Absolutely recommend this very charming outdoor eatery. The view is terrific and there are options to eat indoors. The food was much much better than average and the service was excellent. The portions are huge, the food is ok, the service was HORRIBLE!! When we walked in we were told there were 3 tables ahead of us... after the 6th party was seated I got up and said something. We were sat outside and the drinks came fast. We ordered our food and sat for over an hour. Watching tables that sat after us finish their meal and leave. The server (sarah) FINALLY brought our food, set it down... and it wasn't even ours, it was for the next table over. After another 15 minutes she came back and blamed the kitchen for "burning the fish" and told us they were remaking our food. One hour and 15-ish minutes later, our food finally arrived! Atmosphere is very loud plan on having a conversation with someone not really able to because of live bands, and then people having to talk over the live band. The service was great. I've ordered from here a few times, when I can get them on the phone, but I believe theyre working on that. The first time I ordered the girl hung up after 10 minutes, we called back, and she was giggling to a coworker about how she hung up on me. She messed up our order. Gave it a second try, much nicer person answering the phones and our food was correct. Even though our food wasn't what we wanted the first time the food was still good. The wraps are good, the burgers are too. Fries are just regular fries. Nice to have something different in little Gibraltar. It's not back by the wildlife reserve, it's up by the humbug building. This is a great spot located directly on the Detroit River in Gibraltar. You may pull your boat up and grab a good bite to eat! The burgers are so good, the chicken fingers are hand battered and delicious, they have hand cut onion rings, yummy hush puppies, and the drinks are strong and cheap! What more could you ask for in an establishment? Oh yeah, they have a huge tiki area that will be poppin' once the restrictions are lifted! I can't get over the prices, so fair for this view! I am used to paying a hefty tab just to enjoy the million dollar views from JP Waterfront! It's totally hidden, you must go on an adventure to find it. Came in for dinner on Saturday evening around 5pm. Was expecting to wait a good little while tor a table hit was seated within 10 minutes. Staff was organized. It was super busy but they were on it. Nice waterfront views. Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable and was quick with the refills. We started with the steak tips and the pretzel bites. Both were really good. To call them pretzel bites in an understatement. They're made of pretzel bread that's cut up and it comes with a rich fondue like beer cheeses delicious. The steak tips were smothered in a mushroom and pepper gravy that was really tasty but honestly, the steak tips were so tender , they didn't need a sauce. Definitely getting those again. My hubby ordered the TBone special and it was just ok , cooked right but it was still a little tough. I got the blacked walleye. Definitely would get that again. One nice piece of Cajun seasoned fish cooked just right. Over all a great experience! read more

Went with my wife on a drive. Navigation gave us bad direction but got us close enough. Hostess found us a table outside. Nice. The server was good. Took our order quickly. We both had fish. She had the fish sandwich which was quite good. As we're the hush puppies. I got fish n chips. The fries were good, but I found the beer battered breading was way too thick. So much breading. I will order a different coating next time. It did take a very long time to get our dinners though. At least 45 minutes. There was a lot of bees flying around but no big deal. The view was nice. All I can say, is the chairs are the most painfully uncomfortable seat I have ever endured. I imagine if I was very skinny I wouldn't feel the same. But the metal back of the chair cuts in at the hips, yet if I sit sideways it cuts into my thigh. read more

We went to Jp's and we were very happy with our dinner. It has a great vibe. It iss really nice and clean. They had live music the day we went, which was on a Friday. We ordered the steak bites, the cajun cream pasta with Salmon and shrimp. Also, a blackened grouper sandwich. The pasta was awesome and there was a lot of it. The steak bites were really good and it was a pretty good sized portion. My husband's grouper sandwich was just okay. He felt that it was over seasoned, not really blackened. Overall, we were very satisfied with our waitress and food. I would've given a 4.5 stars if That was an option. I am only taking off half a star because the grouper sandwich was just okay. I would definitely recommend this place. We live in Ann Arbor and were looking for a restaurant to sit by the water while dining that wasn't too far away from our house. This place had a great patio on the lake. We only waited for 10 minutes, which is awesome for a Friday night. read more

I was visiting my parents and we wanted to grab some food on a waterfront. My dad found a review for JP's, and we gave it a try. The back deck is such a pleasant atmosphere, right over the Detroit River, and I love that they had an outdoor waiting area with ample seating. It made the hour-long wait much more pleasant, especially after grabbing some drinks at the bar. We had the calamari appetizer special and it was really good: much richer and more unique than just a fried calamari. My buffalo chicken sandwich was HUGE and tasty. My dad seemed quite pleased with his fish, though my mom said the coconut shrimp were just okay. The menu is mostly upscale, bar-type food, but it was all prepared well and there were plenty of options for fresh, well-prepared veggies as sides. Our server seemed busy, but things moved along really quickly. It was also nice to see a floor manager (I'm guessing) assisting the outdoor servers, making sure everyone was taken care of in a timely way on a busy evening. Food was very yummy (especially the mac and cheese). Although the wait was over an hour long, it was worth it because the environment is fun with the live music and places is to drink. Only thing I will say is the music was hella loud which was annoying when i could barely hear the person i was sitting across from even if the it was good it just sucked that it was so loud.
