Chicken, shack potatoes, roll, and slaw. Great lunch

Old building caught my eye on the way to the airport. Why not? Fried chicken 4 stars, coleslaw 3 stars, shack potatoes 5 stars - potatoes cut in cubes, roasted and serviced in a butter sauce. Yum. The four pieces of chicken - the breast was done perfectly, the thigh and leg a little overdone and the wing overdone. The breading I found excellent, both texture and flavor, and not overly salty. If I lived nearby I would eat every month or so.

I just read my last review of this place. It was in 2014. The last sentences read "Would I return? probably. Would i hurry nack? Probably not. Well, its 4 years later. Lmao. I just now came back! I really wanted chicken, my BH said Chicken Shack? So we stopped in. JUST FOR THE POTATOES. Still don't care for the coleslaw. Chickens still good. My previous opinions still stand. However, it was much cleaner than i remember. They have drink bags. A new digital menu board. And a new print menu. Service was prompt and pleasant. Mushrooms are still a winner!!!

Only private owned Chicken Shack we know of for decades. All corporate locations Suck badly. This place has a great owner and crew that care's about the customers. They even bring your meal to your table, how cool is that, Free water cup too unlike Riverview location. Spotless clean restrooms unlike Gibraltar location won't let you use them. Finally got to try the new Spicy Chicken Sandwich WOWED a real winner. Mega Fillet drenched in batter freshly deep fried, it hangs out both sides of the bun. Creamy Slaw n Pickles the lunch special outstanding deal until 4 pm everyday. For only 10 bucks n change you get the Sandwich, Shack Taters smothered with Butter, Coleslaw and a Fountain drink w free refill. Best deal around town by this local chain. She had the Chicken Breast Lunch special for a win. Folks visit this location for the best food and service . #chickenshack @sobeckschickenshack #spicychickensandwich #shackpotatoes #chickenbreast #coleslaw #lowprices #lunchspecial #downriverfriendseat

Ladies and Gentlemen, you have now entered the best chicken shack establishment in all of Metro Detroit. Whenever the mood hits and a craving for boasted chicken arises, this is the first that come to mind. It's the closest proximity, plus it has the best quality as far as I'm concerned. There's this experiment you can do for its level of authenticity,, you buy a box of chicken. Make sure it's dark meat, because I am a firm believer that white meat is for Americans with no tastebuds. It's like setting yourself up for failure. Now, take a big bite out of a leg or a thigh,, and let the euphoria kick in. The chicken is that good... the quality, the crispness and the way it's seasoned is beyond all other chicken shacks. Trust me when I tell you this, because this spot has been here longer than any other chicken shacks in Metro Detroit. It has stood the test of time and will keep standing long after that as well. It's not just about the chicken, they're have side dishes are out of this world. I, in fact, am a big fan of their boasted potatos. Make sure you take you hold on to something sturdy because these man nuggets of potatoes are smothered in butter. Also there's their fried mushrooms, it's extremely addicting and it goes hella well with any alcoholic beverage. Life is too short to be eating mediocre chicken parts. Weeeeeeeeee

The only improvement I can suggest is toast the buns more, to a nice almost crisp golden brown. The juices of the meat, peppers and mushrooms really soaked the buns to the point that we finished with a knife and fork. The garlic parm wings are tasty, plump and are served hot. The dining room was mostly empty and mostly clean. Slow ... this is a good thing because food is cooked to order and served hot. Will I return? Delray BBQ - What a wonderful surprise!…read more It has been a long time since my last visit downtown and I was craving Motz sliders, but as I got closer, I saw that Motz had closed early. Damn! Then I noticed the Delray BBQ trailer in the parking lot. WTH? I was in a hurry and looking for something quick and they were here, and I was here. They had BBQ. I had money. Sure, why not ... The menu yesterday was considerably limited to what is posted here: - pulled pork - pulled chicken - rib tips - selection of desserts $12 is a rather high price point for chicken and pork sandwiches from a food trailer, but the clock was ticking and what the heck ... I ordered the pulled chicken sandwich. The chicken was wonderful; cooked well done, but not over cooked, not dry and not sauced. The portion was very generous and cascaded far off the bun. The bun; I forgot to ask which bakery makes that wonderful bun. I will admit to being worried that only one sauce was available. It is a thin sauce that flows easily. A bit sweet and a hint of tang (acid). The order included a small scoop of Mac & Cheese. It is of the firm variety, my favorite. Not creamy, nor a gelatinous glob. If they put a bit of bacon or lobster in it, I would order it for a meal. I also order a small cup of the coleslaw ($1) and added it to the sandwich. A nice complement of texture for the sandwich. It is wet, not creamy - fine by me. The two guys working the food trailer are friendly and helpful. After finishing my lunch I inquired about wet-naps to clean my fingers and they provided. The limited menu was the only disappointment. I would have loved a combination plate of the usual suspects found at a BBQ joint. The limited menu was aimed at SW Detroit lunch crowd. The full menu is available at other venues - check Facebook, their webpage or call.

He had barbecued shrimp this time. Excellent bbq sauce. His sides of choice were really tasty vodka sauced pasta and just okay cheesy potatoes. I went with the piccata style perch which had great flavor, a perfectly done huge baked potato and a wreck of the loaded up brussels. The Brussels may do it for some but they were a no bueno flavor mess to me. Yikes. When I was nearly finished I got a big old bite of bone in my perch. The manager stopped by and was appropriately concerned, super apologetic. Offered us all kinds of freebies. I assured her it was not necessary. I truly enjoyed my meal there. Unfortunately we only bought my wife a soft drink and our bill was $117 and the raffle tickets are every $40 spent so we only received two of them for three of us. Nyla was great as I could not find pepper on the sauce bar to season our hangar steaks. Nyla went into the kitchen and grabbed some for me, as well as adding an equal amount of salt to the sauce bowl as I wanted both for seasoning the meat. Lina, at the front desk, helped out with questions about the raffle tickets, the snow crab legs free special on April 15 their one year anniversary of the Taylor location being open. Gwen was great and kept us in clean grills, brought extra butter for our hangar steaks as requested, and kept our pitcher of water filled. She had two mishaps right beside our table. First she accidentally spilled a cup of ice for us ( her tray had a LOT on it ). Later replacing it she dropped a second cup of ice water next to me as well. Gwen said she bragged to a coworker she had not dropped anything for a long time after the first mishap recently. I regaled her about when I bragged I never spilled my giant 64 ounce Speedway cup wedged between my front seats to a coworker. That day and the following two days it spilled three times. I told her it was GOD's humor to our pridefulness. So when she spilled the second cup, I managed to refrain from saying she was due one more spill. I hope she does not have a third spill today nor soon. Anyway, the food is top notch as always! This is our home KPOT! Anqi is great as always too.

BURN IN HELL Or at…read moreleast while attached to a hearse. The man that designed this custom built bar and grill does just that at least once a year when he treks with the trailer to Hell, Michigan with his "open casket" grill. The grill, which was built over the course of 80 to 100 hours at The TechShop of Allen Park, is made out of a modified casket. The shell of the casket is mounted to a portable tow-behind trailer, so it draws onlookers when being transported behind a hearse, but with no visible tie-downs. (Video of the creator talking about the grill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0RXI8DHWgo) It contains a four-burner stainless steel grill that boasts 48,000 Btu of power. It boasts 496 square inches of cooking space, with electronic ignition and porcelain-coated, heavy-gauge wire cooking grates and a 20-pound propane tank. The other half of the casket includes a marine style waterproof radio and a 27-gallon cooler with built-in drainage features. Of course, the grill wouldn't be complete without tools that all have "Open Casket Bar and Grill" laser etched into their handles, and custom-made salt and pepper shakers. Why a hearse? Because the creator, Steven Frye, is also the founder of the Nightmare Cruisers Hearse Club for car enthusiasts. The club boasts more than 120 members, mostly from around Michigan, though some join from across the country. "We like to get together and do the cruises," Frey said. "When we do these cruises, we like to hang out with our friends, old friends and new friends. Anyone that has a hearse is welcome to join us, even if you are just a hearse enthusiast." Frey first bought his hearse to promote a product, "Dr. Frybrain's Pumpkin Embalmer," though most people thought it was just a name for his hearse, rather than an actual product. After a couple of years of explaining the product on the car, Frey grew tired of answering questions and instead just painted over the advertising. For a time, the club also held the record for most hearses assembled in a parade in 2011. Frey said the rule for any gathering of cars is that is has to be a parade; otherwise, the record would be held by the manufacturer. "We held the record for about 11 months," he said. "Then a group in the Netherlands broke the record. Almost all of them were 'in the business,' though. Only three of our hearses were owned by funeral homes.
