Came back with my group of friends again this year. This visit was a lot better. Our server was really great with suggestions and answers to our questions. She also brought over her relief server to introduce us formally. There was live music - loud enough to hear and sing along, if you want, but quiet enough to hear others at the table if you wanted to talk/visit with them. I appreciated that. The music was varied but mostly stayed in the 70's and 80's. This time, I ordered the Honey Boo-boo Flatbread and side of Husb Puppies. Our wait wasn't as bad as it was last year, hence, most of the reason for the extra star this time. The food arrived hot as well. The flatbread was flavorful but didn't have a lot of heat from the hot honey although you could taste the sweetness from it. The hush puppies were very good. read more

I ordered Walleye that was marked GF, when it came out it was breaded. Waitress said of course it's has to be lightly dusted or it will fall apart. And if I would have told her I needed GF she would have steered me away from it. Well I did tell her when I ordered and then said of course that means no croutons on the salad. She said right. Then offered to remake it blackened, or no seasoning at all. ‍ So guess what, I left starving. Little shocked that the manager never came over to offer a solution. It's not the 1st time it happened, but was told it wouldn't happen again. Pretty place on the water with plenty of parking. Indoor/outdoor seating. I wanted to sit outside near the water so plenty of pic opportunities. Server was friendly n efficient but probably not a good idea to tell me how many spiders n spider webs are out the patio. The patio we were currently sitting on.. Diverse menu with lots of seafood options. I really wanted pizza n that wasnt my better idea. Tasteless. Looked great tho. The pretzel bites were delicious tho. The website boasted reggae style music. The band that was there was playing country. Oh well. They put my craft beer in a plastic cup. I don't like this. Just a heads up to my fellow beer snobs. Oh yeah, crab cakes were really good. Suggest just come get drinks n appetizers. Have to add my man said don't ever bring him back because it is buggy on the patio. I think the first reason you come to this location is the waterfront, with the 90's-00 reggae music playing in the background you feel like you're on vacation!! The staff is super kind and quick!! I didn't have yelp when I was coming here a lot. But I do have it now! The food is very good! Especially the pretzel bites! It's always a little loud in there since it's a pretty local place. When I was coming more frequently I do remember that there was 5-10 minute waits during the evening, but that could be because it is a pretty local spot! read more

Food is great. The burger I had had a dry bun, but it was delicious. We ordered food pretty late into the day, we had last call for food because the kitchen closes before the bar. We sat on the patio near the water and enjoyed the last of the sunset. The bugs were there but it was still wonderful. Lovely service. Would definitely return. read more

We came here for our monthly book club with our group of girls and it so happened to be trivia night. We put our names in and quickly realized this place was packed with people just to play trivia. Not only is this amazing spot on the water, but they offer weekly events and specials to draw in a crowd. read more

Wife and friends visited earlier this week. All orders were unacceptable. Wife ordered salad with blackened salmon, came with chicken. Two friends ordered a blackened fish dinner, neither could eat was delivered, blackened coating was overwhelming. Either the waitress didn't record the order correctly or the cooks had a bad day. Beautiful scenery, but the food was not hitting the way I wanted it too. The salmon I ordered was ok, I could've did without the brown sugar. The crab cake had a weird taste to it. My husband did not care for the jerk dish he had. We have visited tons of waterfront restaurants and this is not one that I'd place on the top of my list food wise. The service I can say was amazing! They have a lovely setting but it can get VERY loud inside. We've been here 3 times and only once was it quiet enough to hear my companion's conversations. (1pm Sunday). The perch dinner was good but getting vegetables instead of fries and a salad instead of coleslaw incurred two up charge too bad they couldn't have interchangeable sides. The Rueben and BBQ sandwiches were plentiful and enjoyed by my in laws fries were an additional cost, but the sweet potato waffle fries were some of the best I've ever tasted. I like it! Crab cakes: two crab patties with a spicy chipotle mayo (i think) and if I recall accurately, a mango salsa. French Onion soup: it was FULL of onion. Oh yes, please. Adequate cheese and bread on top. Unique flavor; a hit. Jamaican something or other Salmon steak with crunchy fresh green beans and pineapple (i think) infused white rice. Emphatic yes. Michigan Cherry Salad looks yummy and plentiful. Staff: super welcoming, attentive and friendly. I enjoyed it a lot. The location is surprising because it's inside what I think is the Humbug Marina. It's a quaint little area. It's an archipelago and some houses have a canal in their backyard leading out to Lake Erie. It's a boater's hangout. All good news. read more

Fish & chips has new cheap batter, once delicious hand dipped onion rings now we're smaller, tasted like frozen onion rings dumped in old grease and were dripping grease, and no longer serve hush puppies with the meal (even though they still show on menu). Very very disappointing. Noticed what once was an hour wait on a Saturday night in summer now has open tables. Plenty of parking close to door. Will not return. New ownership has decided to cheapen up the foods, keep the cooking oil way too long. Wait staff still good though. read more

So, when you have a standing prime rib night each week, goal is to be able to offer it past 5:30 pm of said night. A few weeks apart, twice in a row, first night, we got the last one, only one of us(me or my husband) could get it, i won. But there was only 12 people in the entire restaurant! Where did they all go???? Second time, stupidly went there on my birthday a few weeks later on PRIME RIB night!! Sold out again-5:30 pm! Ok, overcooked burger for me and my husband. Daughters walleye was chewy and hard in some spots. If you go, order the parmesian potato bites, much better than the twice microwaved baked potato! Side salad was good! Not good enough to ever go back!!!!! More of a drinking/french fry joint- gave up on the chicken jerky i tried a few months ago. Why did i keep going back? Im an idiot! Thats why. My friend didn't like the mahi tacos, we also tried their pizza which was okay but the star of the show were the pulled pork loaded nachos! My first visit after reports of new owners. I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich with plain mayo only instead of the pickles, chipotle mayo and two other toppings it comes with. The server had to clarify twice that didn't want the normal toppings still. I stressed I wanted the chicken and mayo ONLY. NOTHING ELSE. Still had to clarify. I ordered an iced tea that was unsweetened and discovered no sugar on the table. I had to wait ten minutes for someone to bring food to ask for sugar. JP's is almost a hidden gem. Located in the marina, it's easy to miss this place but well worth the effort to find it. Hubby and I enjoyed our food and we look forward to dining here again in the summer when we can sit outside. In terms of food, we started with onion rings the size of my head (see photo). 8 of those massive things along with some yummy sauce. A great appetizer to share with a few people! Or get the onion rings as your side. Burgers for both of us today. Hubby's burger came with seasoned potatoes which I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend. Although we enjoyed our burgers I saw lots of other good looking foods come from the kitchen, so I will try something else next time. If you are in the area, I recommend dining here. Humbug Marina is home to a jewel of a restaurant with great food and beautiful ambience right on the mouth of the bay leading to Lake Erie. The service was excellent and choices of entrée delicious. I love this place! I was here several times when I was in town visiting family and friends. Each time I dined outdoors. The views of the water and fresh air make it a fun, relaxing experience. My favorite meal is the cod either blackened or piccata style with artichokes, capers and tomatoes in a delicious sauce. I ordered the huge onion rings and their side salad as sides. Everything was delicious. All of their drinks have good alcohol pours and are very tasty. Service was excellent too. I can't wait to return when I'm back in town. read more

The best part of JP Waterfront is by far the views and overall ambiance! We just love the vibe here and the live music makes it an epic experience! Most of the food is delicious. But a couple things to point out is .... If you order a salad, 9 times out of 10 it will arrive with your meal. They don't seem to get that a salad comes before your main course. The hush puppies were great under the previous owner but now they are very doughy, not good at all. Going during the day it was perfect for us since we had so much to catch up on and the server was very accommodating. She didn't rush us at all. Stopped in here when I was visiting family in the area. When I asked them for a place to meet that would accommodate their family AND allow us to have a drink- there was no hesitation- this was the place! I only wished we had been here in the Summer months for the back patio and the view of the River were calling to me. But alas- it was December and bitterly cold so we stayed inside pretending it was summer as we longingly gazed out the big windows that are the back walls to this place. This is pretty good bar food. Set your expectations for that and you won't be disappointed! We started with JP's nachos, jalapeño poppers and fried mushrooms. The surprise of the order were those mushrooms! Had to be the biggest mushrooms any of us had ever had- and they were good! For our entrees, several of us got the fish and chips which was also quite good (fried food, anyone?) as they have both perch and cod. There were burgers for some, and chicken tenders and mac and cheese for the kids. All in all a pretty good showing for our group! And the drinks were well poured as well. Plenty of parking in the lot and in the summer months, I was told they have a tie up dock for your boat if you are headed down the river. All I know is I need to get back there in the Summer months!
