacking too high, and the guy just laughed it off. As he started to push the cart, the boxes almost went over. I had to throw my bodyweight against the boxes to keep them upright until he could fix the imbalance. It was a rookie mistake that put my stuff at risk. Issue 2) In emails before the move, Suburban Solutions said they'd arrive at my house between 1:30-2:30 pm. On the day of the move, I got a call at 8 am saying they were an hour away. We were able to get everything done despite the early arrival, but it added a bit of stress to the move. I would use Suburban Solutions again for a future move.

If the job was something they didn't/couldn't do, the least they could do is tell you instead of ignoring you. Nate sent me numbers and said everything had to be packed up and ready to go for his team. I asked if they could do one thing - wrap my furniture in blankets - and he answered "no, it's our policy not to wrap the furniture with pads prior to putting them in the truck, as it makes it very difficult to carry the items. I apologize that we won't be able to meet your specific needs and we will not be able to move you." I emailed him back, said I'd be OK with that (even though it wasn't ideal for me), and I haven't heard back. This was 4 days ago. Being a business owner myself, this is not how you treat a repeat customer. Based on this poor experience I would not recommend Smooth Moving Pros.

I listened and did what he said, and we came out at the end with very minimal damage. FYI it was the cargo trailer way of moving-you load and unload it yourself. We did the loading end but the Sultans of Schlep sent 3 smart, funny, hipster artists to unload, which they did in 3 hours. I don't plan to move anytime soon but I would hire them again in a minute.

He encouraged me to do some research and give him a call if I had any other questions. Definition of an upstanding man. After doing some research and getting other ridiculously expensive quotes, I called Tom back. Even though the state I moved to wasn't a state they typically provide service to his crew agreed to do it AND it was cheaper than any other option I could find. The crew were nice, prompt, friendly, and reliable. Not a single item was broken. I highly recommend Tom!
