More like the Home Nightmare. I hired them to re-caulk two showers and repair one kitchen cabinet…read moredrawer. They asked me not to use the showers 48 hours in advance, so I did. On the day of the appointment, I waited around until 5pm, when I called to confirm they were still coming. They didn't answer, but called me back about 30 min later to say that there was a mix-up and that they weren't coming. To their credit, they did come the next day, but the technician was very confused about what to caulk in my showers. We watched a youtube video together, then he caulked the showers. I was very nervous at this point, but trusted him. Of course, after waiting 24 more hours to use the showers (and now almost a week of showering at the gym), I find that the shower leaks!!! I contacted the company and they promised to look at it when the drawer technician comes out. Well, that appointment got rescheduled 2 times. I was getting pretty fed up and asked them to commit to a time. That's when Pete, the manager, tells me via email that they cannot ensure that a shower won't leak after they caulk it. At this point, I had no confidence in this company and asked for a refund for the one shower and to cancel the drawer repair. They refunded me $75 out $200 wished me luck disputing the remainder with my credit card company. A total waste of my time and honestly the worst customer service I've experienced in Philly (and that's saying a lot!).

Another contractor came in and made it look worse. Then called Home Hero. Very easy to get an estimate and schedule the services. Maurice came in and made them look beautiful again. This was our first project with Lee and Finest Fix…read more I sent out a quote request via Yelp Projects and Lee got back to me on the same day with their rate of $95/hr + materials. I inquired on how long the job would take based on pictures I sent over, and he replied "an hour max, and it will probably be a couple screws and glue" Communication was OK overall. Lee contacted me on a Monday and asked for the address, email and phone number and asked about my availability for the remainder of the week. I didn't receive a response to my reply, so I had to follow up the next day. We were able to get the job scheduled for the same Friday and his team came to complete the project utilizing a lockbox we provided. I didn't receive any updates during the job, which probably would have helped the surprise of the invoice I later received that was $232.35 when I was expecting something closer to $100 based on our first conversation. Lee did promptly reply and let me know that they thought they would hit a stud but since there was nothing, the job was more complicated as they had to create the support. Overall, still a solid experience and I would still consider using Lee and Finest Fix in the future.

I never know whether to trust rave reviews on Yelp, but in the case of Brian Ludlow, owner of…read moreLudlow's Handyman Services, the five star ratings are spot on accurate. I needed a mailbox installed and had tried for 3 months to schedule various handyman recommended by neighbors. I finally took things into my own hands and searched for a reputable and highly rated handyman on Yelp. There were several options to choose from, but I was immediately drawn to Brian's business because it is locally owned and operated by him. Plus, I really liked his bio. I could tell he was someone who enjoyed his work and was focused on high quality outcomes for customer projects. Brian did not disappoint. Every step of the process was a good one. My first point of contact was through Yelp messaging. That's when I first knew I was on the right track because Brian promptly replied. Moreover, his communication skills were excellent from the get-go. He was able to fit me into his schedule a few days after my request. He arrived on time prepared with what he needed to do the job. Everything went smoothly, especially because Brian and I had reviewed the installation instructions through photos I attached to our Yelp messages. He was able to acquire the remaining needed materials that I did not have on hand. Brian clearly knew what he was doing and got the mailbox installed without any problems. He charged a reasonable amount and was a pleasure to work with. I had a great customer experience. I already have other projects lined up for him. Living in a 200-year-old home is going to provide plenty of opportunities to call on Brian's experience and excellent problem-solving skills.

Despite faithfully following the directions and lots of time on YouTube, I just couldn't get the pieces to fit together perfectly. Found Magic Hands here on Yelp. Spoke to Ricky, explained my situation. The fact that I'm in Lansdowne (not really his core area) and only needed an hour or two of help to get me on track, probably made this a bit less than his most enticing job of the week. Nevertheless, he worked with me to find a time that worked for both of us. He sent his guy Chris, who was terrific - polite, professional, very competent, and - best of all - very patient with me as he showed me how to do the job, what I'd been doing wrong, etc. I still pan to be a DIYer whenever possible, but I've saved Magic Hands' number in my phone, just in case!
