Formerly Smokie's on the Water. Tipsy Fish just opened! My husband and I flew here for the day and walked from the airport. It's about 1.5 mile walk on the water. There is an option to walk in the middle of the island with a sidewalk too. We selected that option for our walk back. The location is great. It's good for the golfers and any visitors on Grosse Ile. Causal vibe and everyone is so friendly. There will be alcohol, but their liquor license is being finalized by mid-June 2024. We were able to sit anyone. We opted for outside to enjoy the Michigan summer. Our waitress, Mary, was so nice and attentive. We started off with mocktails and ice tea. For lunch, we ordered the prime rib melt, the Buffalo chicken salad, and the fish tacos. The Buffalo chicken salad comes with grilled or fried chicken. The fish tacos come with perch, cod, or shrimp. Plus, you can select if you want them grilled or fried. The food was great! I really enjoyed my prime rib melt with grilled mushrooms and onions. You have the choice of a wasabi or garlic aioli. I went with garlic. Yum! After lunch, we walked back towards the airport to the Gilbrator Bay Alpaca Farm. Grosse Ile is a fun day trip especially with good food spots and fun activities on this cute little island. read more

Some friends and I decided to stop in for some drinks this weekend and it will surely be my last visit. We ordered mimosas and a flatbread. Upon receiving my second mimosa I noticed something floating in it, so fished it out with my fork and kept drinking (I tried to convince myself it was a dark chunk of orange). Then my friend received her second mimosa and it was obvious there were chunks of mold floating in it. We waived the waitress over, and they comped 2 of our 6 drinks but the fact the bartender would serve those is super concerning. It was definitely noticeable. They also didn't seem super shocked by it. I saw enough to know this is not the type of place I care to dine at. read more

Visited last night. Liquor license secured, so it was a good time to visit before heading to the Trenton Street Fair. Great atmosphere in this redesigned location, plenty of water views while sitting at the bar. Wait staff was attentive, cod fish taco was done to perfection, patty melt was good and the beer was cold. What more to ask for.... We will be back. Remove the Jerk Chicken Tostadas. The Chicken had zero flavor. It was like a cooked chicken you buy at the grocery store was chopped up and used. I would have sent it back but, our server was MIA 90% of the time. The other servers around us were very attentive. All around a very poor experience. read more

As others have said, I am not really sure where to begin here. I was visiting from out of town and the Tipsy Fish (which to me had many names: The Dancing Fish, The Shaky Fish, The Drunken Fish) was highly recommended by friends. On a late summer's eve, we found ourselves at a table outside overlooking the river. The waitress warned us that they were short staffed and wait times would be longer. We didn't mind, even though time waits for no man. We held onto our patience (it is a virtue after all). And, they had Diet Pepsi and Soda Water so that held us. The menu had an extensive list of options and we couldn't decide - I went for the chicken & my friend got the fettuccini alfredo. We also ordered potato skins, because why not? The wait was really long but in the end, the potato skins did find their way to our table. We couldn't quite tell where the potato met the skin as it had quite a bit of oil but we had ranch and everything is better with ranch. The main courses came - served by the chef himself! The chicken was interesting and the alfredo was really different! The highlight of the evening was a large barge on the water and all of the people at the restaurant and the town itself stopped to watch it go by - it was as if time had stood still! Ate there last night and had lamb chops that were absolutely terrific after devouring a cup of their delicious French onion soup. I rarely write reviews BUT! My experience was not good. Our waitress Donna ruined our dinner. Donna forgot my friends order. Upon bringing my dinner and not my date's dinner realizing her mistake, instead of going to the kitchen and putting our order in STAT she put the missing order in the back of the inline of all the other orders. I was embarrassed to eat all of my meal in front of my date while she waited for her food. After I was finished eating and we were ready to leave, Donna returned to our table with the missing meal. Donna realizing we were ready to leave asked if my date would like her meal put in a carry out container. I asked Donna why did she put the missing order in the back of the line and not in front? She was put out and said "well we only have two waitresses". I will not be returning to the Tipsy Fish. Very friendly staff. I ordered the Chicken Piccata with rice. What I was served was certainly not chicken piccata. I was served a grilled chicken breast cut up into pieces covered in a lemon flavored sauce. Rice was good and actually so was the chicken. It just was not chicken piccata by any stretch. read more

My family just had dinner at Tipsy Fish and I am happy to say that we had a great experience! We had the Chicken pesto, Berry salad and the prime rib sandwich. Our food was out fast and the view was amazing. The only thing that would make this place better would be having a glass of wine with my dinner. I understand that this is a new restaurant and will hopefully get better as they find their footing, but we won't be trying it again any time soon. Our food took a full hour even though the restaurant was empty, and was very underwhelming when we got it. My french dip sandwich was very bland and poorly seasoned. I probably should have sent it back, but we'd been waiting so long, I just did my best to add salt and pepper and eat enough to keep my stomach from rumbling until we left. The fries were covered in some kind of (Mediterranean?) spice mix. I suppose this was an attempt at creativity, but the effect was more off-putting than interesting. The kids menu is a disgrace at $8 each, featuring the absolute lowest cost options they could think of (grilled cheese, a single "mini" hamburger, mac and cheese, spaghetti). So, I'm not quite sure where to begin. It was such a disastrous attempt at a night out. First off we went into this hoping very much for the best. It would have taken very little to make us happy with it, anxious as we are to have some more options on the Island. Unfortunately even with minimal expectations this was not met. We entered the restaurant a group of 3. We were seated right away, and just ordered water because their liquor license problems they are having. No biggie, hot day, water was best anyway. We ordered within the first 5 minutes of being seated we had plans later and we thought we didn't want to risk being late even though it was 2 hours out. We ordered 2 appetizers and one meal. After 49 minutes, we finally asked our waitress if she could check on it, that we had plans. She came back 10 minutes later stating that they were going to get the one appetizer out. It did come out a few minutes later. Upon eating this appetizer we found that it was cross contaminated with a food allergen that I have a severe allergy too. Still not crazy upset yet, mistakes happen. Took some meds immediately still had a bit of a reaction but ok for the most part. What bothered me is the owner NEVER came over to apologize for what happened. They took the item off the bill, and the waitress apologized. The food finally came out after an hour and 15 minutes and it was just ok. Not great. There was a series of debacles going on around us as we sat there as well. Customers struggling trying to put up outdoor umbrellas themselves, other patrons just throwing their hands up and walking out, and the management oblivious to it all. I really hope they pull it together. As for now, we will skip the Tipsy Fish if I want to survive another day. read more

terrible from beginning to end , waited 15 minutes for waitress to tell us they didn't carry the beer I ordered , took over a half hour to take our order, my salad never came before meal , no potatoes or vegetables offered as side down. Just was a terrible time read more
