Round House BBQ is somewhat of a head scratcher for me. I came in wanting some good ole' BBQ, but when I saw what I was getting into I was a bit skeptical. This place is not your typical BBQ joint and has an atmosphere analogous to a classic chain restaurant such as Applebee's or Chili's (but with a BBQ spin). The biggest red flag for me was this large worn down menu with a lot of food options that seemed to overwhelm me. Usually when I see that in a restaurant it means that the quality of the food is not very good or focused. It also took me a little while to get my order in as my server wasn't alerted of my presence so I waited a few minutes to even get my drink. First impressions aside I played it safe with some smoked wings (naked) and a house salad with brisket as I felt this would give me a good idea of the type of food they offered. You can tell a lot about a restaurant by the way they prepare wings and the freshness of their raw vegetables. In all honesty, the wings were almost perfect. Golden crispy on the outside, while warm and tender on the inside. They also did have a mild smokey flavor to them which paired perfectly with their 5 BBQ sauces that I enjoyed all around. The salad was generous in its portion size and I absolutely love their Thousand Island and Ranch dressing which probably weren't made in-house but still great with pretty much anything. I am not a fan of white onions for salads and much prefer red onions, but if they sliced it better I would have forgiven it. The brisket was a little dry, but if I ordered this salad without the wings I would have been more than satisfied with my meal. If you know what you're getting into and don't have high expectations this is a good place to eat. There are however way better BBQ options in metro Detroit for sure. I wanted to give this place a 3.5/5 if I could, but I'll be generous and round it up to 4. read more

I guess where experiencing how people truly feel today. I've been going to this restaurant for years for x-mas parties, Birthday parties etc. Orderd 80 wings asked them to put 40 in each container, asked for them to be dipped in barbque sauce. It clearly states this on the receipt. Get there not separated I asked would it be a problem. Staffer said no. I watched the guy toss my chicken in the pan with an attitude. Then I notice there's no sauce on them. I was told the sauce comes on the side. The guy she asked to dip them walks away. She said sorry but the owner said that's how it comes. I told her I just placed the same order last weds. I thanked her and left. I was polite , gave a tip. I guess everywhere you go there's so much anger. when we first got here this place looked really cool, we sat outdoors which was nice and quiet, barely anyone here really, I have to clear up a confusion, Yelp says this place closes at 8pm, it does not, they close at 9pm, so you got an extra hour folks. Your welcome. We ordered drinks, I had a Killians and she had a mixed drink called "Long Erie Island" which was very boozy. We were recommended the Special Platter for 2 by a friend of the family so we decided to order it. It comes with 3 sides of your choice (which by the way I recommend you get your own Mac N Cheese cause you won't stop eating it & you won't share it either), Pulled Pork, Beef Brisket, St Louis Ribs, 1/2 BBQ Chicken, smoked sausage. This food was VERY delicious, everything was juicy, tender and just cooked to perfection, this place has great food, a great environment and a great staff. They also make their own BarBecue Sauce which is outstanding. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place and this food and I will DEFINITELY be coming back here soon. read more

Stopped in for lunch a couple of days ago. Nice little place. And it is round. Sam was our server and she did a great job. We started with the pretzel sticks. 3 large pretzels with a nice serving of house made cheese sauce. They were okay, nothing special. Also ordered a cup of beef brisket barley soup, a mushroom swiss melt sandwich, and the loaded baked potato boats with pulled pork. The soup was fantastic. Brisket was very tender and the veggies were not mushy. The sandwich was very good and a pretty decent size. The potato boats were also good. The tater part was a little dry but with the cheese, bacon, and sour cream added it was a pretty tasty dish. I did not even think about adding any sauce to it as I forgot so I cannot comment on them. Overall a good meal but it was along drive so I can say if you are in the area, give this place try. read more

It's the closest BBQ place to us and we really like it. Even for non bbq menu options the food I've had there is delicious! I just had the Turkey Reuben but we usually get a larger sampler style meal with our three boys. The service is always good and the staff is friendly. It's a laid back environment so don't worry about dress code. They also have cool mini rooms outdoors (think modern mini cabin) for small parties and special events. read more

I came here with 2 other people, we all ordered a bloody mary and a water for drinks. The bloody marys took 15 minutes to arrive at our table and we had to ask for the waters twice. It happens. Once I finally got the drink, it was delicious. The perfect amount of spice. We were sat on the side that is practically inside of the kitchen and it was also next to the door the servers are constantly going in/out of for the little houses people were dining in outside. So it was freezing considering it was 22 degrees here today. The nachos were pretty good, the sauce on them was very delicious. The jalapeño cornbread was very good and a must have. Grabbed a relaxing lunch on the patio here today. Wanted a half slab of baby back ribs, but they no longer serve those. So, I got a one-third slab of St. Louis ribs with mashed potatoes and gravy, Texas toast, and corn on the cob. Ribs were great, and the mashed potatoes and Texas toast were very good. However, the corn on the cob was ice cold. I let the server know, and she told me that it is always cold. Why would you not have told me that when I ordered? We didn't wait to be seated, fast service. The ribs and chicken weren't super salty like famous Dave's is sometimes. They don't over load it with sauce, I like it a lot more. The meat had good flavor and didn't seem over cooked or tough. Cole slaw was kind of watery. Onion rings were crunchy and good. The plastic dishes are a little different but they have really good food and prices so I don't care about the type of plates. read more

The ribs were delicious! We ordered the full slab of round house ribs ("largest baby back ribs" they could find). They were extremely tender, super meaty, and had tons of flavor. **UPDATED REVIEW** After months of ordering lunch or dinner here I wrote a review about how nice the portions were at this place, well apparently they read it and decided to cut the size of the pulled pork included in meals by half and gotten smaller chicken breasts, I know because I measure my portions like many people do now. So now for $20 I can barely feed myself instead of being able to share with my family. I'd rather drive to Boston market and pay $9 for the same sized meal with better bread. Summary, we probably won't be back here much, it's super shady to cut portion size that much with no warning or price change. Especially right now, it feels like I'm being stolen from when I can least afford it. You're not going to tell me that for 3+ months, 2-3 times a week, the guy packing our meal got it wrong. I ordered a meal for two yesterday. The brisket was pretty good. The smoked sausage is always on par. The ribs were disgusting and burnt to crap. I wouldn't even feed them to my dog and unfortunately ribs is what I wanted the meal for Good I didn't have a full slab of that garbage for the amount of money that was spent it was subpar at best will definitely be getting ribs somewhere else in the future and I know they do carry out because you don't know how s****y they are until you get home. last time I ordered carry out from there they tried to not give me one of my meats. We ordered a platter so we could try a little of everything and everything was SO DRY. So dry. I am not picky and I really could care less about whether barbecue is "real" or not, so for me to say it's dry and was basically without any seasoning at all - that's saying something. My son got macaroni and cheese and it was extremely dry, the cheese on top was hard and cold and the middle of the bowl was lukewarm...same thing with his chicken tenders. server was nice and efficient, on top of anything we needed and refilled our drinks before we even had to ask - both stars are for. My son had to go to the bathroom and as we walked past the kitchen, which is open, I saw why everything was so dry. Everything, including the sides, is just sitting in warmers while the two cooks were chatting about their personal lives while another scooped lukewarm, dry mac and cheese onto another poor kid's plate. I live in Texas and this place has the best Brisket in the country in my opinion. Brisket and eggs is my favorite. I love it. I could eat it every day. The brisket is beautiful and has an intense red smoke ring. It is tender without falling apart and always has a great taste. It is never bland or over spiced. I have never added sauce because it has never been needed. I can't visit Trenton without eating here. It is so good. read more

Me and my boyfriend have decided to take it upon ourselves to try different bbq places in and around the area and this was our first stop. We decided on the bbq platter for 2 which was around 30 dollars. It came with ribs, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, and a half a chicken. We also got two appetizers we got the loaded tater tots and the rib tips (not really what they called it but basically what they were). The apps where pretty good the ribs where a great start to out meal the tots where good but the ribs kind of stole the show. The main course came with three sides and we ended up getting jalapeno cornbread, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes and gravy. The ribs and pulled pork was fenominal in my opinion my BF really enjoyed the chicken and the sausage. I liked the brisket but I felt it was a little bland and pailed in comparison of the other meats represented on the platter. The sides where all really good the corn bread is what really stood out for both of us though. The corn bread was moist and delicious and the jalapeno flavor was there but it was very slight that added a nice small kick to it. Our server was very nice and attentive to our needs and was quick to add her input on what she recommended when we where ordering and that's something I personally like to see especially since it was our first time there.
