Adequate cheese and bread on top. Unique flavor; a hit. Jamaican something or other Salmon steak with crunchy fresh green beans and pineapple (i think) infused white rice. Emphatic yes. Michigan Cherry Salad looks yummy and plentiful. Staff: super welcoming, attentive and friendly. I enjoyed it a lot. The location is surprising because it's inside what I think is the Humbug Marina. They have a lovely setting but it can get VERY loud inside. We've been here 3 times and only once was it quiet enough to hear my companion's conversations. (1pm Sunday). The perch dinner was good but getting vegetables instead of fries and a salad instead of coleslaw incurred two up charge too bad they couldn't have interchangeable sides. The Rueben and BBQ sandwiches were plentiful and enjoyed by my in laws fries were an additional cost, but the sweet potato waffle fries were some of the best I've ever tasted. We came here for our monthly book club with our group of girls and it so happened to be trivia night. We put our names in and quickly realized this place was packed with people just to play trivia. This is a bar/restaurant located on the waterfront in Gibraltar MI. They cater to the locals and boaters, who can park right next to the bar as it is built right next to a large dock with numerous slips available for boats to park but they do have a parking lot for those of us who drove to it. They were able to accommodate our large group of 9 as we came in about 30 minutes prior to the kitchen closing. Our food was served very quickly but it didn't look rushed or uncooked. I ordered the BBQ Pulled Pork handheld that came with fries. It was good - they add on pickled onions which gave it a unique flavor with the BBQ pork. The food is fairly typical fare for a bar but it was fresh and tasty. The servers are really good - they get to business but sure have fun with you while doing their job. That's what gives this place a 4 star rating for me. read more

Beautiful scenery, but the food was not hitting the way I wanted it too. The salmon I ordered was ok, I could've did without the brown sugar. The crab cake had a weird taste to it. My husband did not care for the jerk dish he had. We have visited tons of waterfront restaurants and this is not one that I'd place on the top of my list food wise. The service I can say was amazing! I ordered an iced tea that was unsweetened and discovered no sugar on the table. I had to wait ten minutes for someone to bring food to ask for sugar. Humbug Marina is home to a jewel of a restaurant with great food and beautiful ambience right on the mouth of the bay leading to Lake Erie. The service was excellent and choices of entrée delicious. JP's is almost a hidden gem. Located in the marina, it's easy to miss this place but well worth the effort to find it. Hubby and I enjoyed our food and we look forward to dining here again in the summer when we can sit outside. In terms of food, we started with onion rings the size of my head (see photo). 8 of those massive things along with some yummy sauce. A great appetizer to share with a few people! Or get the onion rings as your side. Burgers for both of us today. Hubby's burger came with seasoned potatoes which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. Although we enjoyed our burgers I saw lots of other good looking foods come from the kitchen, so I will try something else next time. If you are in the area, I recommend dining here. I love this place! I was here several times when I was in town visiting family and friends. Each time I dined outdoors. The views of the water and fresh air make it a fun, relaxing experience. My favorite meal is the cod either blackened or piccata style with artichokes, capers and tomatoes in a delicious sauce. I ordered the huge onion rings and their side salad as sides. Everything was delicious. All of their drinks have good alcohol pours and are very tasty. Service was excellent too. I can't wait to return when I'm back in town. read more

Most of the food is delicious. But a couple things to point out is .... If you order a salad, 9 times out of 10 it will arrive with your meal. They don't seem to get that a salad comes before your main course. The hush puppies were great under the previous owner but now they are very doughy, not good at all. Had to be the biggest mushrooms any of us had ever had- and they were good! For our entrees, several of us got the fish and chips which was also quite good (fried food, anyone?) as they have both perch and cod. There were burgers for some, and chicken tenders and mac and cheese for the kids. All in all a pretty good showing for our group! And the drinks were well poured as well. Plenty of parking in the lot and in the summer months, I was told they have a tie up dock for your boat if you are headed down the river. All I know is I need to get back there in the Summer months! Plastic cups were filthy, apparently dishwasher boy isn't doing his job. Learn how to clean your cups, the men's bathroom was filthy with pee all over the floor it was wet and slimy. You need to get rid of those plastic cups toss them all out. The health inspector needs to get down there. My entire family got food poisoning. I had the massive runs of diarrhea after having the pizza you guys need Bar Rescue Jon Taffer to come in to rescue this place after new management apparently this place is going downhill like ghetto. I was planning on taking my girl here to do something big like engagement I might have to find a new place to do it now. You guys really need to get your shit together. They either refused to push two tables together, or didn't know they could at that time? They ended sitting us in two separate booths so we couldn't even sit together. As I sat there finally I watched them rearrange tables for a party that came in that may have been for 10 to 12 people maybe. It was what appeared to be a breast pounded flat to make 2 pieces. It was grilled, not breaded, and it was served flat with ham and swiss on top. This was not cool, they should call it deconstructed so you're not expecting that beautiful chicken rolled up, filled with ham and cheese, and then breaded and fried where all the flavors meld together. This was not good. My friend had a Reuben sandwich with fries and said it was fine. Still thinking that the mgmt/owner change last year was not for the better which is a bummer. I walked in and the sign read 'Thank You, Come Again'. The two teens at the hostess stand were way more engrossed in their conversation, so I proceeded to the deck. The server approached and asked if the hostess seated me at this, one of several empty tables. I told her the above story and asked what lagers they have. She said they didn't sell lagers and went off to fetch me a Miller Lite, a lager. Next, a manager comes over and is clearly unhappy I seated myself. She indicated there wait (there absolutely was none), and invited me to go back and speak to the kids (whom I saw still engrossed in their conversation and ignoring everything else). So when we showed up there was a wait but this place is very cool, they had a live band playing music from the 90s and it seemed to be just a peaceful place to make new friends, grab a drink or just sit and relax by the river. The drinks were obviously the first to come out and I have to say that the Old Fashoined was a little strong but im no kitty so I enjoyed it, I have had a better Old Fashoined but this was okay, then our Pretzel Bites were really good, the beer cheese was amazing and cheesy, very delicious. After that came out my Burger, the Pretzel Burger was really good and fulfilling, I liked the crisp of the lettuce and onion, the meat itself was very delicious, I always order my burgers rare and this was nice, punk and juicy. The whole vibe of this place was nice and relaxing, its a great place to come eat, drink and enjoy some live music and if there isn't a band you can still enjoy the scenery of the water and it even has a boat dock for those who have boats and want to dock your boat and grab a bite and a drink.
