Installed a new laundry sink, and a new storm door. Happy with the outcome for both projects. Quality work at fair prices.

We needed framing, sheetrock, electrical, trim and closets built. Joe was way more responsive than all other contractors and was very reasonable with costs. The price was exactly what he quoted us. (Another contractor was supposed to start before we found Joe and completely ghosted us around the start date.) Lou was the main guy who was here several days and he was great. We felt totally comfortable with him in our home. Our 4 year old son kept asking where Lou was after the project was completed. Lou worked around us when it came to hours that worked best for our family. Our kids love their bedrooms. And our 4 year old son finally sleeps in his own bed. We will be calling Joe when we are ready to remodel our kitchen and bathrooms.

DISASTER. Turn and run. We hired Joe for a large 203K project. We had problems from the very…read morebeginning: he was slow to start, kept changing his mind about the game plan, complained about the fact that he could get no money up front--terms of the 203K that he had of course agreed to--and pressured us to give him significant up-front money to "help him start". He instructed me in June of 2024 to rush to buy materials for a small bathroom that was still mostly unfinished in April of 2025; that kind of thing happened multiple times. His workers were inadequately supervised, and he was difficult to reach, often saying things like I'm at a kid's soccer game, out to dinner with my daughter, etc. The way that 203K's work is that HUD inspectors come out at regular intervals to make sure that adequate work has been done to make a draw from the total budget. Joe did a bunch of stuff merely to look busy to justify the first draw, in August: a slap-dash exterior paint job over crumbling paint that made a mess and did not hold, for instance. Between the first and the second draw, there was slow but meaningful progress--but by then we were 5 months into a job that we were told would take 4-6 months, and nowhere near done. During much of that 3-month interval he had just one guy working on our huge project, an electrician. After the second draw, in late November, he basically just stopped working on the house. We were making double housing payments the whole time, of course, so we panicked. We were almost out of money. After numerous calls and messages failed to get him to pick up the pace, at the urging of our lender, we scheduled a third draw, 3 months after the second one. At that draw, the HUD inspector certified that no work had been done, so no funds would be paid out. That's when we finally worked up the nerve to fire him. It was terrifying, because our lender told us that we would have trouble getting anyone to take on such a large project with only what was left in the budget after Joe depleted it. By the grace of God, we did find one. He swept in and got the job done in about 4 months. We finally moved in almost exactly one year after closing. Of course we had two mortgage payments the whole time. The work could have been finished within 6 months, or close to it, if we had found a great contractor like the one we found after we fired Mr. Depiano. Working with Mr. Depiano was harrowing. We were newbs at this, and therefore easy to fool. DON'T MAKE OUR MISTAKE.

More like the Home Nightmare. I hired them to re-caulk two showers and repair one kitchen cabinet…read moredrawer. They asked me not to use the showers 48 hours in advance, so I did. On the day of the appointment, I waited around until 5pm, when I called to confirm they were still coming. They didn't answer, but called me back about 30 min later to say that there was a mix-up and that they weren't coming. To their credit, they did come the next day, but the technician was very confused about what to caulk in my showers. We watched a youtube video together, then he caulked the showers. I was very nervous at this point, but trusted him. Of course, after waiting 24 more hours to use the showers (and now almost a week of showering at the gym), I find that the shower leaks!!! I contacted the company and they promised to look at it when the drawer technician comes out. Well, that appointment got rescheduled 2 times. I was getting pretty fed up and asked them to commit to a time. That's when Pete, the manager, tells me via email that they cannot ensure that a shower won't leak after they caulk it. At this point, I had no confidence in this company and asked for a refund for the one shower and to cancel the drawer repair. They refunded me $75 out $200 wished me luck disputing the remainder with my credit card company. A total waste of my time and honestly the worst customer service I've experienced in Philly (and that's saying a lot!).

Zephyr and his crew helped my husband and I gut and fully renovate our 2,200 square foot row home…read morein Pennsport, a small neighborhood within the city of Philadelphia. Although he was priced slightly higher than the other contractors we obtained pricing from, the quality of his work was worth the nominal difference in pricing. I am an architect and my husband a user experience designer. We were very selective about who we choose to renovate my first own home. Zephyr worked with my husband and I throughout the entire process. He coordinated all new plumbing and electrical re-wiring (with a licensed plumber and electrician), made suggestions when we were trying to mitigate a fast-paced decision making process, and executed the work on-time and on-budget. Being involved in the trade, I cannot stress enough how difficult it is to find a contractor who is reasonably priced and does the job right. I will be working with Zephyr again on my next project. This particular renovation included the following to give you an idea of the scope of the project: * Refinishing original wood floors * 2 new full bathrooms * Complete replacement of all interior walls and ceilings * New electrical through-out * New plumbing through-out * New roofing * Brick re-pointing * 20 new windows installed * Insulated all exterior walls and roof * New Kitchen

We bought a fixer upper in 2008, and immediately hired a contractor to update our bedroom and bathroom. They burned us, and left us with leaks throughout the house. We ended up finishing the project ourselves, but not aware of some of the leaks and damage left behind. After this experience, we were hesitant to try again, hearing so many other peoples horror stories of their own with contractors. Finally the leaks became too much, and we needed to address them as well as move on with construction of our home. We were referred to Zephyr, and after his recent completion of our kitchen, we have already asked him to put us at the end of his list for our next project. What it will be, we haven't decided yet. But we have a whole house for him to repair, so we have something that needs to be done no matter what the order of repair is. Zephyr is very straightforward, and he is a perfectionist. He will give you advice along the way, and you should listen to him. He ripped out our kitchen, found multiple issues with leaks coming from our bedroom above (where the previous contractors installed french doors improperly), so he addressed that by taking out the doors and installing a new wall with windows. He replaced all our support beams in the kitchen, as well as added support so that we could build out on the 2nd floor. We told him our goals for the house in the long run and he prepared the house for those projects while working on it now. For example, we want to add a bathroom to our bedroom, so while he had the walls ripped open, he planned where the pipes would go and built enough room in that wall so that his next job would be prepped. Zephyr said he would have our kitchen done in 2 months and he delivered. Mitchell Custom Concepts may give you a higher quote than other contractors around, but they are worth every penny. Your project will be done properly, and by people who know what they are doing. Zephyr's whole team is great to work with. Whether Mike or Ian are at your house finishing something up, you can rest assured you are in good hands. Zephyr's vendors he uses for windows, floors, materials are all vetted and you know you will get quality materials/work from anyone he uses. We especially love our floors. Zephyr had his floor guy come in to sand and lacquer our floors, and I am beyond happy with the result. Before Zephyr and his team worked on my home, our basement would flood with 1-3 inches of water during rainstorms. Now, we don't get any standing water at all. Zephyr understands that your house is an investment, and he will address your biggest problems first, then work his way out. With us, he addressed all our leaks before we did any cosmetic work. I live on a pretty nosey South Philly street where all my neighbors watch whats going on with the rest of the neighbors all day long. Well, all I heard from my neighbors was "Your contractor was bringing in big pieces of lumber today. You must be getting a lot done!" "your contractor was here all day working!" and "Those guys working on your house are working hard. You must have hired good people". Yeah, we did hire good people.

Ask them up front for licensing, insurance and if they are registered as electricians, plumbers, etc. The man who says that he is in charge is operating under the identity of another man listed as the business owner. They have different phone numbers and if you catch him off guard he will tell you his real name is either Lewis when his name is William :/ This young man sent out guys to my property that had no idea what they were doing. They tampered with both my electrical and plumbing and I had to have the work assessed by a professional and take pictures and make records of everything for legal reasons. It is very possible that many of these yelp reviews are from family and friends or paid third party. Be very careful who you let in your home. ALWAYS ask for their detailed paperwork and match it up with their driver's license if you have to. Whatever it takes because there is A LOT of fraud out here nowadays. It was more than just the door but the over hang as well. It had fell down and squirrels had made a home :( The gentleman that took the call gave the information to Jim. He is the father and the owner of the company. Jim called and set up a time to come look at the job. When he showed up, he felt like family. Coming in through the back of the house he looked at the work I wanted done. He sat down in my basement and told us what they would do, took pictures of the damage and dictated everything into a recorder about the whole process. We gave him a small deposit toward the job. He gave me a receipt. What I liked about Jim is he let me know what I needed and didn't need and was very upfront about the price. This company never stood us up. Came on time, did a great job. The door is beautiful as well. They even framed out and put up my old wrought iron screen door. They were even thoughtful enough to measure the peep hole to my height (I'm the shorty in the family). We also decided to let We Care do our roof. One of Jim's sons came out and video taped the roof. We looked at the tape and Jim went over the damage with us and gave us our options. WOW! It was nice to see the roof without climbing a ladder LOL! We decided on a 2 coat white Elastomeric Silicone roof because it helps keep the house cooler in the summer. They even treated the skylight. After it was all done they came back to my home and showed us the video of the completed roof and mailed us a copy of video. We Care is not the cheapest company I've come across. but they do quality work, respectful of your time, do follow up calls to make sure you are happy with their work and respectful of your property. This is so rare now adays! I wish they did more types of home improvements besides windows, doors, roofs etc. We Care is a family owned business with Jim (owner) and his 3 sons Justin, Jeff & James that have been in business for a few decades. As you can see, I would highly recommend them.
