    2pc white meat dinners

I've been coming here since I was little. As always the roasted chicken was fresh and delicious. The cole slaw is one of my favorites around (unique since the cabbage is ground up). We enjoyed wedge potatoes and onion rings. Just a heads up, the dining room closes at 8:30, but the carryout counter was open until 9:30pm. Still with short hours since Covid, maybe there isn't enough staff. The cashier was friendly and efficient.

The best broasted chicken hands down and has been for a good 20 years I know for sure! This is way better than Chicken Shack and I have always been devestated that there isn't an east location. Driving from Rochester Hills is a bit much! The chicken is JUICY! The coleslaw is wayyy better than KFC! Broasted potatoes are great too! The only downside is the waitresses are kids and they truly do not care to have that job. My waitress completely ignored me, took forever for her to come wait on us and there weren't many people in at the time. There were 2 waitresses and they both were slow, inaccurate, and careless. I would have much rather served myself with their attitudes. Get the carryout!

Chicken breast - so juicy, so tasty! (June, 2025)

It's been years since I've had Mr. Chicken, and it is even better than I remembered. The breasts are so juicy. They have the best pressure fried chicken, and beat the other chicken places.

On a search for Good Fried Chicken without hitting any Fast Food Chains. Didnt want to just buy a bucket and make sides, didnt want to get it to go, didnt want to spend an arm an a leg. After searching and reading Menus, I found Mr. Chicken. Close enough, had been around for years, reviews were ok, menu had a bucket deal with sides and had fried mushrooms as an appetizer; i was sold. This is one of those places you drive by and dont pay attention to. We walked in, seated ourselves in the old carpeted dining room, and were attended to quickly. Given a menu that i looked over, even tho i knew i was getting the 8 pc Bucket Deal that came with fries/wedges and coleslaw. Good thing i looked again tho, I saw we could ask for half fries and half wedges. Sounds good to me, I want to try both. Waitress took our order, I said half and half please, she closed her order book and said a pint of coleslaw comes with. We ordered the Score 4 which is fried onion rings, cauliflower, mushroom and zucchini. Amazing. While we waited I watched as numerous carry outs came and left, and the dining room filled up almost completely. Food came out literally in 10 minutes. All together. A bowl of Chicken and Rice cuz i need to try soup everywhere. It was good, a bit salty but good. Small loaf of bread Now, The sheer amount of potatoes on that plate was astounding. The wedges were piled up and fries were stacked. And the coleslaw? Yeah that pint was HUGE. Falling out of the bowl, finely miced and super wet. More than enough for us 2, more than enough for 6 probably. We ate and ate and it still didnt put a dent in it. Now the reason for our visit, the Chicken was FANTASTIC. Crusty, Crispy, flavorful and moist. Hot and juicy and flavorful. Pieces weren't huge but just the right size. We each ate 2 pieces and honestly could have went for another but we wanted leftovers haha. Next time ill get the 12 piece lol. It's one of those places you never go, but once you do, youll always go back.

Not too much to say, I've been here about 20 times. The ribs and great, tender fall off the bone and the chicken is moist and crispy.

Look at the meaty chicken thighs! Lightly battered and crispy chicken with crunchy onion rings and yummy slaw.

I usually eat at my desk, reading emails as I munch on a salad or the weekly special. However, when my friend suggested that we continue our fried chicken odyssey at lunchtime on a recent Friday, I was totally game. We rarely take time out for lunch (maybe five times a year) so this was a double-treat. The restaurant looks like a throwback to the 60s, with extraneous walls blocking the view, unlike more updated spaces, acoustic ceiling tiles, and tight booths. I had glanced at the menu prior to the visit but all thoughts of healthier eating disappeared when my friend announced she would be having the 4-piece Chicken Dinner. That sounded too good to pass up. The chicken was lightly battered and seasoned. Crisp and crunchy, the chicken was steaming hot and juicy. It was perfectly cooked. Yum. The dinner comes with two sides. I selected the onion rings, because, onion rings. The coleslaw was slightly sweet, not too creamy and not too vinegary. It was a refreshing complement to the meal. In an effort to minimize calories, a long-ago article in the NYT indicated that the calories in a rotisserie chicken breast without the skin is only slightly less caloric than that of fried chicken breast without the skin. So there, a way to enjoy this meal without the massive guilt. The server was chatty and friendly. We felt that she went out of her way to make our visit special.

Here chicken...chicken... Come out and play!!! (Weird I know) Ok for people saying the ranch is oh so good - true but it isn't an extra 84 cents good for a small size container. (No thank you next time) I think this place is very reasonable especially their side of onion rings - the small to me looks like a large and that's all you would need unless you are sharing which I usually don't do. Yes i'm greedy so sue me!!! I've eaten at many chicken spots and unfortunately they usually need seasoning added which I HATE - ugh but this place here has me sold. Its nothing you need to do but just eat them; as of right now i've been getting a carry-out which only takes about 10mins and the food isn't sitting under a light or anything. You can see the guys in the back cooking away. Thanks for giving good service. **Also try there apple-dutch pie (Yummy)**

Everything is cooked and baked by the chefs-in-training so you can expect little blemishes here and there, but where else can you get Duck Confit for $14 or Surf and Turf for $17 nowadays? I was always interested in going ever since I learned about the restaurant, but their very limited hours (they are only open during the school year for lunch on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and for dinner on Wednesday) prevented me from giving them a try. That changed last Wednesday. We had a reservation for the special Shrimp and Soul Seafood Buffet ($21.95 per person). Parking was a bit of a pain - I guess this place is mostly attended by faculty and other students because we had to call and wait for security to raise the gate to the parking lot. As we walked into the building, we noticed that the restaurant is basically situated to the side of the student commons/cafeteria area. We walked up and found a giant line of people waiting to check in; this was right when they opened at 6PM. This took a while, but after we managed to make it inside, we were directed to the overflow seating outside of the restaurant - it wasn't exactly the classiest of seats; basically just temporary circular fold tables and plastic chairs, with a cheap plastic cover on top of the table. The interior furniture was much better but I guess for these more popular events they have too many people come in. We waited a while for the waitress to get to us as there seemed to be only one or two for the entire restaurant and then finally could go inside to grab food. There were two main lines for food, one to the right with salad and appetizers, and one to the left with the mains. Starting with the right side, which was mostly self service, we had: Spring Mix Salad - Pretty standard green mix with a wide variety of toppings to choose from, including shredded cheese, olives, broccoli, onions, chickpeas, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and a couple of different dressings. Cocktail Shrimp - These were boiled and piled into an attractive ice sculpture, with the shrimp spilling out from the bottom. They were cooked perfectly with the shrimp being served unshelled. They were a bit tricky to peel, but they were deveined well. This came with cocktail sauce and lemon on the side. Macaroni Salad, Cole Slaw, and Potato Salad - All mixed and seasoned well. Soup - The menu listed shellfish clam chowder but instead they had a nice corn chowder with imitation crab. On the left side, where there were students standing behind every dish to serve the food: Cornbread Muffins and Dinner Rolls - The cornbread were very sweet with good cornmeal taste. The rolls were pretty normal in taste and texture, but they looked nicely baked with cornmeal sprinkled on top. Braised Collard Greens - The greens were chopped and stewed until tender with no stringy bits. There was a bit of smokiness and pieces of pork mixed in. Sweet Potato Casserole - This had a nice cinnamony taste with a browned crust on top. Pork Tenderloin - This was thinly sliced and dressed with a peach bbq sauce. It was good to try but kind of dry and tough. Fried Cod - This was beer battered cod with a bit of bitterness. The fish inside was tender and moist. Chicken Breast - Very dry, my least favorite food of the night by far. The last two items were rice pilaf and green beans. In addition, there was a mac & cheese station with mix-ins, including diced tomato, caramelized onion, homemade bacon, broccoli, and imitation crab. The student scoops some precooked, oiled elbow macaroni into a pan, adds the toppings, ladles a cheese roux on top and heats everything up in a skillet. We were told that the bacon is made on site. It's thick cut into cubes so you have sizable chunks of delicious smoky bacon. We found the best part of the meal to be the dessert, served on a table right outside the restaurant (and conveniently located across the entrance from our table). These consisted of a decadent heart shaped white chocolate mousse with raspberry filling, a chocolate mousse with caramel filling, small pecan pie slices, Mississippi mud pie bars, cups of banana pudding, red velvet cupcakes, peach cobbler (served hot), and cheesecake. Everything on this table was delicious and we definitely overindulged. Overall, the food was a bit hit and miss, with the meats being the worst and the desserts being the best. Since this was a buffet rather than their normal service, there were probably some additional consistency issues. Still I think this was a good experience and it made me want to visit again for their standard menu but perhaps not for another buffet.

Excellent menu. Excellent execution. Excellent service. Plenty of parking…read more The pancetta wrapped walleye is outstanding. The roast ed Brussels sprout salad was a great starter. The chocolate-hazelnut dessert was another home run. Will I return? Absolutely yes!
