First the not so great....I ordered the full slab dinner. Ribs. Comes with 2 sides and corn bread, or just bread, I dont know but we ended up with corn bread. OK so the """side""" of potato salad i kidd you not was stuffed into a 1.25oz sample cup. Literally 2-3 bites. That was the entirety of the """side"""" of the potato salad. The fries were really good. Could have used a bit more. And the corn bread consisted of one(1) singular 2" square of corn bread. Now, 3 people are eating this. So fail... Epically. Now to the better....the ribs were flF#$%ING AMAZING!!!! Big seriously fat meaty juicy tender fall of the bone just by looking at it. 3 people ate 1 slab which, for my family, is a major compliment as any one of us could take out 2/3 of a slab each. But there was so much meat, barely had to chew. Sauced perfectly. Summary. Ribs...best I've had in a restsraunt in pretty much forever minus a place in oaklahoma....sides....failure on every measurable level.....fries, needs more but actually quite good. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere. Food: -Baked beans had no flavor. Honestly tasted like bush baked beans. -broasted potatoes were unfortunately the best thing and even that was not good. The outside of the skin was crispy and I was so excited to eat these at first glance. They were large cuts of potatoes, I expect potato wedges to be smaller because the insides were undercooked. -chicken looked so promising!! But the inside was so greasy and had no flavor. The skin was crisp but the inside of the chicken held ALL the grease. I don't know how you fix that, but I've been to other chicken places and that has not happened. -rolls were dry. I am not a professional baker, but it felt like they used a bread recipe instead of a roll recipe. Dinner rolls need some fat/milk incorporated so they don't dry out in the oven. Service: the cashier was very nice. She kept checking on my order to see if it was ready. We waited an extra 10 mins from when the ETA was. read more

So, I've planned my week around Wishbones hours and planned on ordering chicken and sides for my Christmas dinner. I called them on Thursday and the girl who answered the phone said they close at 8:00 pm, Christmas Eve. So, I called them just now to place an order and that girl told me they closed at 5:00p. WTF! This is not acceptable at all! If you have employees that don't know what time you open and close, I would be hiring people who do know! I bought a medium barrel broasted potato's on Friday February 28th in afternoon it was awful the chicken was dry the grease was old no flavor I couldn't eat broasted potatoes either because grease was bad they must not change the filter! It was a waste of 40 dollars don't know what happened to this place it used to be good there were 2 young kids working that day one cooking had ear pods in his ears the time they say it will be done is always a 45 minutes later. Food tasted good but I feel we we're gypped with the chicken we received. I took pictures with the pieces next to a ruler so you could see how small the wings were -- it's ridiculous they are selling these as a piece of chicken, at over $1 each! We received a drumstick without coating, skin or meat on the bone -' almost as of someone ate the top off and threw it in the box. A customer should NEVER receive a piece like this!! This was my first time into Wishbone Broasted Chicken Restaurant in Allen Park, Mi. I can see what all the hubbub is about in this cozy, famous little restaurant in Allen Park. If you are looking for that down-home cooking that just puts a smile on your face. This is the place to come. I walked up to the counter to place an order, and as it happened, the owner Nicole was working. She greeted me with a smile as large as can be and asked me what she could get for me. She gave me choices and let me work through what my taste buds were desiring. After ordering and waiting just a few minutes for my food. I observed the staff and owner preparing food for the other customers with so much care it reminded me when my mother used to say " if you make it with love, it tastes so much better". I even overheard Nicole complementing her staff telling them how awesome the food looked. It was so refreshing to go into a restaurant where the staff cares so much about the quality and presentation of the food and to see how they show they care about their customers as well. I love service with a smile! Btw- the Chicken was absolutely amazing. Portion size was excellent and value for $ was right on! I will be returning to Wishbones and telling all my friends. It says on the wall of this restaurant "established in 1957". Well this is not just an ole fashion place that has lost its cachet. It's seems the owners have re-established Wishbones as the trusted "go to" restaurant as they give attention to the personal touches that seem to be lost these days in our dining out experiences. It wasn't that long ago that I had fried chicken, and sure enough I was craving it again. I learned of this establishment from someone I follow on Instagram. I read the previous reviews and I get the impression that this restaurant has seen better days. I never judge a movie by it's Rotten Tomatoes score, but only after I see it myself. So I took a trip to Allen Park to try this famous broasted chicken. I was fortunate enough to place an order before they closed (their hours were shortened due to recent events so I rushed to get there). Thankfully I was able to arrive on time, and I will say this restaurant has a certain "charm" to it that I feel one would appreciate if they grew up eating here. It definitely could use a new coat of paint (metaphorically speaking), but really you don't come to these kind of places for the decor, but for the food. I ordered 6 pieces of fried chicken ala cart, and they were making it as I got there, so I knew it would be fresh. There were only two employees working the entire place frantically trying to complete their remaining orders so I appreciated their hard work. When I brought it home, the chicken was the perfect temperature to dig in. The actual meat was quite flavorful, and I enjoyed the crunchy texture of the skin even though I felt like it could use a little more seasoning to it. Fyi the last bad review was from 2021 so I would give this place a try or another try. The chicken was good but the sides were awsome! The potato salad was amazing I think I've only had better from a bbq joint in Texas. The mac and cheese was really good I've only had better from one place in Michigan. The coleslaw tasted good but the cabbage was chopped to fine so it kind of had the consistency of apple sauce but not bad. Overall the food was phenomenal especially if compared to other similar restaurants in the area. read more

I grew up in Allen Park and this was the best chicken I ever had. I have moved but willI still order wishbone chicken because of its quality and taste . The new owners have the recipe down pat. It was delicious. There is another place in Northville that people would recommend but I feel Wishbone has the best hands down. I highly recommend this place for carry out. read more

My aunt and I used to come in here a lot back in the 1990's. Unfortunately, she passed away in 1995 and I don't get back to this neighborhood very often. Their broasted chicken is good and is their specialty. I used to get their Wishbone Steak Sandwich, but there has been a change of ownership since I used to come here as a kid, and they took it off the menu. I'm a little bummed about that. Overall, this is a decent restaurant for what they offer. It's good for parties and you can order a lot of chicken in advance and pick it up to bring where you're going. My aunt would do this sometimes for family picnics because she lived right in the area. read more

I like Wishbone and their chicken ad normally order for a family. Why I am disappointed is that on their online menu, it says you can purchase chicken a la carte or as a meal. My niece only likes drumsticks (which is why I am ordering a smaller order). When I asked to purchase 4 of them, I was told they only sell drumsticks with thighs and legs. However, no where on their menu does it state this stipulation. Looks like I'll be going back to KFC or Chicken Shack, as they will sell chicken a la carte they way I ask. read more

Ordered a $25 bucket of chicken with 2 sides. Everybody made a plate and upon biting into Mac & Cheese it was iced cold. Yuck! The Broasted potatoes were dry and flavorless. Chicken was greasy and flavorless. Called the restaurant to ask about the Mac & Cheese. I was told it is made on Friday's, packaged and refrigerated. The girl in the phone also told me she personally reheated ours. I explained she needed to bump the time up on the microwave. I wish I had asked her what day the chicken and potatoes are made. I cannot believe there is not a review for Wish Bone yet!!!! This place has some of the best broasted chicken ever. I try to avoid eating here too often due to the weight gain that would ensue if I allowed myself to indulge in this chicken whenever I wanted. The restaurant is a long diner, typical diner type crowd... just more of it. Around dinner the place fills up pretty quickly, and the noise level increases every 20 minutes after 5 oclock. They all come in for this amazing chicken which is being turned out non-stop on 2 preasure cookers behind the counter. It is family owned, and if I am not mistaken half of the family hangs out in the resaurant. The side dishes are just normal, nothing really stood out too much. The bread pudding is above average, and I had never had a broasted potato before. With niche places you should be going there for their specialty anyways so I wasn't expecting much. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars based on the chicken alone is because they lack hot sauce... what kind of chicken joint doesn't have hot sauce? read more

Great lunch special, great soups and desserts. Had 6 Whole Wings Spicy really good, a big ass Burger called BIG JOHN holy Wows a double damn Angus patty with Bacon, Mushrooms, Grilled Onions and 2 Cheese American n Swiss OMG folks for a little over 7 bucks a 2/3 pounds Buger will fill your belly with Love. Outrageous delicious lunch Wishbone Salad a version of Greek with marinated Chicken on top only 6 bucks comes with drink n pita bread , plenty to share. I called to place my order and they told me it would be 20 minutes. I showed up after 20 minutes, paid for my order only to sit there for another 30 minutes. I finally was able to get someone to come to the cash register (they were all in the back of the restaurant) and asked them if they were going to make my order. I saw many people come in and leave with their order but had to wait forever for mine. They never even offered to give me a discount because of their screw up. I will never go there again. read more

I called them but all they said was sorry and then hung up on me. I'm not seeing where the negative reviews are coming from, but maybe it's because we ordered take out? I don't do chicken on the bone but everyone else loved it. The strips were amazing, too. Potatoes... great. Everything came hot. We ordered out for a family day and brought home. It was between Wish Bone and KFC... so glad we chose Wish Bone.
